Justin Baldoni on Shaping the Future of Content - Life is Beautiful Festival 2015

Ойын-сауық

Actor and documentarian Justin Baldoni, creator of the series My Last Days, was told when he was pitching the show-which focuses on people who are dying-that no one would watch it, to trim it to five minutes or less and that he shouldn’t use such an evocative title. He didn’t back down because he believes in telling stories that make a difference. “If it’s not real we shouldn’t be watching.” He asks the question: “How do we remember who we are as human beings? The answer: “Content reminds us who we are in an authentic way so we can live authentic lives.” Baldoni surprises My Last Days’ Claire Wineland, an 18 year-old with cystic fibrosis, with the opportunity to share her message of what it means to be genuinely proud of one’s life: “You will never be happy with what you get unless you are happy with what you have.”

2015 Life is Beautiful Festival's Learning Series featured bite-sized talks, moderate Q&As, and long form presentations from over 30 storytellers who inspired audiences based on three themes: A Force for Good, Shaping the Future, & Challenging the Game.

We don't need more Claires. We need more people being as they already are because that's what claire taught us. Life is as it is and we should make the most of it. We had claire for a brief time and that's wonderful.

Excellent speech. We need more people to do things like this...encourage people to do great things in life. Life is beautiful and one has to remember that. And we should all praise God that we get to see another day in life because tomorrow is not promised.
