I have shared this with many friends who call me asking how to join a Zoom meeting. I found the Zoom tutorials to go too quickly. I like how slowly and thoroughly you explain everything for beginners and those not so up-to-speed on technology. You couldn't have done it any better.

Nice work! Thank-you so much! Question, if possible. On an iMac, and had to see a presentation on zoom. Was all last minute and I joined late. But all I could get was video and no audio. The OS and computer is all up-to-date. The link - invite sent to me was valid. Browser is Safari. What went wrong? The prompts - on zoom - kept saying that I had to ?? install Firefox or Chrome. Don't think so. What should I do for next time? Thank-you.

The mike at the bottom had a line thru it and no clickable or options. So I left the meet and went back to the emailed URL link to start over. Just to be sure I was starting over, I used a couple of extra caps on my name. So I could see for myself that I was signed in, again. Oh well. This was my first time trying a Zoom link. Am pretty sure will be using this a lot in the future. Next time, I will pay attention to the "join with computer audio" prompt. Say, really gotta tell you that you're video is soo awesome! Of course, there are several ways to join a meeting. This is just one of them. I've yet to see a video that, step by step, shows all the different ways to join a meeting AND with all the different types of devices. Now that could be boring. However, it would cover the bases, wouldn't it? In my world, there is only one best way to join a meeting. First, use a computer, not a mobile device. Second, download the Zoom client for the very best possible experience. This is done by clicking on the RESOURCE link in the top right corner of zoom.us. Third, when you click on a link to join a meeting, it contains both the meeting ID and password, so there's no need to type anything in. Fourth, when the browser opens after clicking on the link, click the ALLOW button. That will launch the Zoom client and immediately get you into the meeting - once the host admits you. But I've overlooked one important step. When you get an invitation to join a meeting, PUT IT IN YOUR CALENDAR so you can't forget where the link is, and what date and time the meeting is. Finally, UPDATE your Zoom app OFTEN. I've seen a new update come out almost every week. The app has a "Check for updates" link right inside the pop-up menu when you click on the icon in the far upper right of the Zoom window (before you join a meeting).

Of all those I found, I chose your video to send to my tech-challenged writing critique group. Is that Mozart playing in the background?

  • @CozyGrammar

Many thanks for your comment and for sharing our video with your writing critique group. Yes, that is indeed Mozart in the background, the Andante from his Sonata in G, K. 283, as performed by Marie Rackham, co-founder of Cozy Grammar. As it happens, we're preparing to release an album of her piano music next month, so your message encourages us with getting the last technical details in order. So a double thank you to you, and all good wishes for the holiday season!

The easiest way I've found to start a meeting you've set up is to do so from your Zoom profile, but you can also do so from a link or from the Zoom app. Here are some step-by-step instructions we've put together. This link will go straight to the instructions on how to start a meeting you've already set up: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dJl33LqohZO4ebA.html Hope that helps!

that would be a good idea to export your audio track, load it into a music editor software and Normalize or Increase the gain of your volume because it is hardly hearable...Then load it back onto your video...just an advice...

Thank you for the good and concise demonstration. I kindly suggest to take out the background music. It is a bit disturbing. Have you seen any teacher lecturing his / her class while having some kind of music on? Any possible distraction should be avoided. Thank you

@@CozyGrammar in premiere pro you search for "hard limiter" for the music part the settings should be "Maximum amplitude" at -12 db, for voice -6 or -3 db, and play with the "input boost" as needed. Hard limiter helps a lot for fast workflow :) also you can apply an EQ with 10 bands on the music and reduce the frequencies which intersect the voice to "make room for vocals". That was a helpful video, thx.

You're very welcome, Janette. Many thanks for your comment. I would suggest doing a search for "Zoom" in your own browser and seeing whether it comes up as zoom.us or zoom.uk. Whatever comes up locally for you should be fine. Good luck!
