We got to the final so many times at that period. And France 98 was really strange. Ronaldo had a sickness before game and the players thought he would die. He eventually played the game but the team's mood was down. At the other side, a magical France with their own merits. Zidane was at his best and they were playing at home. They deserved.

Lembro de assistir em 2006 alguns jogos da seleção quando eu era criança. E sempre que tinha falta o meu tio falava "uma pena que o Juninho pernambucano tá no banco ainda". Eu nunca entendi, já que quem ia pra cobrança eram jogadores como Kaká/Ronaldo/Ronaldinho/Roberto Carlos. Vendo esse vídeo eu entendo o que ele queria dizer, Juninho era mestra nas cobranças de falta. Que pena que a seleção atualmente não tem ninguém nem perto de ter esse talento, ja são mais de 3 anos sem um gol de falta.

Nobody in this Brazil squad can shoot from far other than neymar, it’s pretty embarrassing. I’m a huge Brazil fan and it still amazes me how little help neymar has from other players. Like don’t get me wrong Brazil has a talented team but nowhere near the 2000’s era. Neymar has had the least help than any other Brazilian superstar. If neymar had just a talent like this he would have atleast one World Cup finals appearance. It’s literally a shame that all the stars that came out with neymar never hit their peak like Oscar, coutinho, pato, Lucas moura, and Douglas costa never hit their top form for club or the national team literally leaving neymar as the only current player on the national team still performing at a super high level from the players I mentioned that were supposed to be prodigies. Even david Luiz isn’t on the squad anymore either which I forgot.

Beckham is nothin next to Juninho when it comes to free kick. As a french guy each week when OL(Lyon) used to play (ligue 1) we knew with my friend that if there was a freekick then Juninho will hit and put the ball straight to the the web and the goalkeeper wouldn’t be able to stop it 😀 In pes 2005 as a kid i remember he had 99 free kick accuracy. Just a freekick beast.

O Juninho deu uma aula no globo esporte uma vez sobre uma das técnicas que ele usava pras bolas de longa distância. Ele fazia a bola rotacionar pouco pra ela ir igual um torpedo e não perder velocidade, caindo mais rápido que outras formas de bater. Um gênio!

eu não entendo até hoje. como 4 anos fizeram tanta diferença no futebol da seleção. 2010 tínhamos uma seleção que não perdia mas também não passava confiança, mas se vencesse a Holanda, com certeza seria campeã naquele ano. e depois sumiram todos. 12 anos praticamente só o suco da bosta na seleção.

@@nayutakani6500 2006 e 2010 foi a última copa de vários jogadores que foram revelados nos anos 90. Fora outros dos anos 2000 que não deram sequência como Ronaldinho, Adriano e Robinho. Kaká depois de 2010 teve problema com lesões e caiu muito de produção. Do meio pra frente Neymar chegou garoto e ficou praticamente sozinho sem companheiros no mesmo nível.

@@victordasilvaferreira7918 neymar ficou sozinho e numa posição que não entendo até hoje, um falso camisa 10. neymar é jogador pra infernizar a zaga alheia e driblar na área. valia mais botar um camisa 10 veterano e deixar neymar solto. aposto se tivesse acontecido algo assim, o Brasil teria mais chances pro título. penso eu, que numa copa do mundo, mesmo que um jogador esteja em fim de carreira, a qualidade do passe e o raciocínio numa jogada prevalecem, além do que, a copa do mundo é um torneio curto e se pensa jogo à jogo. CBF é uma merda, pior que politicagem, acho que pensam que é vergonha ter um ou dois vovôs no time. nessa copa 2022 vi muitas seleções com jogadores perto dos 40 e a mídia faltava engolir as bolas deles de tanta babação de ovo. parece que só quando é o Brasil certas coisas são "feias". o que me deixa mais puto é não deixarem o técnico convocar e escalar o time que deseja treinar, deixa o cara refém de um "elenco sem opção".

When I first saw Juninho, he took a free kick from a very far distance and it went in, the keeper just stood there looking like an idiot. I thought to myself what was wrong with the keeper...? Then I saw the replay and discovered what a knuckleball free kick was.

He is the reason I'm infatuated with football. Good to see him get some credit, it's crazy to see people say Pirlo or Mihailovic are the best when Juninho played.

Those were good players but they were nowhere near juninho in their ability to carry the team by themselves. on several occasions, juninho would score a 1st goal with a free kick, which would then open up the game and allow those fast players to score more goals in counterattack. Also if the team was on a bad day juninho could singlehandedly score a free kick and turn a 0-0 into 1-0 and then the defense would hold the score. Not only juninho would score many free kicks, but he would also turn a game of everyone defending to only lyon defending and counterstriking.

Só faltou simplesmente a cobrança de falta mais fantástica de toda a carreira do Juninho que foi o gol de falta que ele fez na semifinal da Libertadores da América de 1998 pelo Vasco contra o River Plate no Monumental de Nunes em Buenos Aires. Aquele gol classificaria o Vasco para a final de seu bicampeonato da América e até hoje é cantado nas arquibancados do clube como "Gol do Juninho Monumental!!!"
