Journals: Commonplace, Pre-Reading, & Mother’s Diary. Helps w/ retention, meaningful conversations

Keeping these journals is a new goal for myself on my home education / life education journey. These are written narrations that I can keep and use to look back on and remember what I loved or thought about most and want to ponder with my children in future conversations when they read it, plus notes for content that should be discussed or prepared for in advance.
This is definitely work and a new discipline that I will have to work at, but I am trying to lay it out in the best way to be of help in future, and put the time in that will help it pay off!
Inspired in part by one of my favorite channels - Elizabeth at Full of Wonder Momma - and her encouragement and example to pre-read the books our kids are reading, and to make written narration for future reference.

Thank you for commenting about your plans for the Mother's Diary. They are both beautiful and touching.

The way this video concluded with the mother’s diary impacted me somehow. I am a single woman without any children and may never be married, but I want a heart for my children in the faith and want to leave a legacy of the Gospel. I thought of a woman in my own life who never had biological children but left an impact on me. Thank you for sharing this part of your story; it touched the heart of a single woman who wants to be wholeheartedly devoted to Jesus.

Thank you for your comment, I am so glad for your heart. Yes, we can have spiritual mothers and we can spiritually mother others - Romans 16:13 is a perfect example. I think it is good for single Christians to be open to either way of what God has to them, neither closed to the possibility of marriage nor focused on it. Singleness is a wonderful time to use for the glory of God, when familial obligations are not there. Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth is beautiful example of mothering many younger women, and she was single until her 50s I believe, so she had given up any expectation of marriage and served the Lord in her singleness for many many years.

I just subscribed to your channel, it’s one of the few I can find for ADE reviews. I really have enjoyed your videos. My mother passed as well, have you or would you ever mind making a video talking about where your love for books, education and Christ came from? Your philosophy on education and life is inspiring 😊

I’m tearing up and very inspired all at once. Also, I like the idea of making notes during pre-reading. Thanks!

I'm starting to come back around the CM style and definitely need to at least have a pre-reading journal. Good choice with the dot journals! P.s. I've missed seeing content from the channel you mentioned in the description. I wonder what happened with her...

I like them all but I wanted to comment on the mothers diary. I have thought about getting things set up if something was to happen to me as well. With your mother passing, I can see why that is something on your mind. Glad you received the gift of being able to read her testimony! Even if something doesn’t happen, it’ll be a lovely keepsake to give your children when they get older 💕

Yes, I want to leave behind blessings - whether near or far, I’ll die some day. I can imagine them being able to look back on it years and years later and I hope it would be a blessing then. I have thought a lot about the words “inheritance” and “heritage” - and how money is only one small thing we can leave behind, and inheritance can mean so much more, and we can invest in our children’s lives in many ways day by day, over the years, and interest of a different kind may compound over the years 😉
