Only just found this channel. Sad to hear the B58 shit itself, but it seems you have relentlessly hammered it around a track for a long time, which actually encourages me. I have an M140i, with an ITG air filter, Wagner 200 cell cat, and mapped to 455bhp/634nm, and I don't track it, just a weekend blast on country roads, so I think this makes me feel more confident if anything, that my car will be fine.

They are amazing track cars if set up properly ! You will mega enjoy any track you get to go on but 100% needs suspension and handling mods for track days

@@f20hulk67 Indeed, I have had a few quick cars in my time (I'm 52), and this actually turns in quite well, but ultimately the wobbly rear end (matches the wife tbh), does cause some brown-trouser moments. I know it needs a diff badly, which will make it a lot more predictable, then maybe if I can stretch to it, the Bilstein B16 kit will be a future purchase. I have read about polybushing and solid subframe mounts, but I think it would start to ruin it as a daily driver then. It's surprisingly capable as standard, and not anywhere near as bad, as the haters make them out to be. It's the perfect daily really, although the next stage of engine tuning starts to get pricey, upgraded fuel pump & injectors, and maybe some cooling improvements as it was heat soaked on the dyno when they were tweaking the map.

@@DjNikGnashers hahaha brillant !! 🤣 I had a manual 140 for a year before i built Hulk, it only had springs,downpipe and map with no issues on track was amazing car for money!. If more than anything look at Williams baffled Sump option for track use as my engine went bang from oil starvation 🤦‍♂️

@@DjNikGnashers you can fit underbody brace with no NVH penalty. In addition PU subframe insert will help: No addition vibration or noises, just a minimal more harshness over speed bumps etc, but really only minimal comfort penalty

@@vollcare4076 Yes I know matey. The rear underbody brace, I have heard from a few owners that I have asked after they fitted one, provides almost no benefit at all. One owner I asked said he felt a slight difference, but 3 others said they felt no difference with the brace, apart from slightly less squeaky door rubber noise over bumps. A front strut brace provided a more noticeable improvement. Poly subframe bushes only really work in conjunction with other suspension mods.

Thanks mate. I think just under a 1/4 tank. Yeah they are tucked away just cut all the front mesh out, rads have rock guards on them

@@f20hulk67 mine will surge with 1/2 a tank or less. Usually it goes into a limp mode and show a drivetrain fault. All f series are bad for this. Wonder if that could've caused the engine to go pop?

I've thankfully never had to deal with fuel surges mate. Also one big factor for me to take into consideration is that I pulled my engine out of a crash damaged vehicle so who's to say it didn't already have a issue that was a ticking time bomb for me🤷‍♂️

Sad but, even though, good driving mate! This is the rwd or the xdrive? I saw Mischa Charoudin testing both version and he says that power in the rwd it's too much, and instead he loves the grey xdrive one. But your car looks pretty stable, maybe the set up, I don't know.

Yeah I seen those videos as well 👌that RWD version didn't have a great set up for that power on the ring....also didn't have me behind the wheel 😉😆 I have the RWD version as that's the only available UK spec. Running slicks on the rear in this video though which makes the car grip like mad !

Engine mounts failed causing oil to starve at the front of the engine. Appreciate the comments 🙏❤

Always fill up to maximum oil level - that’s what people recommend: How was you oil level before the engine failure? Good luck with the new engine 🍀👍

Also where the engine blew up happened to be up hill and just after a very tight hair pin. Im also not happy with the angle with my engine so I do think it was oil starvation 🤦‍♂️

Only just descoverd this channel. How Much power are you running? Got to be in the 500’s+ to blow a rod? Are you running a baffled sump?

Map was 460+ bhp. Power was a factor for me but I have found oil issues which caused starvation at the very front of the engine causing the rod to blow out. Also no baffled sump which would have saved me probably so expensive mistake to not have one

@@f20hulk67 Nice. Yeah, with the levels of grip you’re running, a baffled sump is definitely a must. Car looks really well set up. Just think to yourself, if it was an N55, it would blown up on the first corner !! Looking forward to updates on the engine situation 😎

@@theparrot8414 with the right suspension and tyre set up etc, they feel amazing on track. Always be BMW like with tail happy but again with the right mods controlling it is very easy

Oil starvation was the killer. Engine positioning wasn't 100% causing oil to run back quicker than usual. baffled sump would have helped but still would have eventually happened. Building my new engine back up with a baffled sump and solid engine mounts 🤙
