Race 2: I started in exactly the same spot as Race 1. Again got a blinder of a start, this time better than Jim Deans! So I was on the outside of him on entry to Duffus! I managed to out brake him into the corner, went on a wide line to avoid contact, off the usual racing line which I assumed Jim would take, and of course got tagged AGAIN by him going down Duffus. Got put onto the run off which I got spat off of and back into the path of Jim who then got put into the wall. I managed to somehow hold it in a "straight" line across the grass and then end up back on the black stuff, facing the right direction AND not having lost any places! So I cracked on trying to catch Steven Gray. The safety car came out at 4:40 which bunched us all back up again, but I got an awful restart (7:00) as the Knockhill safety car lights are tiny and impossible to see from a distance... Anyway catching Steven was going ok, before the overheating issue came back... You can also hear the rumbling of the rear stub axle wanting to go from 10:00 on. It completely bent at 11:55, but thought I could maybe limp it to the end to get SOME points at least, but then the overheating totally killed the car, and I had to pull it over to retire just 1 lap before the end. GUTTED. Turns out water was coming straight into the carb, aka head gasket.
Onwards and upwards though! I will be back with a vengeance next time, seeking that first overall win at Knockhill!
Thanks to Dominion Detailing for their continuing support, it was great having Rob down for the day to get in amongst the action! Andrew Lamont for rushing around to get me out in time for Qualifying!! Also thanks to Helen, my dad and crew for putting up with my frustrations during the day. John Balfour for his knowledge of the cars, and Gary, Barry, Wayne for the entertainment haha!
Well done to George and Wayne for having some good racing in the STs setting some blinding times (who will get the first 1:01 is the real battle!!), Andrew Winchester for getting his first win and 3rd place in the BMWs! Some man!
