July Deer Hunting Chores

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Finishing your July deer hunting chores is so critical because you really don't have enough time to recover and finish them later, before the season begins. These deer hunting chores follow what I need to get accomplished on my own land to keep myself on schedule for a successful deer hunting season.
To learn how to successfully design your deer hunting land for July and every month that follows, please check out my latest web class at:

Predicting when to hunt shouldn't be a chore! Make sure that you are following my weather forecast deer hunting predictions when you head to the woods. Check out HuntCast, at:

    Someone needs to make a public land chore list Jeff I don’t own ground yet been looking in Southern fantasy land Iowa but your private land chores list are awesome thanks for share the new Wisconsin property with us…Nodak is under a bad drought this year our beans and corn 🌽 looking sad in North Dakota 🙁

    What do I like 👍 mostly about Jeff? He is all about outcomes. The man does what he preaches to us deer hunters and the work that private property owners put into to hunt the right way take a tremendous amount of time and money. I’m really enjoying watching the process on the Wisconsin property keep up the good work Jeff n staff

    I have a question. I like your no till usage with buckwheat as a cover crop for brassica and rye. I don't have time for buckwheat in a new plot that recently became available to hunt. I can't afford straw at 8 plus dollars a bale but have an abundance of good round bale hay. Tilling isn't much an option. Have you ever used round bale hay sprayed by glyphosate too kill weeds in it and shield the brassica seeds as my options are limited. Thank you for the videos and knowledge

    Thanks again Jeff for another great video. I'm a new hunter coming up on my third whitetail season. Without a family member or friend to mentor my learning, I have been able to lean a lot from your videos. Then I came across one the other day where you stated you cut your teeth in the Holly State Rec and Pontiac State Rec public land in southeastern Michigan. I was able to harvest my first whitetail out of Holly last year and have been learning on those grounds myself. Thanks again for all the wonderful videos.

    Most bucks start showing their antler potential by now. Kind of weird sometimes how some bucks will have advanced antler growth by this time, and other bucks that don't seem like they are going to amount to much, have antlers that take off, and by the end of July, far exceed what their initial antler growth was showing. Also bucks that look like 2 1/2 year olds in the body in June, by September, pack on another 25 or 30 pounds and you're staring at an obvious 3 1/2 yr old. Sometimes I suspect that these late bloomer bucks, may have been conceived in a later rut period, possibly December or January. Months in a deer's life are probably like years in a person's life.

    Creating my first mock scrape/licking branch today. You recommended white oak, jack pine, vines, but with a red oak branch be effective as I primarily have those trees on my property? Thanks for your information, I will now look into planting my border in similar fashion to what you discussed vs. spruce border unless you think that would be just as good.

    Hi Jeff! Thermal hunting related question How does your scent move when you hunt a ridgetop? I know in your videos rising thermals keeps your scent from going downhill if there is a flat behind you, but how does your scent travel if there is a significant elevation change in front of and behind you?

  • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

    @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi John in the morning it stays high coming from both directions. Thermals move with temp change so as long as the temp is rising, so will your thermals. Thermals also go down with temp change, which takes place the last hour or so of daylight. If you have time, check out my Hills and Thermals playlist...probably more info than you want to know 😊 Happy 4th!!

We could also get into life priorities, leasing vs owning land, food plots on a budget...oh wait! I don't use tractors or heavy planting equipment so I can help the budget minded hunter. Bottom line, you need to do a little research before you write a comment.

    On the center of the property I hunt there's about a 10 or 12 acre field, and every year since the land owner quit cutting hay on it I put about a 1.5 to 2 acre food plot in (half targeted towards early season and half toward late season). But I've noticed that the weeds in the field and thus my plots are getting worse and worse each year, is there something I can spray that will kill the weeds off but not the grasses and food plots
