True. Tyrion had no business making war plans for Daenerys. If Barristan and Jorah where at her side. Cersei would have been screwed, from the get go. And yes. Daenerys trusting a member of the house that she was trying to overthrow, was stupid. And she also gave him not a small position, but the most important position possible. WITHOUT A DAM REASON may I add. But if we where to be honest here. If this was Tyrion before season 5. Then based on how smart he played at the battle of the black water . Yeeea. Daenerys would have conquered westeros in a blink of an eye. Her army was gigantic. 100k Dothraki. 8k unsullied. 3 dragons. The reach. Dorn. Some support from the iron islands. Her forces literally where around 200k, maybe more. And over half, where mounted cavalry. But most importantly. The 3 freakin Dragons. Season 8 was the worst, but season 7 is pretty close as well.

@@FusionTM_REDRUM I'm not as bothered by the Season 8 writing as many seem to be (though it could have been better). I look at the situation as Tyrion screwing up his strategy for Dany due to wanting to spare his siblings. Season 2 Tyrion was a great Hand because he was defending Lannisters. The right thing for Dany to have done upon arriving in Westeros would have been to have sent riders to her allies instructing most of them to advance on King's Landing while some march to Storm's End to install Gendry. Then when Cersei and Euron are in custody or dead, send a force west through the Iron Islands to install Yara.

If she'd have just listened to Olena right then, she could have sacked King's Landing with just the dragons, and not even needing the Dornish, or the Tyrells or the Fleet, or having busted Casterly Rock. She could have then as Queen used the support of Tyrion, Olenna, Ellaria, Yara and Sansa/Jon Snow to take the Throne, and marched the Armies of Unsullied, Dothraki, Dorne, Riverlands, Vale, Iron Islands, Westerlands, North, The Reach and the Stormlands up to meet the White Walker threat, focusing all of Westeros on a single objective working in unison and forming a bond of union. Instead she listened to Tyrion, lost Olena and the Reach army, wasted the unsullied on casterly rock, lost Yara's fleet, lost Ellaria and Dorne, gave Cersi and Euron time to improve and mass produce Scorpions, just in time to listen to Jon and march north and back again losing 90% of her forces, her advisors, and two dragons. Yet ultimately still sack King's Landing in about 20-minutes.

Both Viserion and Rhaegal would of been still alive and the battle with the White Walkers would of not take place at Winterfell but at the Wall, because the Night King would of not had Viserion if Dany first attacked Kings Landing.

@Loki Jaxson She only burned the Greyjoy fleet, walls with mounted ballistas and enemies at the gate. Bells rang and city surrendered. It took 20 minutes. Cersei would be hunted down and executed by victorious forces. It was so simple to do, instead they wasted two seasons on Cersei, so her actress could collect free money by staring from tower.

Tyrion is the worst Hand of the Queen ever. All his plans have flopped

What do all these woman (aside from Yara) have in common? They are all GUILTY of murder. Olenna from killing Joffrey and framing Tyrion, Ellaria from killing an innocent child, and Daenerys from killing innocent civilians. Karma came for them.

Killing Joffrey helped the realm immensely and cersei ruined it by raising the power of the sparrows, arresting the tyrell children, and blowing up the crept killing the queen and making the king commit suicide.

Man, could you imagine? If Dany had just trusted her own instincts and attacked King's Landing before she had any reason to snap, she would have probably been the only ruler in history to have support not just from Westeros, but from Essos as well. Her influence would have spanned continents

Margaery isn’t dead yet in the books. I do kind of doubt that GRRM told Benioff and Weiss how Margaery died. Seeing as how the actress learned of her death six months in advance, I think they only killed her off because they were running out of source material. So, there’s still a little bit of hope.

BLTKellys i think because, as many have pointed out, she thinks in extremes, unlike jon. Also that would be fine theoretically, we don't know how much and where the wildfire is. And using the dragons would count as using dothraki and/or unsullied on westerosi. On top of that, using dragons like that would be like trying to shoot an apple off someones head with a shotgun w/birdshot

Yup, this scene was when Dany had so much power and everything was in her gasp. It's sad how much she's lost since then because she continues to listen to an adviser who was more suited to politics than war. With another adviser (who's been useless for the most part) bringing up treason......The thing is Olenna wasn't the only one who told her that a leader must also be feared, Daario said it too.

One thing I love about game of thrones. In this scene we see essentially a Dragon Queen with an army of Eunuchs and her Eunuch advisor, a dwarf right-hand man, a female pirate captain, an old lady matriarch and the mother of sand-dwelling assassins discussing how they'll take over the kingdom. In any other series this would have been derided as cliche high-fantasy bullshit. Yet in this series it just feels so organic and natural. It just goes to show how good GRRM's worldbuilding was.

