Hi, thanks for the video. Really like your content, been following for about a year now😎. AFAIK these trucks are limited to 140 kph when racing for safety reasons. I think it’s been that way since the horrible accident with the monster DAF in the 80s. I think there might also be an error with a picture you put trying to show where the rear dampers get their cooling, but also possible I just missed it. Keep the good stuff coming! Cheers from Israel

Hi, thanks and I'm glad you like it! Yes the Dakar speed limit is at 140km/h but the truck is designed to do slightly more. They also compete in other rallys than the Dakar. The rear damper cooling is a strange one but it seems to be as I described it here.

There are only Nissan, Honda and Toyota, that will be a good callenge for you and a exellent content/matirial for your cannel. Also there are gt300 where are a mix category, car whit differents tecnical regulation.

Whats the reason for using multiple springs? I see same in gr b rally cars. For example ford rs200 has twin coil springs per wheel, why not use single spring with twice the stiffness compared to using 2 springs. In theory shouldnt that give same amount of travel and energy absorbtion?

There are multiple reasons: 2 dampers mean more surface area to get rid of the heat. 2 smaller dampers behind each other disturb the flow less than one big one. Damper manufacturers have smaller dampers available but one huge one would have to be customized etc.

@@BSport320 thanks for answer, i see why they do it with twin dampers now but also im asking for springs only not dampers themselves. Why use 2x spring instead of single spring with 2x stiffness? All good and well, but you forgot to mention a few minor details, like the part manufacturers. For example the axles are Finish(SISU) the suspension is made in The Nethetlands(Reiger), the engine is German(Liebher) as well as the cab(Mercedes), as well as the brakes(Knor) and the transmision is made in the USA(Alison), the tires are French(Michelin). So prety much the only thing in a Kamaz race truck that is Kamaz made is the badge.

Tbe axles, tyres and suspension are made to specifications. And Kamaz are partners with Liebherr, they have worked on engines for normal trucks together. So it's really only the transmission that's imported. (the Merc cab is used on regular production models as well)

European manufacturers don't participate with fully supported, limitless buget teams, cos they have to offer a high tech product.
