Journey to the Gas Giants [4K]
Ғылым және технология
Far beyond the reaches of the four rocky planets, we find our Solar System's showpiece worlds- the two gas giants, Jupiter and Saturn. As the two largest planets, both are tantalising targets for probes exploring the planetary neighbourhood. But both lie significantly farther from the sun than the Earth and its terrestrial neighbours. But in the early 1970s, the technology for deep space voyages was primed, and missions to both Jupiter and Saturn ensued. Those missions make up the topic of our video today, in this second episode of our trilogy of Probes that Studied the Solar System.
PROBES Episode 2: Journey to the Gas Giants
The next video will be the last of 2023, and it should be out around Christmas.

If you have not won an award for your channel, you should. It is an amazing effort and makes astrophysics accessible to a very large audience.

Not minimizing SEA, but it’s crazy how some guy can create far superior productions to major tv channel.

I agree. I'd like a bit more technical narration, though. Like, more details on atmospheric composition etc. Or maybe what kind of equations you need to pull off these missions, and how a layman can relate to them.

Well said. Sea does a great job breaking down complex astrophysical topics for a general audience, and doesn’t heavily use technical jargon

If anything is the imagery I recall from my early youth, it is that brought home by those astounding probes, Pioneer 10 and 11, and Voyager 1 and 2. Without it, I doubt i would have gone on to become an aerospace engineer.
Thank you so much for the detailed accounts of the Pioneers! I've seen so many "documentaries" that never mentioned them at all, and they were the first to the Giants and the first to leave the solar system!

I recently bought my first house and played all your videos while I painted the rooms and did some minor repair over the course of two months before fully moving in. Your videos are the best and are now forever part of my memory of my new home. I was born and raised in Hawaii but moved away. This video is so fitting for me to finally have made a comment with a Hawaiian name given to the super cluster. Thank you.

I would like to recommend doing a video about Cixin Liu’s Three Body Problem series subjects. F.ex.: How do human research approach the reality of a hostile extraterrestrials.
Just amazing that one very smart guy on his own can out-do all the resources the BBC has on hand to produce a space program this entertaining, enlightening and endearing….! Who would have believed it possible only a few short decades ago… Many thanks for bringing us with you along your journey into the astonishing world of astrophysics!
As always, your videos are wonderfully composed, from the topics discussed down to the visuals and music. I truly am more amazed with each video you put out; the amount of skill required to not only explain the information you're presenting, but also understand it enough to convey it effectively... it's (pardon the pun) out of this world. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for you, SEA. Things can only keep going up from here, and I can't wait to witness it. ♥

No matter how many times I hear about these probes I'm always floored by the brilliance of the people who worked on them and all of the things they had to figure out and account for. Very awe inspiring.
24:07 this was so unexpected, but a welcome one.
Finally a Sea video, I always love watching them to forget about everyday problems, also this channel has one of the best quality of all astronomy focused channels on KZread ❤

Thank you for covering the ingenious Pioneers probes. I love the tension of the first passage through the asteroid belt.
It is just staggering to learn about all of the space probes that have been launched and where they are decades after. Astronomy is truly mind blowing.
The Galileo Jupiter probe surviving up to 18,000K is insane, I can hardly such a thing is possible. Wow
The suspect white discharge of the great white spot 😭 this is by far one of my favourite youtube channels, if not my absolute favourite. Keep the amazing videos coming!
I remember when you did GD content, good to see you have come this far! (PS I miss the riot-cyclic rivalry video pls repost it lmao).
Never ceases to amaze me how criminally underrated this channel still is. Thank you for delivering us consistently phenomenal content. Please know just how much we all appreciate your effort; you’re doing something truly great here. Much love to you my friend ❤
Love that little "21 night of September" easter egg!!!
Personally space has always been an interesting topic
I just wanted to say, I’m asleep for half of the videos you make but I still really enjoy them. Very educational, very high quality, very professional. But not boring, and still quite unique
Your videos have honestly reinvigorated my love of space, the detail, organization, and care you put into these videos is so appreciated. Thank you
Our limited knowledge of the cosmos makes me envious of the future. New discoveries within solar system and beyond will be discovered long after we pass. We as enthusiasts will never see or hear about these new discoveries, but we have SEA to guide us through what we currently understand. That I’m thankful for.
People can say w3hat they like about these space probes. They truly went the distance. Litteraly and figuratively. Pioneer. Voyager. Galileo and Cassini truly performed and showed us what was out there.
Earth Wind and Fire reference, priceless!!! I had to rewind to make sure I heard what I thought I heard! LOL 😂
Another absolute gem of a video. You should be on a streaming service.

SEA great hanging out with you today. Great Part 2. Can't wait until Part 3.
Nothing like a cozy and warm SEA video after a day working in the frigid cold!
These kind of astronomy documentaries are what used to be on the Science Channel back when it wasn’t mostly reality shows. Except this doesn’t have the resources of a whole tv network conglomerate behind it; it’s just this channel. What a giant accomplishment!
Outstanding videos this and the previous one. You can't go wrong with the solar system. Basically we are not yet to the point to travel to interstellar space but in the meantime we have a pretty awesome solar system to explore. Great series. I can't wait for the next one!

30:22 Those photos of the decent and landing onto Titan always bring me such joy. Simply amazing.
I cannot express how enjoyable these videos are. A well-written, well-read script. Beautiful imagery. And most important, no ads for scams or tat nobody needs, no aggressive plugging of your other socials, just a short frame with no narration, \btw, I'm also here, but I won't ruin the flow of the video pitching them to you.' Stay classy, Sir!
This was amazing! Your talent is next level, these videos could be documentaries on Netflix etc. Thanks for such incredible content!
Jupiter wind and fire! Nice job, another gem in a long and consistent catalog of quality content!
It is anathema to one’s astronomical education to ever miss a Sam E. Anderson video!! 💫🙏

Your channel brings back so many good childhood memories of mine. Back then my parents would bring me encyclopedias and picture books to read about these planets and heavenly bodies cause they know how much I love astronomy. I found this channel to be extremely informative and easy to listen to, it’s like reading those encyclopedias again but on a much more visual and documentary style.
Love your stuff man! Thank your making such quality content available for free. God bless you!
