June & Johnny with John Carter Cash went to visit Maybelle for the final time at the family home in Virginia just before she died in 1978, they even tried to get her to come out of retirement and return to the stage, sadly Maybelle was too sick and tierd and died not long after on 23rd October 1978.

This visit in Virginia never happened. Maybelle died in Madison, Tennessee and hadn't been to Virginia for some time. But filmmakers take liberties with the truth in the name of entertainment all the time.
I prefer the true presentation of this story, as most of us do. I've had it with the Hollywood treatment of people's life story lines.😬
This is from a scene in the movie about Johnny Cash and June Carter in "I Walk the Line" I think, I remember the scene but I'm not a 100% sure about the name of the movie.
