Absolutely love Mark´s impression of Bieber singing....LOL

The problem isn't with Bieber, or the movie or the songs (they doesn't really help though). It's the fact that he talks about how hard he has worked to get to were he is and how you should never give up and bla bla bla. He was picked up as a 12 year or singing on youtube and made his first million in a matter of months. Before he turns 18 he's one of the richest persons on Earth and still talks about the hardship of his life. THAT'S the problem.

I'm just relieved Mark didn't embarrass himself by saying he cried throughout or something.

people keeping slagging off the decision to make a film about Bieber but why would they NOT make one? It's not as if they're trying to make the next Citizen Kane, they just want to make a film for 13 year old girls to see and enjoy watching him jump around to songs. It's harmless through and through, and i've never listened to a Justin Bieber song.

Yeah, now were Miley Cyrus and Jaden Smith "prepared" for fame, or did they expect it to happen to them? Bieber might be more grateful for it.

He may be cloying, but I just can't be bothered to give a damn. The hate on him however (especially on KZread) is quite annoying, even though it's easily explained: The majority of KZread users are teenage boys, the majority of teenage boys secretly desire teenage girls, the majority of teenage girls love Justin Bieber, so therefore, the majority of KZread users hate Justin Bieber.

@squamish4244 I'd just like to point out that I have not at any stage during our discussion used the word "wrong". But you attribute that word to me by putting it in quotation marks. I did NOT at any point say that anyone's opinion is objectively wrong. However, having said that, I'd now like to say that anyone who like the Star Wars prequels and Armageddon is wrong Can't we recognise bad writing and lousy filmmaking when we see it? Why are we not allowed to stand up for ourselves?

Of course the film didn't show any of the gritty behind the scenes stuff, It's only job was to create wet patches in teenage girls underwear and extract money from their parents wallet.

@squamish4244 I disagree. If Kermode had dismissed this film by saying "Well, it's superficial nonsense, but hey, it's for 13-year-old girls so that's okay", I would say that's a rather patriarchal, chauvinist attitude. A film is a film. They can all be judged on their respective merits.

@squamish4244 Trust me, please trust me, the Star Wars prequels suck, period. There is nothing about them that doesn't smack of money-grubbing nonsense. Not a good example to use. If you want to side with Roger Ebert, that's fine. He's the guy who gives 3 1/2 stars to pretty much anything, no matter how god-forsakenly dreary it may be. A film critic should not be snobby towards any genre of filmmaking. But that's the only criteria. There are always good films, and ALWAYS bad films.
