Helios 44-2 fungus: Take between 8 and 10 lenses. Remove front and rear element. Scarpe the fungus into a plastic or metal container. Add a little garlic and butter. Heat the fungus on a low heat for ~6 minutes. Serve with toasted bread on a vintage lens cap.
thanks for showing.
You have gone to the trouble of telling us NOT to touch the chemical, then you hold the lens with one glove and the cloth with acid in the other without glove...but, Thank you for the very interesting video ! Keep up the good work.

Russians make DIY servicable equipment, as Japan did once upon a time, but then went on to non DIY servicable or throw away items.
Hello! I know you specialise in Russian lenses, but can you give me an advice on how to clean the rear element group of a Super-multi-coated takumar 50mm f1.4 with a m42 mount? There are no screws on the back. I’ve searched all over the internet for some instructions on how to do this but nobody seams to have tackled this problem until now. Thanks for the great videos, they are really useful, keep up the great job!

How do you avoid dust floating straight back in the lens as soon as you clean? Do you have any kind of extractor going above the work area?
@RetroFotoHouse

Shouldn't the individual lens elements be marked on the edges so as to preserve their original collimation when reassembled?

@ohhatu8081

In case it helps, ~25% ammonia is the same as ammonium hydroxide, and is often branded as just 'Ammonia'. Ammonia is usually found in construction and paint stores. You wont mistake it for pure ammonia, which is a gas at room temperature.
@seanconery8836

Yes, you can use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. No problem with coatings on lenses.
