That's sort of self-evident isn't it? Believing you are the best and striving to be the best are antithetical. As soon as you think you can do no wrong- mistakes become common. Even problematic, or dangerous. Take the territorial ambitions in Libanon for example: Hezbollah is not Hamas. That is a fight Israel might well lose. Strictly tactically speaking. They know this. They are still trying to start that war because they have weapons of mass destruction, and will need to use those to actually defeat Hezbollah militarily. Their tactics right now aline with this solution. If Israel is attacked the way Hezbollah for sure could- an existential threat could be legitimately claimed, and a launch approved. But the way more likely outcome is the tactical defeat of Israel, and a dissolution of its statehood. The wherry last thing they would actually want to have happen. This is just how arrogant they really are, and how delusional it has made them. The guy who thinks he is the smartest guy in the room will be wrong 100% of the time. Their parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts many of them equally smart were considered inhuman, dogs and 'less than' others and that allowed Nazis to throw them in gas chambers and treat them as able to be abused and murdered with no remorse. The argument that starvation will inspire Gaza to overthrow Hamas is disingenuous at best. In other words, Israel knows that this will never happen. For people who are victims of oppression, support is doubled for their leaders when the oppression doubles. There is literally no other path to maintaining dignity and resistance, and Israel knows this. But they don't care about Hamas. They only care about genocide.

Exactly. Not many supported Hamas in the West Bank before October 7, but support increased when Israel released some of those - including women and children - who had been kept in so-called administrative detention. People knew that the release of their relatives only came about as the result of the way the negotiations vis-a-vis the Israeli hostages and jailed Palestinians were handled.

I may be wrong here, but I would suggest that it wouldn't really matter who the party was that was in power in Gaza - and whether one would agree with their politics at any other time or not - but the fact that they are there at all and offer some kind of resistance to Israel is enough for the Palestinians.

The ones on the video weren't old enough to have survived Nazi Germany. When I lived in Berkeley I worked for a woman who escaped and came to the US and she had friends who were in the camps. They were all awesome human beings. Watch some of the concentration camp survivor videos. They have a ton to teach us all about treating everyone humanely and not dehumanizing people based on the color of skin, ethnicity, religion, etc. These people who really went THROUGH it have valuable information to share and from watching so many of these very long interviews I could begin to see the pattern of 'CONCENTRATION' of other humans in prejudice by making their worlds smaller and smaller socially, financially, emotionally, and they were not treated as humans BOTH Hamas and the people on this film are mirroring each other in being heartless and wanting all of 'their kind' to be annihilated. They are ALL dehumanizing the other which is a fundamentally flawed attitude and a sin.

No, shame on Hamas for starting this brutality. All around the world we see Islamists slaughtering civilians, issuing fatwahs, fighting democracy and free speech and civil liberties. They massacred inocent civilians in Russia last week, in Israel on 10/7, in the US on 9/11 and at the Boston Marathon, in France, in Sweden, in Afghanistan, in Iraq. And when the victim states react by clamping down, we see all these hand wringing ninnies like pussycattom come out of the woodwork, weeping and wailing about civil rights for the murderers. There's a reason why Egypt and Jordan want nothing to do with these Palestinians, and won't let them into their countries.
