**RACE REPORT**
This was my first outing in the Scottish Fiesta Racing XR2 at Knockhill Racing Circuit since October 2015, and my last outing of 2016..! So I was looking forward to getting stuck in to the home circuit again after a year of different venues.
QUALIFYING
Since we were only racing as a guest, we thought we would go out on old tyres from the previous round at Oulton Park. We didn't have a lap timer in the car as we had lent this out last meet so it was a bit of a stab in the dark as to where we would be... It was the first time going for it round Knockhill with the longer ratio gearbox and a rev counter that works too!
End of quali put us 4th with a time of 1:04.9, 0.6s off of pole..! Not bad at all.
Straight to Wheels Around to get some new rubber on the front as this usually takes at least 0.5s off the lap times!
RACE 1
Started race 1 from 4th, I got a blinder of a start which brought me right up into 3rd and going 3 wide down into Duffus!! Unfortunately there is a massive hole just before the kerb which I have clattered all too many times before, so I couldn't really attack it as I would have liked to... Slotted back into 5th and then started fighting with Barry Farquharson & Gavin Butterworth in 3/4th. THEN missed a gear... Not once but twice!! Raging. Lost a good chunk of time, but managed to claw my way back into contention of making the places back, but then for some reason the car started strangling itself at higher revs... Not terribly bad but enough that I was losing alot of time up the steep Knockhill main straight. After this my race was neutralised, watched some pretty good battles ahead, hit some sausage kerbs for fun. Yay.
