I appreciate what you do Jeff, I was allowed to hunt this 2.5 acre parcel for the last 4 years, 1st year I blew it up. I've been listening to what you say and try to follow it. Man, what a difference, more activity, more deer, more quality deer. I can't thank you enough and if I ever hit the lottery, I'll be another one of your customers.

I will say mornings have stunk around here until the full moon now we're getting a lot more late morning activity I don't put a lot of stock in the moon most of the time more the position of the Moon rather than the phase it's in. I've had great luck when the moon was directly overhead in the middle of the day and directly underfoot what's about to kick in though and all bets are going to be off now I just look for the right wind for specific stands and cooler temps.

My property, (27 acres of deer heaven - now) my quality of hunt, and the quality of harvests just keep getting better. Last season, My neighbors were telling me "the rut hasn't hit yet" in December. Thanks again!

This man is giving out free game. He breaks it all down and gets into the details. Honestly so much you can’t watch all the videos and comprehend it all. You have to live it to really learn it. I myself am mostly self taught. I put many hours in the woods. I also put many hours into reading and researching the animals I hunt. But you can only learn so much on paper or videos. I’m a firm believer that you can never stop learning about anything. But if you already have a good idea of how whitetails work but want to dive in deeper and help clear things up, this is the channel you want to go to. This man knows what he’s talking about!

I hunt public lands only now. In Mid Wisconsin. THe rut is going strong the opening weekend of gun season. Almost always have my buck an hour into the season. I am hunting rutting areas only. (48 years hunting) There are tricks to finding areas bucks use to travel during rutting seasons. They travel the shortest distances between beddiong grounds (IMO), so I position my stand (s) only in these areas. Public hunting lands are so much more satisfying as I also have to find a spot where other hunters will not hinder my hunt. I LOVE this challenge as much as geting my deer. Not like many who hunt privarte lands and are shooting their pets at the bait stations. I now also do ALL my scouting a full year in advance as I no longer live in that state, but still hunt there.

Jeff, you hit the nail on the head regarding the 15th of November being the peak here in the northern part of Indiana. I can’t count how many bucks (4+ year olds) that all of a sudden become killable. Best bucks I’ve killed and seen are from Nov 13-18. I think that’s the end of of peak breeding (2.5 days) and start of the post rut (2.5 days). Magical days to be on stand when all the factors line up.

I finally found my first actual buck bedding area. I was astounded by the amount of sign in such a tight area. I'm sure I stayed there too long got too close and totally I Messed it up.... But I was so excited Like I just was so happy that I finally found it. I tell you what it was like a freight train hit me in the head... Like I was looking and looking I put like a couple things together I'm like oh my gosh this is what that Habitat Guy says about deer. Is is my 3rd year Bow hunting. I have not had a chance to be out too much this year maybe 6 or 8 sits.. Or ground hunting and I have seen deer every time I went out. Is they used to alert me to their presence by Is me spooking them and watching them running away.. Now I can notice them 1st. Like you argued at what you do and your content is very helpful and I appreciate it. Just too bad you're from Wisconsin. Pretty sure we have bigger deer in Minnesota...

A lot of company’s make you take your vacation At least 2 months in advance. It’s not that easy to just pick days, and you always have the weekends off with a normal schedule job but in pa we only get Saturday to hunt, I did schedule my two weeks with the time period of the rut from last year, took your advice about the same time every year in your area. But I have from the 23rd to the 7th off. Will I hunt every day? No, but I’ll be picking good weather days in between, and even the days I’m not hunting it will be better than being at work lol but I’ve seen some amazing pre rut activity all through October, yesterday evening the 23rd was a amazing evening. I Grunted a buck in and he was grunting back. And I have to say the extinguisher grunt call is a great call. Being able to switch to a doe grunt and buck grunt really efficiently is awesome and the call just sounds great.

All from the ground too here in West Virginia. I have two archery 🏹 tags 🏷 so I can take one buck and one doe. I have 4-5 bucks on camera 📷 that I would love to see in range with a clear shot. A couple trophy does too. Good luck 🍀 out there Sir.

I sincerely enjoy as it happens whitetail info, without trying to sell some donkey deer 1000. Your info has given me another great angle to add to my whitetail tackle box. Your info works in Southern MD. Thank you!