Everyone was just fucking done with games and wanted Daenerys to root out cersei from the red keep for once and all... They all were ready to fight besides her... Yes there would be casualties.. But that's war.. There will always be casualties... But Dany failed to see the bigger picture... Taking KL and the iron throne then and there was the best move in order to start setting things to rights and achieve her so-called goal of bringing peace and order to the realm

Tyrion goes "Love is the death of duty." When it comes to Cersei, it looks like he wants to compromise with her. Cersei is someone should never been trusted. What happened to King's Landing now? Dany no longer had any support than herself. Missandei has been beheaded, only Tyrion and Varys are left to be trusted. These two are sheeps from the beginning!

I loved Margaery Tyrell to bits. Her character was exactly how a queen should be. Smart and cunning . But at the same time showing love and compassion to people. Some may say that she was just fainting compassion, but that's just bullshit. She was genuinely horrified about Joffreys death, even though he was a cunt. She even told her grandmother how disturbed she was and how sorry she felt for Cersei. Who again. Is a piece of shit and has threatened her multiple times. I wish Margaery have met Daenerys. This would have been a great scene to watch.

I think that's going to turn out to be terrible advice. I feel like she's getting more and more power hungry to the point that she will be the new mad queen. She'll ignore her advisers and resort to spontaneous violence all the time. Soon nobody will want to follow her anymore.

It seems The Mountain also smashed Tyrion's brains when he killed Oberyrn. After that combat, Tyrion became from wisest to dumbest.

After watching all of game of thrones and years passing by what happened made no sense. Tyrion was trying to save his sister and brother- period. He didn’t care about Danny winning more than making sure his sister and brother were safe.

I demand more scenes with Daenerys and Olenna!

Unfortunately I have a gut feeling that the Queen of Thorns will die in ep3! I also heard it will be poison, had I been Daenerys I would have taken Yara's advice and just burned the Red Keep to the ground! I think Tyrion is protecting Jaime and a Hand is supposed to be loyal to his Queen! Let us see what the long game is about. I know that the Lannister/Tarly armies will be decimated and roasted by Drogon and Rhaegal after her Khallassar is done fighting them in an OPEN FIELD! Mind you this is an ambush!!

And if he is gonna be given the same position that he had in the show. Which I doubt it, cause Barristan is still alive and kicking. In the show, they got read of Barristan , to make room for Tyrion. But still. Daenerys trusting someone like that, even though he failed, is just 😒. Cause remember. His negotiation with the masters where stupid to begin with, not to mention he refused to listen to missandei and greyworm, who knew exactly what kind of people they where. So Danny comes to deal with this mess, and he just gets promoted to hand of the Queen fooooor?. When I watched that scene I was really puzzled, to say the least. In any case. Even if book Tyrion does end up being her hand. He most certainly gonna be an extremely cunning and smart hand. Not this brainless softy that was in the show.

Jon and Tyrion ruined Daenerys. If she had just attacked King’s Landing when wanted to in the first place, she would have had no reason to snap after they rung the bells because practically all the people she lost would still be alive right now. She could have fought the Night King’s army with all three of her dragons. Her relationship with those two screws over so many people in so many ways. Too much of the good has been cancelled out by too much of the bad for my taste. She was never the kind of person to go around killing children until she started listening to those two naively pacifistic idiots.

So Ellaria was right, there are no innocent Lannisters. Tyrion ruined Dany.

She should have ignored Tyrion and taken KL here... there would be less deaths than 8*5. She was good, she was strong and had support. Tyrion always tried to protect Cersei, always avoided attacking or killing her, even though she never retuned the favors. Other people paid the price of his unhealthy sibling love and Daenerys paid the price for making him her hand.

Oh, Dany! Just don't listen to Tyrion's plans anymore. Just simply be a dragon and stop being too patient with your enemies. 🔥

After losing two dragons, "half" of her army, few of her advisors, She finally decided to listen to Lady Olenna (y)

A council full of women and all of them gave the best advice. All of them were right, but the one that had to say yes and listening to them ended up death, she became ashes, like Olenna said.

The city would have surrendered to 1 dragon and the unsullied. Olenna, Yara and Ellaria were completely correct.

Yara, Ellaria and Olenna were 100% correct here. Lets face it, the reduced IQ version of Tyrion of Seasons 6-8 botched everything and lost their overwhelming military advantage. Hopefully GRRM will do his character more justice in the future books than D&D did in the show.

