Having watched your video it jogged my memory. I have an old Zorki 4 complete with leather case but it has a jammed shutter. It also has a black Jupiter 8 lens which is in very good, clean condition. I dug it out and immediately ordered a cheap adapter (39mm to MFT) which arrived from Amazon this evening. All appears to be good so I look forward to trying it out tomorrow. Thanks for sharing your "Russian" experience.

I really enjoyed the video! I am a fan of Russian/Ukraine cameras even thought the cameras could be quite sketchy. They could have been great, diopter correction for one no other rangefinders that I know of had it, but they just had problems with shutter design. I use the Russian lenses on my Canon 7 & think they are very good for certain subjects. I know I the Canon 7 is the black sheep Canon but I have had a Leica M3 & I prefer the Canon 7.

Nice. I'm curious about portraits for taking my kids' photos, but from what I see, this lens will cut corners on the lighroom retro filters besides grain. Thank you for sharing this. Much appreciated

I have the second version, got it cheap. It is really nice, pictures turn out always very nice. The only thing on my version is that the focus is running very very light, I wish there would be a tad of resistance to it. But hey :) fun lens for sure

Very informative video !!! I did search e bay for this lens and I'm a little confused about the mount. Some are listed as L39 and some as M39. Are these the same ? Also in the link you provided in the description for the adapter the picture show the adapter with the wording L39-M4/3, but the printed description in the ad says "Fotasy Adjustable Leica M39 Lens to M43 Adapter". Just a little confusing. If I get one of these lenses, I want to get the correct adapter. Thanks

L39 and M39 are the same in this case. M39 refers to all lenses with a 39mm thread mount, whereas L39 is specifically a 39mm thread mount with the Leica registration distance. There are M39 mounts for reflex cameras for example with longer register distances, but in the case of the Jupiter 8 this does not apply as, it was only made in the Leica compatible form. So basically, all Jupiter 8s are L39, which is a subtype of M39. The most important thing is you make sure the glass isn't scratched, because this can really affect the image quality. If the adapter says for Leica M39 or L39, then it should work well.

The terms LTM, L39, and M39 refer to the same Leica threaded mount or Leica screwmount, lens mount. The inscription L39-M43 refers to Leica 39mm screwmount to Micro Four Thirds mount. It is the correct adapter. Thanks for watching and commenting!