Real eye opener for rut activity from North to South . I always believed that spring being later in the North that the rut would be later ??? so the fawns aren't born to early before green up ??? I guess I was wrong???

Always enjoy your videos! Ive learned alot. Ive got a question, hopefully you'll be able to answer it for me. I did a hot lap on our farm by an area I was going to set up that evening, my target buck was out eating so I left and set up the following evening. He did come as prodicted! But he came right under my climber. I shot low( bow) he jumped from the noise of the arrow, took a few steps. He walked off . he didn't blow at me or run off. What's my chances he'll take tbis same route and how long. Biggest buck to date I drew back on at least 4.5 years old. My nerves got the best of me. Thank you for your time.

Jeff, Love the content I have been practicing your techniques for the last 2 years and have had opportunities at mature bucks. Would love to get into more Wisconsin hunting to enjoy the rut more than what we get in MN. Its very unfortunate that MNDNR sets opener right at the start of the peak rut. Would like your take for Bow hunters on what to do peak rut in this situation. Would you consider a all day sit around Halloween knowing that the following weekend gun will open up?

I love watching your videos, its a huge learning experience, I hunt in SE MN, I was in the stand Friday morning at 5 am, at 8:45 I had 5 doe's come wondering by, heading to there bedding area. I left my stand at 10am and started heading back to the farm. after walking about 250 yards away from my stand, I seen one of the bucks I am targeting, with 2 other smaller bucks. Shouldn't they be out of there bachelor groups?? I figured the target buck would be more focused, on the females

Rut is starting early this year in Texas. Just sat and watched the bucks chasing. This usually doesn't happen till mid November...

The thing to remember is what creates rain. Cold air meeting warm air usually. So bucks aren't worried about freshening up after the rain, they're up moving because the rain passed and it's cold suddenly.

When you find rubs do you walk around the property on your way out or in bad weather conditions such as rainy days to not leave your scent??

Here in NC, our gun season is the Monday of Thanksgiving week, and I have always believed the rut had already been here and gone, by that time.we have bear season here and it closes the weekend before Thanksgiving week, so you would be lucky that the deer you have found the dogs hadn't been through there and hunters. Unless you are hunting out towards Boone NC or somewhere else.

Good morning Jeff wow that is a lot of great information on all the ruts. Just one question I put bait around my areas were I have mock scrap is that going to mess up the deer approach to the mock scrap

Hi Ralph...it can? Bait is always a risk to mature bucks...a mock scrape is not. I like to keep the two separate with 2 different stand locations.

Hello Jeff have a question. My food plot looks great, but they are not hitting it yet.which is good to me,I think they still have enough food out at the big ag fields.once it's all cut it should bring them to my food plot correct.my plot is between the big ag fields and bedding.just wondering if I'm thinking right here in Central Pennsylvania

Hey Jeff I am in North Carolina. When do you think pre rut, peak rut and post rut will be hitting here since we are in the south? I hear a lot of different dates from people but to me the peak rut seems to be right before Thanksgiving but I don't have many mature bucks in the area I hunt.

I know the feeling. Keep in the fight. I blew a shot at a big six point and thought my day was done, sat up against a log all dejected and had a huge 10 point sneak in behind me. Doe caught me turning and blew and I screwed the pooch on him too! Promptly never forgave myself.

great video! small question: how can someone determine when the rut begins in a certain area... example: I'm situated in northern Quebec and some say it starts in december.. others say in late or mid november... How do I determine through deer activity "the when" in my specific area...? thanks!

I hunt a small 30 acre parcel where I’ve had at least 3-4 mature bucks every year even in early October and this year I haven’t had a buck come through at all but I have a bunch of does coming in to a new food plot I put in(brassicas). Should I wait to hunt it until lock down?

Northwest GA. > The family group of 7-deer I watch, 3-old enough to breed, based on when they had fawns last year, & counting back 5-months, & 3-weeks. Therefore, a hunter in my area should start sitting for Pre-Rut on Nov. 15th. Because the Rut will *Peak* on Nov. 23rd. / Then the bucks will recouporate & Post Rut will start approx. Dec. 24th.