The women want to level Kings Landing but instead go with Tyrion's plan. This plan got them ambushed and killed. House Tyrell was completely destroyed. Tyrion seems to have been playing word games since the beginning. He's a good villain.

Plot armour is the only reason that Dany didn't attack King's Landing and become queen that very day. Olenna is right, Aegon didn't care about what everyone thought when he conquered the entire continent with dragons and a foreign army there is no reason for her not to do the same.

So she had the armies of the Reach, Dorne, 100 ships from the Iron Fleet, the Dothraki, the Unsullied, and 3 dragons and now she's left with less than 1/3rd of what she spent the first 6 seasons of this show acquiring. Someone, please fire the writers.

And I ask you not to judge a daughter by the sins of her father.” Within 1 episode season 8 Daenery’s turns “evil” “mad” whatever you want to call it. The Night King built up for 7 seasons to be this supernatural, mythical, unstoppable foe, who doesn’t negotiate, who doesn’t tire, but to die after 1 engagement! Season 8 rushed and ruined!! All because D & D wanted to quickly wrap it up, get paid a shed more doing Star Wars. HBO had the budget & the actors wanted another season. If only Season 8 would be about the War with the Night King, Army of the Dead and the White Walkers. Then Season 9 about the war with Cersi and Daenery’s turning to the dark side. More intelligent dialogue & screen time with the two Queens facing off one another would of been magnificent! This would have been the real pace, story telling & character arcs as all the epic seasons 1 to 7 have been. 😰

Honestly killing in one battle made a certain kind of sense. Repeat engagements would only give him the opportunity to raise more troops from the dead. But the Long Night should have been 2 episodes instead of one.

Either that or they could infiltrated the city using tyrions and varys intimate knowledge of how to get in or out sabatogeed from the inside. They also could blockaded and surround the city either while they did this or as stand alone plan and choked it into submission by starving it of resources. They also could have divided the main army under capable commader like "jora moront" and used it to terrorise the westerlands and keep the lannister forces off balance. Then Danerys could escorted (with the dragons) olenna and elaria south and pocketed there armys then brought them north to deal with whatever was left of kings landing. Point is.. D & D drop the ball on this and now there coming for Star Wars 😕

I agree, but what will probably turn her quickest is one of these bitches betraying her, because they're all capable of it. Ellaria especially, she is petty and impetuous. Yara's probably alright, if not just a tad too dismissive. Olenna straight up gave the worst advice. She's probably the most selfish and the most careless, not unlike Cersei in an ironic way.

she watched her lover and father of her children have his brains exploded in front of her eyes. it's likely she developed severe PTSD from that - and with that, came a warped sense of justice and revenge. I am not justifying her actions but I can understand from a point of view.

Olenna gave the best advice though; you don't blindly follow the advice of your counsel. It gets you killed like Tommen. You have to be able to take advice and stay two steps ahead yourself, so you know which way to go.

This scene was epic, no fighting no nudity and no gore, just Dany holding council and telling everyone how shits going to go down.

She should have listened to her female advisors. If she had, she would have never been bullied and provoked to go to extremes last episode.

Tyrion hasn't had a good plan since that wildfire trick. All his advice and plans were terrible and cost her everything. If she had attacked with three dragons when she and the other women wanted to she'd be Queen and could defend the kingdom from the Night King with Three dragons and a massive army because Cersei never would have developed a stronger scorpion. Now the writers are trying to make it seem like she's wrong for wanting to take the original plan with just Drogon.

'Tyrion hasn't had a good plan since that wildfire trick.' I'd say he's lost his original character since he killed his father. I think bringing him back into play after that act was a mistake. Killing his father should've changed him for good, it's not something you'd overcome just like he did with a few bottles of wine. It was the peak of his character arc. That should've left him with a broken and hardened soul. He should've disappeared at least for a while. He could've lived like a recluse in hiding with Varys's aid. I don't buy him joining Dany's advisory board. HIs whole presence in Essos just feels fake to me. Overcoming the murder he committed undermines the weight of the act.

@@godemperorofmankind3.091 Didn’t Stannis have a lot of the Reachmen too? I know for sure he has the Florent men (his wife’s people). I think the Florent’s are one of the biggest houses of the Reach (along with Tarlys, Redwynes, Hightowers and Tyrells of course).

