"JOLENE" on Acoustic Guitar | Country Fingerpicking Dolly Parton Cover

I've always loved the fingerpicking in Dolly Parton's song "Jolene," and the melody, feel, and performance on her original recording are so classic and haunting. It's definitely one of my favorite country songs. The White Stripes also recorded a killer version of it. My fingerpicking arrangement is an homage to both the fingersyle work that Chip Young put down on Dolly's original recording, and also to the beautiful melody that Dolly wrote.

Really enjoying your playing. There us nothing like a single guitar being played on the porch or in the kitchen while I'm making something to eat. The strings dancing the notes threw the air, the words of the song, if any, are being born with every note as it's being released into the air, as it is being simply played. It makes my heart, feet and soul dance even if I am sitting still, seated or laying down. The music releases the mind and soul like nothing else. It can take you from the pews to the pubs, joy and sorrow, love and loss, weddings to funerals. Music is always there. My favorite is a solo guitar being played in my kitchen or on my porch, with no particular song, just working out a new sound. Something visceral about that combination that brings great peace of mind. Thankyou. I'm absolutely loving your channel. After listening for a few seconds of the Dobro blues song. It's one of my favorite instruments and what can I say the blues is in my blood. Thankyou again, keep on playing. ✌❤🎸🎶🙏 KEH 🌹🇨🇦

You are just a guitar playin' BEAST! Good lord, Man! Whoooooo weeeee! Glad you popped up on my feed! Wowwww! I've been watching your videos NON STOP!
That Furch has a beautiful deep voice, well played excellent thanks Justin.
Every time I watch Mr. Johnson play I think about moving to the USA (Texas), because the combination of playing great tunes and the landscape give me a sense (feeling) of a place I would like to live. Not that I don't like my country (because I love it), but I have the feeling that live here picked up speed and in Mr. Johnson's songs I see a better pace, one that leaves place for the simple things in life, that make life more enjoyable..... And I love the sound of this guitar!!!
The decor and ambience for each song is always perfect . . . .
Im crying!!!! Omg this is beautiful!!! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!
i love his vibe so much.
Beautiful! I'm 2 weeks home from 13 days in hospital for Covid-19. Still trying to recover, this is such a beautiful gift Justin, thank you.
When I get into a writing mood for a particular muse, I keep coming back here to just slap loop and listen to this for hours. This is such a beautiful rendition of the song, too.
I gotta admit, Justin really brings this song to life... and this was always a powerful song
Magnificient. I just started teaching myself on the acoustic guitar. I stumbled across your beginners video and now I am obsessed with watching all your videos over and over again. Your talent is amazing to behold. I feel lucky. Thank you.
Just beautiful, the scenery, your persona, hair, clothes, and the way the videos are done, talent and soul go together to make a one of kind --- absolutely can't think of a way to describe, beyond words!!!!
You managed to capture all of the sweetness and the pain of the song with just one guitar.
repeat...repeat.. can't get enough. Love this! Thank You Justin!

Been watching Justin's videos a couple of years now n I'm here to tell ya this ol boy can pick anything in any style you can name, you put strings(or just 1 string) on a dead cat and he'll get ya a tune out of it!! love the videos and please keep'em coming!! Ain't sure if it'd be doable but man I'd give my left... well I'd give a bunch to hear a collaboration of Justin Johnson, Billy Strings and Marcus King!! Now that'd be one helluva concert!!
Once you’ve listened to it a couple of times an enjoyed it, mess with your playback speed, slowing it down makes it a whole new tune and you hear the accuracy of Justin’s picking 😀

Here is what worked for me: I practiced the way too difficult song for about an hour a couple of days, managed some sections and didn’t manage the rest no matter how hard I tried. I let it sit then for a couple of weeks, took it up again - and surprisingly nailed it! It was as if the learning continued even if I didn’t continue practicing.
