June '23 NRL22 COF Preview

In this video we get down on the June 2023 NRL22 Course of Fire. This COF is meant to be a little more on the difficult side of things. Challenging target arrays, time constraints, and a bit of movement should add to the fun this month. If you're new to the channel, welcome! We hope you find what you're looking for here.. If you're a returning viewer, welcome back!
If you find that you keep coming back month after month to see how we plan to approach the monthly match, please feel free to buy us a cup of coffee at BuyMeACoffee.c... to show you're appreciation. You don't need to sign up for any services create a log in.. it's just a way to show your support for what we do each month.
If you looking for longer form content and a range vlog format for the monthly COF, I recommend @ocabj 's channel. He's the guy who helped inspire me to start into NRL22 3 years ago.

    Thanks Lima Romeo family for the COF and NRL22 tips! I took part in my first ever shooting match yesterday (your NRL22 COF) and had a great time. The first hit of that tiny 0.25" kyl was really exciting!

    Great video and congrats on getting to design a COF! Your videos have really been helping me prep for each NRL22. I shoot in the airgun division with an FX Panthera .22. Currently I am sitting in first place at our club for the airgun division, and I intent to keep it that way! (Your vids are helping!)

    You’re going to have fun! This is going to be a more challenging than normal COF. Don’t rush, take your time.. build solid positions, watch the experienced guys and gals go first, ask questions, ask to try out more experienced shooters gear. Most of us are rooting for your and here to help if we can. Good luck this weekend! May the winds be fair, and your trajectories be true.

    For the one you missed on the KLY, you indicate the POI should have been below the meat of the target. Shouldn’t POI have been above the target? Confused at the moment.

    On campfire stories restrictions is that bipod can't touch the ground yet you use your bipod and say you intended on it being shot that way I'm a little confused

    Thanks for watching. Yes, it says the bipod can’t touch the ground. The tire isn’t the ground, therefore it is fair game to use your bipod.

    Time to get rid of the buckets. Nowhere in any precision or tactical scenario will anyone shoot off a stupid bucket. For the argument that its about materials that a club may have, for those clubs in the sport for 3+ years, there's no excuse to not have the funds/ability to upgrade from a bucket being used as a prop. If they can afford and build a Tank trap, a rooftop, etc....they can follow a schematic for building an NRL specific barricade or other props. As for me, you'll see me at the PRS rimfire matches instead!

  • @22LimaRomeo

    @22LimaRomeo

    For an NRL22 event, one must use props listed in the NRL22 Standard Barricade List. I can appreciate your distain for the prop. Maybe PRS Rimfire matches are a better suit for you. I will say though.. that at the PRS Championship last season, a shooter who’d never shot a PRS match won. His primary experience was NRL22

    @@22LimaRomeo yes I totally get that. But why is it a prop? Why not amend the props? Was the original intent of the current props not because of the limitation individual ranges had to “Get Started” in the sport? I know a number of shooters that choose to no longer affiliate just because of prop design. From videos I’ve seen of the large NRL 22 matches, they don’t use the same props or stage design, so it’s confusing as to why local club matches are held to that strict of a COF design if going to a larger match it doesn’t follow the same rules or COFs.

    @@elkwhisperer37 I can’t speak on the decisions of the leadership at NRL22. I can only express my individual thoughts as to why the monthly match format is what it is.. NRL22 in the monthly COF format, I feel is designed to entice newer/ish shooters to the sport by offering props and targets that can easily, and for all intents cheaply acquired. With the barrier to entry for a club to host a monthly match remaining low, it’s much more feasible and accessible for new clubs to get started and gain traction within the area. Yes, the monthly COF’s are a tad vanilla. However they still do a really good job at developing the fundamentals of marksmanship without a whole lot of stress or cost. Something in regards to the stress, being as the monthly matches are generally low stress factor - high fun factor (for most people) this tends to build strong and welcoming local clubs and communities. Now… there is NRL22X matches, which are not standardized, and the COF and props are left to the imagination of the MD. These are definitely your next level of competition. Which is what it sounds like you’re looking for. Local matches are for building fundamentals, and making relationships. X matches are where your really tested on what your capable of. Both, in my opinion are a LOT of fun!

    @@22LimaRomeo I really appreciate your time taken for responding. Is there any data backing up the claim that it’s absolutely necessary to provide those props as a cost savings? How many clubs are “new” that need that accommodation verses those that aren’t new and 1+ years with substantial membership? My thing is that why does NrL22 go half way to common stuff only to be hypocritical in using props not common such as tank traps or roof tops that are not common? I’d say pick one….either make it easy and economical 100% or don’t. Doesn’t make any sense. My next thing, great to hear about PRS championship for that shooter, however how can it be possible to compete in a championship without shooting PRS22 previously as a PRS regional finale and National finale are by invite ONLY for top shooters in the points series? I no doubt can agree that ANY shooting discipline can transfer knowledge from one sport to another, especially NRL to PRS. But my original question remains as to why an established club especially those 3+ years are still forced to use an unconventional prop in a league designed around Natural shooting environments and techniques used in long range engagements. This isn’t a “silhouette” sport. It’s precision rifle.

    @@elkwhisperer37, I’m not NRL management. I’m just a guy who shoots matches with his family and makes videos to help the community see how an experienced competitor is going to tackle a few stages every month. I don’t think I have the answers to your questions. However, the management team is very responsive on FB. You might jump over there and ask some of these questions to the folks who can likely provide you better answers. I only have my own thoughts, and opinions. Sorry I couldn’t be more help to you.
