He did betray Rob and killed Rickard Karstark, but at the very least he spared Bran and Rickon Stark. Theon is an asshole but I still think he’s been through way more than any human being can endure both mentally and psychologically and I think he’s realized his awful ways and is working to redeem himself.

Illiteracy is nothing to do with spoken words. Speech is naturally learned from infancy, not from education. Illiteracy is the inability to read and write. You could have picked up an extensive vocabulary by ear but not be able to recognise the words that you know when they’re written down, simply because you’re too unfamiliar with the alphabet.

Something I love about the show over the books is how Theon is terrified of Jon Snow. That's why he never even considers going to the Wall. He's too scared Jon will murder him. It just makes so much sense, really. They both grew up with the Starks and Theon betrayed them while Jon stayed loyal to the very end.

@@supremedreams6789 Probably but his fear of Jon is not really there in the books for some reason. In book two he considers going to the Wall and really likes the idea but in the show he's terrified because he thinks Jon will try to kill him. Jon is also really cold in the books, often forgiving old enemies to keep them in check or manipulate them so I don't think he'd just hate Theon but we'd have to see.

Carlos Theon in the books wasn’t ever particularly scared of Jon though. If anything, Theon was probably insecure of the affection Robb might’ve showed more to Jon rather than himself because at the time, they were both competing for Robb’s affection. But despite a little jealousy, Theon was never scared of Jon and always use to make fun of him for being a bastard. Even after taking Winter fell he doesn’t fear him, why would he?

@@supremedreams6789 yeah you're right. maybe it's because Theon from the books is older than the show version. In the adaptation, he and Jon are the same age but in the books Theon is a bit older so it doesn't really add up that he'd be afraid of a kid.

Carlos Yeah. You also have to remember that in the books, Theon was no slouch in combat. He was an expert marksman that was shooting down ravens in mid-air and if I’m not mistaken, it was implied he was the better swordfighter than both Robb and Jon at the beginning of the story. In the show Theon was always pathetic even before he became reek for some reason.

Yeah it does definitely come across that way but I genuinely think where Theon is on his arc (or where he's supposed to be anyway) is the Theon who doesn't fear death or anything else anymore, as in if Jon wanted to kill him there, so be it. But I think he had just started opening his mouth saying "Sansa... I was with her but I had to split ways with her. Is she alright? Have you seen her? Have you gone back to Winterfell yet?" etc etc etc. I don't think Theon is so interested in saving his own skin anymore as much as he's interested in reaching some sort of atonement for all the truly treacherous, evil things he DID do. He's far different now though than he's ever been before.

Ned and Robb would both have executed Theon for killing the two farm boys. Ned in particular felt that as lord he had a paternal responsibility for all northerners. Jon might have felt compelled to do the same if this meeting had taken place in Winterfell during peacetime.

Theon was his father's hostage not his adopted brother, not even his friend or acquaintance (they avoided each other and don't like each other whatsoever). Also depending on what right your going by, because it's definitely not because he 'betrayed the Starks' or sone bullshit like that. Jon never liked Theon and knew that no one actually saw him as a Stark, so for him to feel that Theon should have picked his captors over his family and birthright is clearly some shitty writing whether you like it or not. Jon in this scene is acting just like Theon at Winterfell, like he Theon, he also had a choice, and just like Theon he chose to be self indulgent and cruel.

Theon's story plot and character development was my favourite tbh..first we love him for being a loyal to starks, then we suddenly start to hate him for betraying, but he faces his consequences, got tortured in unimaginable way so we felt bad for him, and won our heart again when he helped rescuing Sansa. Finally he reunited with the starks and died protecting the kid he once tried to kill.

People joke about Dany's titles, but all the rulers get a parade of titles when they're announced, not just Dany. She has a few more than most because she's actually earned them over the course of the story in addition to the ones she inherited. Book Jon is a bit more erudite than Show Jon, so I'm not sure how likely it is he'd skip the formalities. But he has more of a reason to get straight down to business than Dany.

The pride in what she says as she says it, “she is a queen we chose” that’s what makes her scene and “Dracarys” all the more powerful. There was SO MUCH trust and respect between Dany and Missandei that in her final hour Missandei knew Dany would avenge her to the fullest with just one word from her lips.

Theons body language is perfect for the trauma he's endured. Like a puppy who knows it's fucked up.

I like the tension built in this scene. This is the first time Theon’s seen Jon in awhile and Theon’s understandably scared and Jon still has a bit of hate for what he did especially since with what happened to Robb.

