Nothing sad about her life? Did you read between the lines of the commentator's text? Did you not notice that Julie Andrews was badly and repeatedly abused by her stepfather so her only way out was to lock herself into her bedroom? Are we not aware that such terrible experiences leave life-long marks on a girl's soul? ... and that those memories tend to come back in one's later age?

There is nothing wrong with the great Julie Andrews being 90 years of age. Life is endless! Age is not the flight of years, but the dawn of wisdom. Some people are old at 30, while others are young at 90. The mind is the master weaver, the architect, the designer and the sculptor. The ace up her sleeve is her monumental talent. Some people have a genetic basis for their longevity that cannot quite be comprehended. Even at 90 Ms. Andrews is the epitome of something that never dates. Over the years, she has grown more exquisite than ever. The collage of her stage and movie appearances was quite fascinating. Even though she won an Oscar for Mary Poppins, I preferred her in The sound of music. It was a wonderfully crafted movie with grandeur, elegance and style, and it's heart in the right place. It was powered by brilliant performances by Ms. Andrews and Christoper Plummer.. The film was beautiful, classy, glossy and worth every frame in which it was encompassed. It portrayed human complexities that were layered. It is difficult to envision any other actress than Julie to portray the part of Maria. Her portrayal was nuanced and captivating, exuding an air of authority and fragility. From 1965, she grew exponentially as a star-actor. From the stage in Camelot [with Richard Burton] to winning an Oscar for Mary Poppins to achieving world re-known, with The Sound of Music and carrying that legacy forward with films like Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Tamarind Seed, Victor-Victoria, there's no denying that Julie magically melted seamless into every character she essayed. A lot of her acting was subtext and emotions - what her characters were feeling and doing, rather than what they were saying. The self-deprecation is typical of her homespun attitude - her saving grace in an industry that is full of affectation. Whether Julie Andrews is 19 or 90 she will always be loved - the world over.

Julie is 88 now in 2023. She looks great for that age. It is not easy to get old. Lots of aches and pains. Peace and quiet. Silence and rest. The aging process of evolution is quite cruel. Also wondrous in its own way. To say on KZread that every old actor now had a tragic life is clickbait and not the truth of life. They know if they type "The Tragic Life Of" it will get loads of clicks. She had difficulties like losing her singing voice, but she was also extremely fortunate. Yes: talented and hard-working and beautiful. Her dedication to and love for her husband Blake is so remarkable. She and her daughter wrote wonderful children's books later. Actors who still take on roles in old age are great. Long live. The Sound of Music. Make music. Not war.

If I were Julie, I would make a beeline to my attorney's office and demand that whoever/whatever thought it was a good idea to distort her face like that and put it on the internet (or anywhere else) be sued for all he/she/it is worth. Of course no 90-year-old's face is going to look as youthful and pristine as it did decades ago, but that particular disfigurement is amateurishly and cruelly done. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME on whoever did that.

I don't find her life tragic at all. No doubt, she's had her fair share of emotional and mental struggles, but we all have in one way or another. One thing is for sure though...her poise, charm, and grace through it all is second to none. This is a woman who has been such an influence for SO MANY years and her personal struggles are a part of how she got to the point of influence. She's truly an inspiration to those of us who appreciate the charm and emotional maturity it takes to remain friends with an ex. Her acting and singing are wonderful and her face is that of an angel. I truly love Julie Andrews and the only tragic thing about her life will be the day that the rest of us will be robbed of her presence on this earth. But... angels belong in Heaven. I'm glad that she's here with us and has been given a good many years to share her beauty and her exceptional spirit.

No matter how old Dame Julie gets, I will ALWAYS love her. She's survived tragedy and heartache without being vindictive to others. When her voice was impaired, God opened a door for her through writing and acting; therefore, she still entertains people all over the world. There's no law that says talent or ability ends when we get older. She's one of a legion of entertainers in their eighties and nineties still going strong. There's Dames Maggie Smith and Judi Dench, Shirley MacLaine, Ellen Burstyn, Carol Burnett, Shirley Jones, and let us not forget the incomparable Dame Angela Lansbury. These ladies are all very versatile actresses who have not allowed age to deter them. A standing ovation to them all!!! So proud that God has allowed Dame Julie to still be with us, and I love her relationship with her daughter.

She's 88 years of age. She'll be 89 next year in May. I was very impressed with her dramatic performances in "Duet for One", "STAR: and "That's Life". But her audience didn't warm up to her portrayals as they were hard-edged and they preferred the entertaining musicals. She also did some critically acclaimed television shows.
