This scares the shit out of me. I’m set to retire September 14th. However, since I have only 13 years active (out of 20 years total years of service…I’m Guard), I don’t get Tricare for Life. I was counting on this bill to get signed into law-for both treatment and disability rating. I’m currently being assessed and treated for neurological issues that are believed to be the result of prolonged and serious exposure to burn pits, but it looks like I may end up without a means of obtaining recompense for my ailments. I have other matters that will be rated, but my neurological and cognitive issues scare me the most. I’m only 40-years of age, but it’s like I’m suffering from Alzheimer’s. This all pisses me off, but I’m thankful that Jon Stewart is leading the way in fighting for those of us who were used as disposable pawns for the military industrial complex. And before anyone gives me crap for signing up, I was homeless and hungry. The military gave me a way out of poverty, and I’ll always be thankful for that. But I’m calling it like it is.

The nastiness that was being spewed by the RepubliCon Sheeple.. Insulting people who were against the war(s). The Rah,Rah, USA chants.. Now, those very same RepubliCons don't believe they should take care of those very same Men and Women who fought for them and this country.. There is a Documentary on Pat Tillman who went to fight in Afghanistan and died there.. I think it is on Netflix, it's and interesting documentary of behind the scenes of what was going on during that war.. Don't let your children and grandchildren forget what happened.. I’m a vet OEF/OIF, with PH and CAB. Want to thank me for my service? Here’s how: read this bill as those who voted yes in June then flipped no in July using their amended text. Understand the provisions and what it would have done for veterans from 1935 to today. Veterans of Ft McClellan, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Guam, American Samoa, Vietnam, Enewetak Atoll, Johnston Island, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Kuwait, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, and many other places we’ve dumped our troops for one reason or another. Understand the oversight that was written into the $400 billion “pork fund” talking point and what controls were also written into the text. Then go inform your friends, neighbors, and make sure the human waste from all sides who voted no are kicked to the curb on their next run for office. This was a retaliatory filibuster, nothing more. Even if it passes in the next go, they risked veteran lives to oWn tHe DeMs because of a tantrum. There’s a special place in what ever hell they believe in waiting.

Truth. Most people like to think that we are a democracy, but we are a constitutional republic, founded by the wealthy, many of whom absolutely believed slavery was fine and none of which were able to ensure civil rights were included in the constitution. They were explicitly delayed and only allowed to be added after the fact. Our Christianity is a demented spawn of the Roman empire who crucified Jesus, then hijacked his story. Our Land was violently stolen from indigenous people and their food sources were intentionally wiped out. People love this country because of how comfortable they can be here when they happen to not be a target. Thanks to the internet and media, this country is finally gaining some self-awareness and it's not going well because so many won't acknowledge the truth.

The right hates jon because Tucker Carlson trained them to hate him. The right just does whatever Tucker Carlson tells them to do, and since Jon got his show canceled and embarrassed him on TV, he's spent a decade trying to train the right to hate Jon Stewart. They are truly incapable of thinking for themselves, it's wild how much control a dopey, bow tie wearing trust fund baby that works for a foreign billionaire has over that political party.

Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren't they? They're all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're f**ked Conservatives don't give a sh*t about you until you reach "military age". Then they think you are just fine. Just what they've been looking for. Conservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers. George Carlin

This is one of the most powerful speeches I've heard in I don't know how long. It's raw, it's honest, it's completely unscripted and it is a (well-deserved) absolutely SCATHING indictment of the GOP. "You don't support our troops - you support the war machine." And "These guys haven't met a war they won't sign up for, or a veteran they won't screw over." I wish this was getting even more coverage because the people that often blindly vote for the GOP because of their "support for the troops" really need to understand how deeply that statement mis-characterizes what GOP elected officials actually care about. Jon Stewart rightly calls bullshit on ALL OF THIS. I hope this speech goes viral and people can really take stock of what it means to vote for the Republican party in it's current form. It is not a vote for patriotism or values. It is a vote for cruelty and power grabs and financial gluttony at the expense of 99% of Americans.

Both these methods of spending have always been around. Making it mandatory just means they aren't voting to approve the budget for it every year or debating how much money should go to it. About two thirds of all spending is mandatory, so if anything they are just making sure the spending is done in the way most of the other spending is. This doesn't open up a void to be filled with unrelated spending. I'm pretty sure whatever they decide their new budget for the year is does that.

I have two uncle's that we're both drafted and served in the Vietnam war. One passed away a few years ago from complications of agent orange. That uncle made a career serving in the military. The other uncle who was a war photographer, is still alive but worked himself continuously after serving to cope with severe post traumatic stress disorder/syndrome. He finally got help 7 years ago to deal with. Neither of my uncles should've had to wait 40 years to receive help. The military has enough money to build state-of-the-art hospitals and rehabilitation centers to help wounded veterans recover. My late father served as well but that was before the draft. He taught me a lot about the military, the good and bad. The bad is all the things Jon is discussing in this video. I feel shame as an American.

Thanks for sharing. Your uncles unfortunately share common trajectories of veteran's who are not properly cared for. I don't care for the military machine but to be openly discarded by the system they enlisted in is utterly pathetic.

Why would the military fund state of the art hospitals when they can commission Lockheed Martin to build state of the art WMDs to murder people overseas?

Thank you, Mr. Stewart, for your legend of fighting for and supporting our Veterans. My father fought at Anzio, his brother at Guadalcanal, and my mother worked in an ammunition factory. They're all gone now, but their legend is mine.

The 'support the war machine but not veterans' is absolutely accurate. It is one of the things I argue with most vets on. Especially the gop vets (though many dems are no different).

The PACT Act as written includes a budget gimmick that would allow $400 billion of current law spending to be moved from the discretionary to the mandatory spending category. This provision is completely unnecessary to achieve the PACT Act's stated goal of expanding health care and other benefits for veteran