They later would have all surcome to the white walkers. (Honestly I think the white walkers should have never been in the show. They made it wierd and it would have been way better without them)

won what? the honor of being a masscring killer no better than the Usurper she once hated? She was trying not to prove Cersei's point by acting like she was there to melt cities and burn down castles. it wouldnt have stopped there either. with the threat defeated no need for a wight hunt. so no need for Jon to bend the knee as she still has proven herself no better in jon's eyes. which means Daenerys has to attack and burn down Winterfell, turning half the country against her.

Who's here after watching S08E05? Olenna Tyrell was right. Daenerys is a DRAGON, BURN THEM ALL!

It's so absurd how they act like the choice is between using dragons to wipe out all of King's Landing, or not using dragons at all. It's like they don't even consider simply using the dragons for a limited strike to take out the military forces of King's Landing and leaving the civilians alone, which is funny seeing how that's exactly what does happen, right up to the point when Dany goes nuts and decides to kill everyone for no reason.

Daenerys should have listened to Lady Olenna. She was right.

Olenna has in the long opinion emerged as the best character from that show. Every scene she appears in becomes heavy with gravitas. Wonderful performance.

then daenerys is an idiot. when an army fails, the fault lies with its commander. if there was something wrong iwth his plans, she could have overruled him. plus Tyrion didn't magically know euron could telepor, or that jaime could teleport, or the Tyrells would inexplicably lose the will to fight and die like bitches. plot armor beat daenerys allies, not bad strategy.

Tyrion might be a Lannister’s spy place beside dany... - he prevent dany to attack king’s landing with dragons and her main armies cause he knew the Lannister will fall -he send Tyrell and Greyjoy to King’s Landing but end up being ambushed. -he send the Unsullied to chastely rock but end up to be an empty castle -he sent Jon Snow beyond the wall wanted to get him kill and he try to stop dany to go help. I like him but I’m smell fishy about this...

how did Tyrion know Cersei asked Euron to prove himself? how did Tyrion know Euron would attack at that moment at that location? how did Tyrion know Euron had indeed gotten a thousand ships? how did Tyrion know the Rock is worthless, and why isnt it still a good plan to occupy it? how did Tyrion know Jon would talk Daenerys out of destroying the Red Keep? how did Tyrion know Jon's party would find anything, that Gendry would make it back and that the raven would reach Dragonstone in time? yeah sure Jon might die but he might not.

What is strange is how did someone as well informed as Verys not know that Casterly Rock is no longer a valuable asset. Considering how much money was going from the Tyrells to the throne how did Lady Olenna not value their own treasure. Strange.

All Tyrion was trying to do here is protecting his sister by slowing down Daenerys. Olenna and the others were correct, she had to attack King's Landing with all her forces.

One of my all-time favorite moments of GOTand love Lady Olena!

Yep. There was clearly no point attacking casterly rock unless it was to stop reinforcements getting to kings landing but it still wouldn't have made any difference. Someone should have argued against this.

I just didn't understand how she went from this to that! Would have loved this Dany take the throne

"I'm not here to be queen of the ashes" This single line is the cherry on top of Daenerys' character arc. She was never someone who would burn down a city of innocents despite the circumstances (as we saw in S8). Her "breaking the wheel" wasn't just about ending the vicious cycle of slavery and injustice, but also breaking the cycle of her own family history, choosing compassion, loyalty, trust, and honor. People who proudly exclaim that her arc ended justifiably must have been watching the show as closely as D&D, or only ever cared for the Stark plot. Daenerys wants to rule, yes, and she may be brutal to her enemies along the way. But that's just it: her enemies. Not the innocents she champions. It's also baffling how we will belittle Dany's arc in light of her being brutal to some, but will ignore the brutality characters such as Jon, Arya, Sansa, and others have shown. She deserved to win the Game of Thrones, one way or another.

Correct, and even if she didn't win she didn't earn season 8 which was still a massive attempt at character assassination.

Had Dany heeded Olenna's advice and been a dragon, she would have scorched King's Landing and won the war for the Seven Kingdoms... Ignore Tyrion. Burn the Red Keep. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Dany should have followed this plan instead of deviating to help the north.. Tyrions advice to dany was such a let down... Tyrion is just wasted.. 🤬

@@godemperorofmankind3.091 Actually, she had more than enough time to do both. Taking over King's Landing then helping the North. Had she not went north earlier Viserion wouldn't have died. The Night King would have had no choice but to wait for them to come to him. Because in order to destroy the Wall he needed either the Horn of Winter( which is in Samwell Tarly's care) or a dragon.

I love how Tyrions strategy was essentially "Army 1 attacks Castle 1 and Army 2 attacks Castle 2" and everyone looked around like "Whoa, thats genius" while intense music played
