10/10, one of the greatest mpb records. One that I can safely recommend to almost anyone.
I went to two Jorge Ben concerts last year. The guy still puts on one hell of a show.
I explored Brazilian music 10 years ago. There are plenty of great albums to discover. RYM helped me out with that.
S/O to whoever recommended this album 👍. It's currently ranked high in my 1974 deep dive. In between Kiss's self-titled debut and an Aretha Franklin album. Joe & Jason already said everything I feel about this album. A very good album 👍
Why I’m here, his Afro Brazilian sound drawing from American Jazz Funk Rock, unique. Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzie Gillespie covered him. Of course Portuguese only enriches sound but “Brother” just as joyful uplifting
I love this album. 9/10 for me. But my favorite album by Jorge Ben is África Brasil (1976). It's funkier, more electric, the bass more prominent, mind- blowing polirythms, awesome female backing vocals and two of his biggest hits: Ponta de Lança Africano and Taj Mahal. Simply fantastic! 9.6/10.

@@alexfowler1490 u know what u r talking about. Great tune
Jason spot on that you could both play it in the background for good vibes but also listen attentively and enjoy, those are the best kind of albums
Brazil mentioned Fuckn great album
Thanks for that, I shall investigate asap, good work lads.
It's in my top ten favourite albums of all time and i also ranked it as a top 5 album of the 70s (my and everybody else's favourite decade); can't remember the exact places, but I did a top 50 best albums of the 70s series a few months ago. Jorge Ben has done several outstanding albums, especially in the first half of the 70s; "Forca Bruta" is another 10/10 classic IMO. Great Video! If you want to do more forgotten/overlooked masterpieces; check out Joan Armatrading, especially her debut album "Whatever's For Us"...
Well, damn, that was inspirational! I’ll have to check it out.
Enjoyed this one a lot as well. I really loved the guitar work/sound and arrangements throughout the album. There is a lovely sound to this album that draws you in. I also think he has a really lovely and calming vocal delivery. I admit i didn't look up a lyrical translation, but lyrics aren't always a primary concern for me if I am getting what I need to from the music itself, which I feel I was here. All the same, I probably should look it up because I am curious. I noted several songs here as favourites and have added this album to my summer album rotation, which is something I've been thinking about a lot lately with the summer coming. A really strong 4 stars for me.

Wonderful,so sensual and joyous.I’ve always LOVED his guitar playing.Didn’t know this album,it’s got a gorgeous sound.!”Errare” seems to be a beautifully topsy-turvy take on dub reggae with( as you noted) Norman Whitfield-style strings, just great.
Milton Nascimento's Clube Da Esquina is another highly regarded classic from 1972. Also, Caetano Veloso's Transa is from 1972.

I have this album but have never listened to it so will give it a spin - THnaks Joe
Also Jason, a little fun fact for you learning Portuguese: European Portuguese is very different than Brazilian Portuguese. While the Brazilian kind sounds closer to Spanish in many ways, the kind from Portugal sound almost like Russian even tho they have no connection, just because of some similar elements in their phonology. A lot of vowels in European Portuguese are just aggressively reduced in a lot of cases, and it’s more stress timed and contains a lot of false consonant clusters compared to other romance languages 😊
One of my favorites of the time! 😊
You guys made my day ❤
