I graduated in 1975 from Alabama... I’m from South America it was Bear Bryant time.. amazing… And I was struck by the air, everywhere you breathed this feeling “we are champions here “… Tremendous pride… Huge focus on grit and determination… In the classes & everywhere… , it’s continued and improved,.. ..what a privilege for Kaylan DeBoer to inherit this situation and culture.. and focus on making it even better… I started the first international investment banking Boutique, in New York, in the mid 90’s, first created by a woman … And I remember telling my young bankers the second day - - “ there is many quality competitors in this field… So we’ve got a see what they do and make a better… See what we do and make it even better… The point is - let’s not reinvent the wheel… Let’s start with the wheel and make it astounding” .. I think that that’s what you do if you have a competitive mentality .. I am tremendously excited and hopeful for the next 10 years !

Spot on about the infrastructure. This is not the same Alabama that Saban inherited. Mal Moore and Saban completely revamped Alabama football.

Facts

The pressure to perform is ridiculously high at any major football school. If you are worried about expectations, go somewhere like Ole Miss or UK (no offense). I'm not sure being the coach to follow Saban brings more pressure than Sarkisian faced signing up for the Texas job.

Two comments: 1). difficult pill to swallow that defense staff has been ungraded. Saban may be the most brilliant defense mind of all time. I can see that the staff has been upgraded but it was always his defense - even his staff publicly said that . 2) you used the word d-bag. Immediate upgrade because it had me rolling . +1 Josh Pate

It'd be fair to say I think, that while at the Head Coach position we didn't upgrade (That'd be physically impossible, the GOAT is the GOAT for a reason), we probably upgraded across the board at the assistant and position coach levels. It was a noticeable problem from 2020 - now, that Saban couldn't get the guys to come in as assistants that he wanted. People were getting wary to commit to his staff because of his age and I think he saw that writing on the wall when he retired. He didn't want to drag the program and school he'd built up, down just because he couldn't make the hires he wanted. So bringing in a younger guy like DeBoer, that's proven he knows how to coach his way to victory. Helps with bringing in staff that aren't afraid to commit to the program.

Whoa Nelly!!! Let cross one bridge at a time. Let’s start playing some games first before people start saying Alabama is still Alabama.

It’s ridiculous to assume anyone that comes in behind the greatest coach to ever coach college football can keep Alabama at the pinnacle of college football before the season has even started. It is going to be a wait and see situation and I’m not talking about 1 seasons Let’s see where the program is in year 3 and 4 before anyone makes absurd predictions.

I'm just going to wait for results before I start praising Deboer. All I heard was the innards of the program have changed and Deboer is giving off positive vibes. Pretty sure nearly every head coach in the country could fit that bill. Also is it not a bit concerning that the fundamentals Saban set up are being changed, it just doesn't sound like Nick Saban is really involved after all?

why would he be? Too many cooks in the kitchen and shit wont get done. Saban is the GOAT but he and KDB are two different coaches with different philosophies and styles. Saban told the program the same thing when he got here, its his plan, don't fuck with it and get out of the way. The boosters wanted everything to be done like Bear Bryant did it, and nobody was the Bear, so they all failed because of it. Saban told them he wasn't the Bear, didn't coach like him, didn't talk like him, didn't run the same schemes, etc. And he ended up being even better. Point being, let the man who knows how to win do it his way, anybody trying to meddle or change it is a saboteur.

Nick Saban is retired. His involvement is HIS decision. He doesn’t owe Alabama anymore than he wants to give. You’re implying that the only way they can be successful is if Saban is still involved and couldn’t be more false. What results do you need to see for DeBoer to be a great coach? Look at the staff, the recruits, and his track record. Speaks volumes.

Just comments of a fair weather fan whose big on names and doesn't know schematic and understand Alabama just hired a Cheat code on offense and the defense is going to be what Saban wanted it to be going in the future it would have been the third defense change but Kane Wommack is bringing the Nickel package of the 3/4 as a base in this new area of spread em out offense. But hey Kirby runs his program like you like I'm pretty sure they can use a new fan

A couple of three loss seasons is going to be the norm for basically everyone in the SEC that makes the playoff and doesn’t win the NC and it won’t be long before we have our first three loss college football national champion. I guess casuals think that Georgia is going to dominate the new SEC schedule and new playoff like they did a historically weak SEC east. The era of super teams is over 😂