In the books it was clear what their relationships and dynamics were like, Robb was the only one of out of all the stark children who had a good relationship with all his brothers and sisters, he was loved by all his siblings including Theon and was the only stark who truly treated Theon like family and like a brother. Theon hated Jon and Jon disliked Theon, it wasnt the 3 amigos. Theon and Jon would often fight in a sense for Robb's affection. Theon despised Jon because Jon was actually Robb's REAL blood brother and he would often make fun of Jon for being a bastard because of it. Theon even had a dream that he married Sansa just so that he would be Robb's brother by marriage.

Kit is a good actor you can see the struggle of thought in what to do with Theon

It's heavily implied that her grayskin isn't healed just dormant, and a jester that they have, who is actually prophetic has made jokes that are basically talking about a outbreak damaging Stannis army. Stannis doesn't really even want to be king, he feels that it's his duty, and he does not bend. He will do literally anything for it

I hate how people are so quick to judge Theon. I know what he did was very wrong but he has reasons. His own father didn't accept him, he was forced to make a choice between his blood (Greyjoys) and family (Starks). And not to forget, he was not more than 18 years of age. He made a mistake and he paid a huge price for it!

You can't expect Jon to know how much Theon has paid though. He might know Theon was held captive sure, but not what happened during that time. I'm eager for their reunion in the books. In the books even when Reek starts identifying himself as Theon again and openly defying Ramsay, he's still outwardly mentally fucked. Asha (Yara in the show) was talking to him for like half a minute and she seems to be trying to hold off the urge to cry. And in the books Theon has lost fingers and toes which Jon would likely notice given the way he walks and looking at his hands. It will be obvious immediately to Jon in the books that Theon has suffered, but here's what I wonder. Will resurrected Jon care? Because Berick Dondarrion and Lady Stoneheart both show that when the Lord of Light resurrects someone, not all of them comes back. I wonder how compassionate resurrected Jon will even be capable of being.

Yeah he made the wrong choice but I can sympathize with his reasons. Besides, Robb screwed himself when he broke his promise to Walder Frey.

This scene is about Jon and Theon but the real hero here is Ser Davos remembering the words of Stannis: Fewer.

Gotta admire that steadycam as they descend the stairs. Nice, smooth motion.

Just try and imagine what's going through Theon's head when he sees Jon here. GRRM makes it point to tell us how Jon looks more like a Stark than any of Catelyn's children (except Arya), and now that he's King in the North...and wearing that Stark breastplate...jeez, he probably feels like he's staring into the eyes of Ned Stark's ghost. He doesn't handle it too bad though...

The fact that he KNEW it was a greyjoy ship from so far away

Night King hugged him.... with his own spear... in the gut! 'Beautiful and honorable death'.... Poor sod actually died for nothing but... ye. They also burned his body, which actually was unnecessairy with the Night King dead... They could have honored Theon with a place in the Crypts, literally engraving Theon's honor in stone. idk.. settle a permanent relation with the Ironborn like that? ... i guess DND 'kinda forgot that...'

I liked the little callback to Stannis, when Davos corrects Jon by saying "fewer", like how Stannis corrected him with "fewer" when Davos said he had "four less fingernails to clean".

You can actually see Jon's entire body below the neck trying to kill Theon, and his head only barely winning the struggle.

Rare good moment from this season.

I’ve seen this scene several times and I just now realized that Davos corrected Jon regarding less vs. fewer.😅

That little moment between Jon, Davos, and Missendi hit me different just now. How both sides "voted" for their new King/Queen despite them for two different reasons. One was a ruler of former slaves, the other is a person that wants a world to survive. One portrays themselves as a kind figure but has three terrifying beasts behind her, and the other is a colder individual with a kind heart.

Damn, Davos' dialogue is really great. A lot can be easily missed though.

Jon and Davos having this talk alone with Missandei is an important scene... Here they learn more about Dany and what bands she has with her followers. She is their queen by their choice, not by some old legend from abroads. The funny is; Jons rule is essentially similiar... He is chosen time after time...

Theon deserved a solid punch.

that "fewer-scene" showed me again why i can only watch this series with the original audio. from what i've seen the german version translates it in a way that it seems like Davos is correcting Jon that there are indeed fewer fighters (than 10000) in the north, but actually he references Stannis and just corrects his way of choose the right words (less -> fewer)... i really wish the translators would know the series before they just start doing their work...
