I think this more cerebral approach at offense the Chiefs have had to take over the past two years was actually a blessing in disguise and helped Mahomes up his game to a higher level. When teams started playing Cover 2 against the Chiefs they definitely had to change their approach. The ear mark of a great QB is one who can find open windows in the intermediate ranges of the field

The first play shown in this video is a good example of why the Chiefs are the Chiefs. This play happened right after MVS made a bad play and lost yards right? Although, in replay, I don't put that all on MVS. During the missed tackle he kind of got flung backwards and tried to make the best of bad momentum. Regardless of that, pause the video at 7 seconds in. Mahomes could have gone to Kelce, Watson, or MVS on that pass. Kelce clearly knew it wasn't coming to him, but he could have easily thrown it to Watson. It would have accounted for about the same amount of gain regardless of which guy Mahomes threw it to. To me this was a Reid moment, or maybe a Mahomes moment, saying, "I don't need this guy losing confidence right now." Now, that kind of thing in the regular season ain't that surprising i.e., guy drops a pass and the coach calls a play that goes right back to the guy that just dropped a pass. In the superbowl in OT, that's a different story.

I agree. He had a great game plan for about nearly 3 quarters, but I think the Chiefs and Reid made some adjustments and the offense finally gelled for the Chiefs in the final quarter and OT. To call him out specifically and make him the scapegoat for this loss is kind of selling out.
