    Great video ! Everything gets shown and explained. Perfect. (Info for future videos: _"Screwdriver"_ is the tool you're using to remove and fix the screws; the tiny threaded metallic parts you removed and then put back, are simply called _"screws"_.)

    Thank you for this video, you make it look so easy putting the screws back into the lens. The disassembly is the easy part the difficult part is getting those screws back into the lens body with out them pinging off in different directions. I lost one on the carpet and spent 30 mins trying to find it with a magnet, they are so tiny (smaller than a pin head) and really hard to find if you loose one from where your'e working. Great video I followed every thing you did and it now works with the correct position of the aperture ring.

    Hello. In this and your other videos about cleaning and lubricating lenses, you can safely disassemble the lens blocks and assemble them back just like that without adjusting the optical axis. If you read various articles on the repair and cleaning of lenses, they write that disassembling the lens blocks inevitably leads to a violation of the optical axis, and the lens after such an intervention will no longer be sharp enough as it could be. Also in Soviet books on the repair of photographic equipment, such as Meisenberg or Vishnevsky, they write that it is undesirable to remove the front optical element, probably for the same reason. Therefore, to you as a master and author of many videos, please. To clarify this point, is it still necessary to align the optical axis after disassembly or not, if necessary, do you do it and on what equipment? Or maybe this phenomenon does not appear on all lenses, depending on the design? best regards.

    Great to see how to cleaning up the Jupiter-8. I've just bought one of if form eBay, also a Jupiter-3 lens as well. By the way, can I use the same steps for Jupiter-3 lens also? Unfortunately, I cannot find any information on how to cleaning its optical parts for Jupiter-3

    My Jupiter 8 lens is just like yours, but it feels very loose, like it is falling apart (not when on the camera; just the lens by itself). If I handle the lens, I can feel and hear some parts wiggle. I tightened all the screws, even some which are hidden, and nothing helps. Do some copies of this lens permanently have this problem? I’m wondering if maybe the focus ring was built too large for the lens barrel. Anyway please let me know if you have fixed this before

    Great video. I have found on Rangefinder forum that Iron Glass was able to modify the Iris blades to be 18 rounded blades instead of typical 9. They don’t do it anymore. Do you know how would one be able to do that themself?

  • @RetroFotoHouse

    @RetroFotoHouse

    3 жыл бұрын

    One can't do it by itself, unless possessing milling/drilling equipment. But frankly speaking there is no need in doing that, as original 9 blades is enough to have a rounded bokeh

    Smallest screws are 0.8mm flat (slotted) screws. You can buy a small kit on ebay. Many precision screwdriver kits only go down to 1mm but this is too big. Make sure you get one that gets down to 0.8mm example here- www.ebay.com.au/itm/201605103990?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Same goes when I want to choose f22 - the marker of the selected aperture ends between f22 and f16 Is there a way how to fix it ? I have the silver second generation just like you
