Utterly uninspiring. I can't get onboard with this. Call me dramatic but this will end in tears, Sullivan hasn't got a clue. Just an insipid Pygmy running the show. Poor Noble and Steidten, a mere £12m (less than a championship player) to get their man but the tyrannical dwarf needs to play football manager. Personally I hope the two of them walk away. So once again Sullivan decides to employ the worst choice available and when it all turns out to be much of a muchness the board and media will run the rhetoric that it’s what the fans wanted just like pellegrini. I've only watched a couple of games this year because the football has been dire, if we get this manager in then I doubt I will watch any games until he leaves mid season for pissing the board off as is expected with him.

I said in response to one of the recent Hammers Chat videos that Sullivan was going to control all of this new manager business, and that he would be looking for a manager who would anchor us to mid table, between eighth and 11th place, and I got all kinds of pelters from some people here for being a negative fan. Nah, just reading the landscape. Thus as it ever was. I think, until Sullivan and West Ham are parted, through whatever means, I’ll just start calling this club “ David Sullivan‘s West Ham”. It will be posted on the marquee that way, and when anyone asks what the fuck is happening at the stupid club, you can just point to the marquee and “say there you go, this is David Sullivan‘s West Ham.”

If we miss out on Lopetegui, so be it. Howe, Poch both face uncertain futures and O’Neil could walk. Ipswich MIGHT (unlikely and I hope not) blow it today and play offs.

Underwhelming news

This really does not make sense. Steiden is currently finding attacking players for WH. Lopo is a defensive manager. WH fans have complained continually, about our boring and defective defensive play. Lopo has history of falling out with the owners. AC Milan have declared they do not want Lopo. This is toxic, so are the Board living in a different world, have they chosen to ignore logic, do they have no ambition, and do they really not want to have a WH club, they can sell at a high price in the future. If this goes forward, I can see at least a half empty Stadium and our best players evacuating asap, and perhaps along with Steiden. Really thought WH were aiming to progress forwards and upwards. Let's hope this is false news, and Sully is playing silly buggers again with false rumours.

If this is true then that's my west ham journey done. I was prepared to keep going but to replace moyes with this guy is disgusting. Steidten is a fraud. Shambles.

What is the point of Steidten? I am not sure anything he has done other than sow discontent without winning any argument. We are getting Moyeslite. If this is the option I’d rather stick than twist.

The football he played at Wolves was needs must football. We have complained we don’t want a manager wedded to one philosophy and he’s proven that. Amorim may not want to come. All this Tim/Mark should get what they want chat is empty if the guy doesn’t want to come. For a Sullivan pick, this is pretty far away from a bad one. Consider what we could have done. We know full well that it can go tits up in the Prem. We need a manager capable of getting us out if we fall into a bad season - just like last season. Lopetegui has that. His style isn’t based on solid defence and counters, but he knows that game. As such, he is probably ideally sat to transition us on from where we are. You don’t get the Spain and Real Madrid jobs if you can’t coach individuals, nor if you’re considered a boring coach. He’s won a European trophy, and pedigree was on the list for many. He’s played good football at multiple places. He sustained good teams in good positions. That might sound like nothing, but it’s undoubtedly a sign of a good manager. Once would be lucky, but Sevilla and Porto were at least kept in positions of strength, if not improved in small ways. Hell, he’s a good version of the safe hands we usually get. Even Mendes, snake as he is, is a better snake for the club to be in bed with than the amateurs on Sully’s contacts list. Experienced managers are better suited for an overhaul at a club like ours. He’s not going to get overawed nor drive us into ideology.

Hang on the team now might be just a shadow of what we will have without new players next season. Equally the team/squad is top heavy ie most of the strength is in about 5 players (the most likely to go) with serious drop off thereafter in either quality or age and thus rapidly approaching decline. And that is before we deal with overall squad depth emphasised by a total lack of effort this season of bringing on youth players to prepare and develop them beyond. We are in danger if being left a poison pill by Moyes if TS and any new Manager doesn’t do a very good job this Summer. Part of me fears this is Moyes bruised ego determining that ‘if I can’t have them no one will’.

Not one of the managers in the frame have said they would love to manage West Ham ..

OK, that's my theory that Steiden might be off in smoke. But let's view it this way: if Steiden's opinion is important, and I think in general we are happy with his recruitment so far, so it follows that if he gives Lopetegui the thumbs up, then the chances are that he will be good for West Ham? It just wouldn't make sense that Lopetegui would be hired against Steiden's advice.

I’m confused by the rhetoric, we go from “anyone but Moyes”, to “rather keep Moyes”. I don’t remember any indication that Lopetegui was demanding to oversee the scouting and transfer infrastructure at wolves, but he left because his team was being sold from under him. This is a manager that has won trophies, and now we’ve got a scouting and negotiations specialist to manage that side of the house. Strange search for negativity here

@@HammersChat I’m honestly aligned with most of your opinions on managers out there that we’ve been linked with, aside from Lopetegui, which, obviously we’re all entitled to have our opinions. I think his Madrid team pressed high but it was always an impossible task to come in and steady that ship immediately after Ronaldo departed. Had a great run to win the Europa league with Sevilla, then came in to wolves and improved their results. Tbh I’m just ready to see the back of this season and Moyes, and get on to preseason with a new manager

I get that but I just think we have such a good opportunity and don’t believe Lopetegui is taking advantage of that opportunity. At Wolves he didn’t play Ait-Nouri and I’d consider him to be their best player this season and I agree, he did a good job there, like I said, I think he’s a safe pair of hands and he would do okay here, I just want better than that.

With julen lopetegui depends on what players he has style wise ...at porto he played a 4-4-3 hes won cups and has plenty of experience with young players ...when he went to wolves they were rock bottom and he managed them to stay up ...

Don't know anything about him or how he likes his football played, but from what people are saying on here and on twitter it doesn't look a good option. Weird because he has a very good CV and big teams like AC milan and Bayern are interested in him.

The transitional development between Moyes and the new head coach may be helped by the cushion of retaining Paqueta, Kudus and Alvarez. Going to take it as given that Bowen will be staying regardless. That should mean whoever replaces Moyes will not get us relegated, but I'm hoping that we can do better than just maintain our PL status. Lopetigui does not inspire me with being able to take us to the next level. I could be wrong.
