Your way to "learn the aircraft" became a passion. No pew pew for me until I can fly a traffic pattern with the grace and control of a ballerina... And after that: no pew pew without clean execution of weapon employment procedures. It's n addiction! ❤

    If you read stuka pilot diaries, they disabled it as a useless feature which took away their control and freedom. "And what did we think of the new automatic recovery system that was now being installed in production Ju 87s? Not a lot, was the short answer to that. It was useless on operations, as it couldn’t be manually overridden. We didn’t want it, didn’t need it, and had it disconnected on all our new machines the moment they were delivered. Once the enemy’s Flak gunners cottoned on to the fact that every one of us was recovering and climbing away at exactly the same height and at exactly the same angle they would have had an absolute field day. During this most vulnerable phase of our attack we needed full tactical freedom of movement, which is why we preferred to fly by hand. This enabled us to twist and turn in all directions and thus gave us a much better chance of being able to dodge whatever Flak was being thrown at us." Memoirs Of A Stuka Pilot by Helmut Mahlke

    I suppose you could offset very slightly but personally I always just use the crosshair and it's good enough for me. If I take the wing bombs I'll either drop them at the same time as the center bomb IF I'm attacking a large target (bridges/facilities), otherwise I'd drop the center bomb first then do a shallower dive angle against smaller/softer targets.

  • @RequiemsACTL

    @RequiemsACTL

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hi Nick, there are two things you need. 1. What you want to do (in any of the aircraft) is climb out at "Climb Power" if it's available, otherwise climb using the power setting that allows for no time limit on it. 2. Be aware of your maximum takeoff weight. It takes a little math to work out, but you may need to reduce your fuel load depending on how heavy your bomb load is. You must never exceed your maximum takeoff weight as that is a limitation on any airplane. If your runway is shorter you will need to take less fuel also to increase your takeoff performance. I'll let you try and have a go at figuring it out first, so if you have trouble let me know and I'll explain it. Check out this thread and look at the Ju 87 D-3 to find the "empty weight" "minimum weight" etc to figure out your takeoff weight based on your bomb load: forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/25993-aircraft-flight-and-technical-specifications-and-operational-details/ I don't own a VkB Gladiator joystick (not sure why you thought that). I use a Logitech G940 with MFG Crosswind pedals.

    In both the JU 87 and the JU88 I find when I go into a dive, the plane becomes uncontrollable. Could you be so kind as to do a video on how to not have this happen. I was just sent on a mission in a JU 88 to dive bomb some ships. By adjust the stabilizer I could get the plane to dive ok, but it wanted to spin. How do you stop this spinning? This is what happens in the JU87 as well. As soon as I start diving the plane want to spin.

  • @RequiemsACTL

    It sounds like you are applying too much forward stick too quickly resulting in too much negative Angle of Attack for your airspeed, leading to a stall and/or spin. Either roll inverted to dive and attack or push forward on the stick much more gradually.

    Are the inverted roll really in the manual of how stuka dive bombing method?, because the other country method just diving with 45-90 degree?, can you help why would the inverted roll matter?

  • @RequiemsACTL

    @RequiemsACTL

    6 жыл бұрын

    Pushing over or "bunting" with negative G is definitely a way the Luftwaffe did it AFAIK from what I've read. I remember seeing videos too though where they roll over inverted so I don't think it matters which way you choose to get in position. What is important is that your dive ends up very steep about 80-90° and on target, so use what works for you. I simple prefer rolling inverted because it gets me lined on my target faster and the pullout after dropping the bombs automatically places me on 180 degrees off my entry heading and away from the target area.

    3 years later but rockets were pretty whatever in reality too. For IL-2s the the ROFS-132s are the best and I like to use them against fortifications and large targets such as trains, firing in pairs. Don't expect to get kills with individual weapons, this is WWII, air support is *not* that accurate yet.

    @@PauloPereira-jj4jv germans commited the error of bombing civilians, in poland, UK and spain: the spaniards and brits didn't care that much about the war that was going on(the civil war and ww2) but once they started bombing civilians, they sided and fought with the the good guys, since they'd rather die on the frontline than hiding in their houses

    @@RequiemsACTL oh boy VR is fun, but scary. It's like you hear a bang and next thing you know holes in wings and something might be on fire. In terms of stuka dives it can be disorienting at first and then you notice you are literally flying at the ground.

    great, except the bombs will never explode, so I guess you missed a step or 2 , and since you can't interact with the cockpit, is anybody's guess how to fucking arm those or remove safe or whatever it is.

    @@MititeluRadu It is not a workaround and based on reality. Sub 5 seconds employs the contact fuze, which needs time for it to arm after the release of the aircraft. Over 5 seconds employs the inertial fuze.
