    Yep, I was gonna comment that if JR really believed they did the best with the talent they had, then he knows a lot less about the business than I thought he did. Every ex-WCW either got buried or dropped their title to a WWF guy almost immediately. As he said, the pool was way more limited, but they certainly could have made a team of 4 that would've been seen as legit contenders to the top guys in WWF at the time.

    That Invasion angle really was garbage. I remember watching always hoping that week that a big name would show up. Booker T, DDP, and RVD were great, but I never understood until later why no other big name was there. A shame, it could have been a heck of a fondly remembered story.

  • @JMFSpike

    @JMFSpike

    2 жыл бұрын

    They should have held off on the invasion angle until most of the contracts ended. That would have also prevented the need to group WCW and ECW together. Keeping all 3 promotions separate would have made things far more interesting. In order to keep people interested until those contracts ran out and they could properly do the angle, they could have kept teasing what was too come with vignettes, promos and such. Once it finally started, they would have probably been able to keep the angle going for somewhere between 3-6 years and reignited the wrestling boom that died when WCW went down. That would have also made for the shortest gap between wrestling boom periods ever.

  • @Michael-ut6zb

    @Michael-ut6zb

    The invasion angle needed star power. This is where the NWO should have been used in WWE instead of the following year later. They could have had Vince appearing at the simulcast only to be interrupted by the NWO led by Shane Mcmahon. They could have made it like they were running the show and then battle with the Rock, Austin, Angle etc. it's a shame how it all played out.

  • @jameswesten2018

    @jameswesten2018

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yeah I kinda think of that point as when WWE peaked and started to downslide. NWO didn't make it for 2 reasons: 1. Vince didn't invent it,so he couldn't have it be bigger or better than his creations, and 2. Something happened that nobody predicted, people started cheering for Hogan.
