I watch you often . I love that you are so authentic and real. I have been saving for these brushes. I can’t remember the other word-should have written it down. You look really good. Too scared to shave because it might be too hard to keep it up but really like the smoothness look of your skin. Saying: Gratitude is the right attitude. What state do you live in? I live in Virginia about 15 minutes from DC, am a retired teacher, am 77. Love your channel.

Happy October Birthday, drinking my morning coffee and what a joy to get notified you uploaded a video. My favorite brush is also her concealer brush. Loving the cold weather here in Michigan, my grandson has a fall break so I get to spend time with him before we head back home later this month. We will be watching football all day today. Taking him shopping tomorrow, he needs new dress shirts for college, I think on some baseball games they get dressed up. His Paupaw is cooking his favorite foods. Woke up to 46 degrees, high is 56 and it’s suppose to be like this for the next 10 days👏👏👏. Love October up here and watching the beautiful fall colors. We're always our own worst critic. I grew up with a mother who was a stickler when it came to speech and grammar, I suppose because she was a writer and newspaper editor. After I had left home, she would correct my letters and send them back to me. It took me a lot of years but I finally decided to not be so critical of myself or anyone else for that matter. Good morning, MaryEllen. It is so good to see you and hear your chat. I love it. I might do a video based on your video today! We were taught, in New England to say "often" as "soften" also. We were also taught to say the word "bath" with an "o" sound, not an "a" sound. We were not allowed to say "so?", we were never to use double negatives, and never, never say the word "ain't". There were so many English rules that we abide by today! Later, I would meet a handsome man from the South, who said, "ain't", used double negatives, etc., and lo and behold I married him. He just laughs at all the times I've corrected him throughout the years. This was such a good and interesting video and so wonderful to hear and see you today. I needed it! I do pretty much the same with my brushes as far as cleaning them ,but I gently squeeze the excess water out with the little cheap face cloths you can buy in bulk then set them on a towel with the brush part over the edge of the counter to dry We need to not be so critical of ourselves and as you say especially at our stage in life ! I do have way more confidence in myself now than I did when I was younger and also I say NO much easier than I used to ,which in my opinion makes me a much happier person .I love my life ❤ Don’t let anyone ever dull your sparkle ✨ Love you my friend Hugs ❤

Good morning MaryEllen, I completely agree with your pronunciation of "often". My pet grammar peeve is when people say "her" instead of "she". Her and her husband, for example. Years ago, I bought a neat little stand at Target that dries make-up brushes upside down. It was by Sonia Kashuk but I don't think they make it anymore. Too bad, it keeps the water from dripping down into the shaft, where the glue is, like you explained. I'm a few years younger than you, and while watching your videos, I always think how much I admire you for starting a channel in (what I think of as) a brand new medium. And you do a fantastic job. Thank you for putting in the time and effort - I have benefitted greatly, from reviews, exposure to new products, and just an enjoyable few minutes every other Sunday morning with someone I think of as a friend.

A favorite expression is “You can put your boots in the oven but it doesn’t make them biscuits”, which speaks to what things are and are not no matter what some people or think. No need to be so critical of yourself. I do think that's one thing about this age -- it's time to relax a bit and not worry. No one will care. A saying I have on my medical ID bracelet is, "I tick, therefore I am", because I had my aortic valve replaced and I have a fairly constant ticking in my head. It makes me feel bad that you spend 2+ hours editing your videos, but I must say, they turn out great! I would never have known you had edited so much. When I stop and think about whether or not I use the word often or "offen," I know I use both at times, depending on what I'm saying, and maybe the day. IDK. It's something I've never thought about until you mentioned it. I think offen is just a quicker way to say often....or maybe it's the lazy way. I definitely say, "These ones" all the time!! Something else I've never thought about! I always learn so much from you, MaryEllen! One of my grandmother's favourite sayings was, "You get what you pay for," and my dad would often say, "Nothing in life is free." (But, what about those "free" samples, dad!) Oh MaryEllen, you are such a gem! Your tupperware celery container to soak your brush in, and your slacker ways just cracked me up! Please don't be hard on yourself and don't ever change. So much of the internet is fake and an illusion, but you are so real and so genuine. I think it is human nature that we don't like the sound of our own voices. It never sounds the same recorded as we think it does coming out of our mouths. Your voice is soft and lovely. I can't believe you're turning 70 - you look gorgeous! The T is silent in often, and I would say "given" too. I tend to say "Ah rats!" and my friends call me Charlie Brown. And I often remind myself that "a change is as good as a rest". October is my favorite month of the year. Right now we are having a little hot spell and then it's going to start raining. We don't seem to have days where it's sunny but cool and crisp outside. We now go from hot weather to nothing but rain. I have been cleaning my brushes wrong 🤦 I'm glad to hear you are going to continue doing videos. I look forward to Sundays just so I can see you. Mary Ellen, please don’t stop your videos, I love your slacker ways! Honestly, I don’t know how you gals do it. Several years ago, I started a KZread account and tried to record videos. I couldn’t do it. I was too critical of my looks, couldn’t stand my voice, and felt ridiculous. I have such admiration for you ladies who have entertained and educated us for years. I’m crazy about those travel brushes! That said, I would not refuse a cash prize! PS I turned 70 in May and am a fellow Mary and word and diction critic. The frequent use of the word “Anyways” makes me crazy.

I only can think of one saying at this moment and it’s “We can do hard things “ which is a plaque in my occupational therapist office. I see or twice a week since breaking my wrist twice within a 10 month period! Yes, therapy is difficult , but the outcome is worth it! A gift of Cash would allow me to buy a new eye shadow palette (haven’t bought one in years) from the gorgeous KZreadr, Nikol Johnson, who love teaching makeup tips for the mature women. Firstly, I love your leopard top. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and thoughts with us. I don’t watch You Tube videos a great deal, but when I do, I enjoy yours. You have an intelligent, calming and lovely demeanour. I’ve learned some good stuff from you. 😊 I am 64 and although it goes in phases, the past several days I have been oddly and disconcertingly forgetful. I have always loved words and through voracious reading when I was young, and throughout my life, I have developed a better than average vocabulary; however, lately I struggle to find words. It can happen a few times in a short conversation. It’s maddening…and embarrassing to be honest. I start to worry and then it passes and I’m good again for a couple months. I am hoping it’s just stress related. I can’t imagine video taping myself, watching it back would be a nightmare. We are our own worst critics. I am Canadian so I’m making a turkey with all the trimmings today. It’ll be lovely to share it with my daughter and some dear friends. I know your Thanksgiving is in Nov, but have a lovely Sunday and hang in there. You are appreciated!

Okay, my mother always said "well, for crying out loud". I find myself, at 68 saying it often. It saves me from saying cuss words. I would love to have a BK brush, or more, I also am very fond of cash. In other words anything you offer is good with me. You have to be the most generous KZreadr and I am always happy to see you.

Good morning MaryEllen: I am so happy to hear that you will continue to do videos. I have enjoyed each and every one. You have taught me so many tricks and tips which I implemented in my daily life. You are sincere, never pushy with products and provide useful information. I have been a little behind in watching due to carrying for my brother, fracturing my shoulder and suddenly having this horrible flu for 5 days now. As for sayings, I think “patience is a virtue” might be the one I use the most. Turning 71 on 9-11 was difficult for me. I suddenly felt old but knew I had to keep moving forward. Time has slowed down from when I worked and had energized bunny status. May you have the best birthday 🎂 🎉. ❤️Kathy
