Okay, I've been a Journey fan since I purchased their Infinity album (on vinyl) almost 40 years ago. Dang, I'm old. Journey is awesome. They were, and ARE a great band. When Steve Perry QUIT the band I was bummed. For years... no Journey. Then they found Arnel Pineda. If you are such a purist that you can't accept the brilliance of Pineda, then I feel sorry for you. Not only did he resurrect the band, he made them better. Listen to this video. They are amazing... easily as good as they ever were before, and I think better. Forget Pineda, watch the other guys in this video. They are better than ever. Thanks, Arnel.

I was looking for a good band song and I keep on seeing Arnel Pineda's name and kept on ignoring it. Then I click on one video. This is just this month. Now I'm a huge fan of the singer. I read the story and the original Steve Perry, he was great to hear but he didn't had this stage magic Pineda has. This guy is so pleasing to watch. I've been listening since then. Will definitely buy the CD to keep. The life story of himself is just as amazing, as the Journey band. This group have found each other, perfect match.

Imagine from 10+ yrs old up to now. How many prime years they could've gotten out of Arnel. Mad. If they've found him younger. Arnel has such great pipes even at a young age. He has sang Alone by Heart like nobody's business. Crazy.

Pineda is a better person, a better singer, and better period. he actually cares to be on stage with his band and feels like a part of the band. He brings more soul and feel to the music. Arnel sounds better live than Perry does studio hands down. I've always been a Journey fan but Arnel brought more to the table

Amen. His mother died at a very young age and Arnel was homeless for almost 2 years. This guy deserves EVERYTHING good in life.

Finding Arnel Pineda by Neal Schon at the last hour was by Divine appointment. For a beautiful reason : To bring the magical music of Journey to the new generation who are in dire need of hearing well-written, well-performed music which the generation of today pitifully lacks. Without a doubt, Arnel is a gift to the legendary guys of Journey and Journey is likewise, heaven-sent for Arnel. Let no hatred be, spread the love instead.

I admit, it was tough to make the transition from Perry to Pineda...but they both sound amazing. I think of Pineda as carrying on the Journey sound...with his own unique twist. Phenomenal.

I wouldn't say Perry has a whiny voice, but his voice is much thinner in comparison to Arnel's. Arnel has a broader and more powerful voice. Both great singers though.

That was probably a magical night for those who were present.

Arnel. Arnel.Arnel. This might be my absolute favorite performance of this song since I heard it for the first time as a teenager in the 80's. Simply moving from ALL band members. It's absolutely moving me to tears. TY Journey! I may be too broke to buy tickets but having this performance for free any time in my living room is priceless. To all musicians, TY for this GIFT.

This guy isn't Steve Perry but damn he's good. In my opinion they're interchangeable.

I think he sings as well as Steve Perry in terms of vocal ability (tone, power, range). They are both amazing singers but just have different styles. Sometimes I like the way Arnel sings a part in a song more than the way Steve did, and sometimes vice versa. It's just great to have 2 options like that lol

Lol but the difference is so small they might as well be the same singer but on different nights. Really, it's amazing. If you were never told they switched singers, and you heard both, there is no way you would know there were two. Come on, admit it ;).

To be honest. No one can replace Steve Perry, point taken. I don't like Arnel's first performances but as the time goes on, he gets better and better. He use Perry's voice as a base and he makes his own version. I appreciate.

Arnel was adamant first to use Perry's voice in the beginning but Schon and Cain told him that they want him to sound close to Perry's for the audience. But as soon as Arnel has build up his own Fan base, he was allowed to use his own style.

Love Journey with Steve Perry but I dont know how anyone can say anything bad about Arnels voice. Very powerful. He has an amazing voice.

I'm not takin anything away from Steve Perry, Journey wouldn't ever have happened w/o him,,,,But this guy is amazing and can sing ANYTHING!!! I have since listened to everything he's ever done and this guy can cover anyone from Chicago, Air Supply Bon Jovi to Bryan Adams and has plenty of his own originals. I would love to see him Live w/ Journey now!

Arnel is the live story of a poor kid making it in the big time. He's amazing beyond words can describe. Steve Perry should have manned up and done a duo concert tour with Arnel. The crowds would have been enormous because everyone loves a hero and his equal being friends!

I'm a singer, I have to disagree.. techniques and ways to sing are pretty much constant unless something has been innovated. If you're talking about style, that can be true if you're talking about music in general of course, but with singing.. it's not like singers in the 21st century suddenly just forgot about all the previous musical styles that came before them, in fact, as a musician, you would know more about music especially those that came before you. Good and experienced singers can easily change their manner of singing if they wanted to emulate different styles and easily switch in and out of whatever style it is they want. The similarity in Arnel and Steve's voices is so uncanny.. but at the same time you can still hear the distinction between that two which makes them unique to their own, and makes them who they are.. themselves.

saw Journey in Manchester NH on the soccer field, the location where the Fishercats stadium is now. Arnel was terrific

What a blessing for Journey and the Filipino heritage for both to find each other. Music causes people to fall in love. Nations to go to war. Countries to elect Presidents. Out of the poverty and pain Arnel held on to his dreams. Now he is blessed and so is Journey to have him. Now so are we to feel hope through those gifted songs we so eagerly waited upon as children.

Arnel nails it. It's not like Perry never had his vocal slips either? This just brings the live experience of Journey to a new set of fans for a lot longer time frame. Kudos to all of them for their time and effort in keeping the Journey train running.

That's true. I do think Arnel is exceptional with the vocals to songs that would have been difficult for anyone but Steve Perry to perform. Everything happens for a reason and I for one am very happy that Arnel has found success. It is his time to shine. Steve Perry will always have a special place in my heart. Over 40 years ago I saw him with Journey on Star Search and I thought they would make it big for sure. I was impressed and loved his voice so much that it doesn't matter how things turned out. I suppose the way they were supposed to turn out. Never knew why Steve left the band though. Guess I wish them well and success with their current lead singer. He is great. There is room for all to share in the success of this band. Didn't want them to disappear into the old rock band graveyard just yet and now they don't have to.

When a band loses an iconic front man like Journey did when Steve Perry quit the band, it usually means the end of the band. Ask INXS if you don't believe it. But then Neil Schon caught lightning in a bottle. The impossible happened. At the Hard Rock in Makati, Philippines he found Arnel Pineda. I've been a Journey fan for decades, but if Steve Perry asked to permanently come back to the band I would hope that Neil would turn him down.

Getting chills watching our own gems. Definitely we are one hell of a country.

You heard it first from steve. But if you heard it from somebody first then you will like to hear from that person who sang it first. That's the way originality is. But keeping the music, the band, the journey alive is to keep on moving. And by moving on we need to accept whom ever they put in place to keep on with the journey. Unless you are more of and "I" than "We" in a band. Again steve is steve and arnel is arnel. Arnel have his own style and so with steve. But arnel was hired to atleast copy how steve sang the songs. Check arnel's original band song "pain in my heart" he's using his original voice. Journey songs after all these years and Take the world down tonight are both original song with arnel. Arnel was discovered 2007 and the song released in 2008. I hope we can all agree that we need to give them both respect. 😁
