Johnners' revenge on Aggers at Edgbaston 1993
Smarting from a first-rate set up the previous test, Brian Johnston exacts revenge on Aggers by setting up a spoof 'live' TV discussion with Fred Trueman and Jack Bannister - both having been instructed to be thoroughly uncooperative with the interviewer....

Have a look at DM Mordecai's KZread channel for new uploads of 1990s cricket highlights featuring Jack Bannister.
What I love about this is the whole time there’s this jolly brass band music playing in the back ground, it just makes this prank so enjoyable. Long live TMS and those wonderful contributors. These sounds of the summer will always bring joy whatever else is going on in the world.

Trueman would have made millions at poker on this performance. Hillarious and a treat for every cricket loving fan.
Fantastic! Oh I miss those days of gentle humour. TMS played a massive part in my life, growing up with Messrs Boyle, CMJ, and the incomparable Brian Johnston. Thank you for posting.
What do you think Fred? I dont know. Jack? I agree with Fred. God I love cricket and all its silliness! The daft Dixieland jazz int he background makes it even more surreal...
The Legend, the man, the Myth; Fred Trueman. I met Mr Trueman in the early eighties during a charity match, I asked for his autograph during the luncheon interval and he said 'not now lad'. True Yorkshireman.
What a classic! Tremendous self-control by Jack and Fred. Can watch this time and time again.
Fred and Jack deserved an acting award here for keeping straight faces, both much missed as well as the incomparable Brian Johnston who set the whole thing up.

Trueman and Bannister could have been a comedy double act. Whichever way, when you heard both of them commentate, it was just pure cricket. Both of them are sorely missed.
Every now and again, have to watch this again. To remind me of a Britain which once was. We were so lucky. Now we have to save something for our kids! Watched this, incidentally, when it first aired.

Sadly, it's an England that is fast disappearing in the rear view mirror. I miss those more gentle days of yore when we could laugh at ourselves. Now we're an Americanized, paranoid, PC mess.
brilliant. I have seen this so many times now but I still find it hilarious. the way the react when Aggers says that he slowed down is priceless. Fred blowing smoke in Aggers' face.....priceless. love it!
Brilliant! So well done by Fred and Jack. Aggers' valiant effort to hold an awkward situation together was epic.
This is brilliant. I love TMS. No matter how awful the world gets, all is ok if there is TMS.

Absolutely fabulous content. Fiery Fred at his very erudite best. Loved his Agnew family analogy 😂

This is pure comedy Gold, the Salmon got me.... Hillarious
I've seen this 5 times in the last 24 hours and it gets funnier every time. It was classic when Fred said that Aggers family were so poor that they couldn't afford television and the health inspector came to their house.

bkatbamna you can see Aggers thinking it’s a wind up after about 90 seconds, but isn’t sure and keeps on going. He had done very little TV at that point and this was a big chance for him
Fred with tie dangling everywhere and totally dishelleved hair and cigar :)
So bloody funny, Fred Truman, legend and greetings from Australia
The Music in the background is coincidentally perfect 🤣
You slowed down? I didn't know you'd speeded up. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, the whole thing's brilliant.
I know it's a spoof interview but I could listen to these two for a lot lot longer. RIP Fred and Jack :(

This is fantastic stuff. Oh for those days again.
Just wonderful. RIP Jack.
Fred Trueman, an Absolute LEGEND !!!
Absolutely brilliant how Jack and Fred kept a straight face I will never know.
Love this windup and Trueman and Bannister were brilliant the way they kept straight faces while they are winding up Agnew , and the master of the windup Johnners was inevitably behind it like a naughty mischievous schoolboy...... Great times
Still watching this in 2023 😂😂😂😂😂
Incomparable in its conception and execution, as evidenced by Aggers’ reaction at the end. Great telly.
The crunch comes at 5:45 with the look of disbelief on Aggers face from 5:57! He knows it's a definite wind up now but carries on regardless. Absolutely classic!

That was better than the 'leg over'... & that was funny. Well done all three & RIP Jack Bannister.
Brilliant, absolutely dead pan right to the end when Jack says this sort of interview should spark somebody off and Fred replies well it ought to do, it's genius comic timing. Couldn't have played it any better 😂

R.i.p Fred and Jack. Wonderful stuff. .
Absolutely brilliant had me in stitches
On top of everything else, the 'Morecambe and Wise' style cheek slaps at the end... outstanding. I now must have something in my eye...
Wonderful , absolutely priceless.
Hilarious. After reading about this set up in one of Aggers' books it is all the better for seeing it. Being born in South Yorks to see Fred in full flow is wonderful. He never received the credit he was due. Maybe a rough diamond but what a bowler. Well done Aggers for posting this.
Here after the boycott one , this was absolutely brilliant
Really miss Fiery Frederick and Jack. Awesome. Legends. Much much missed.
fred was hilarious about the salmon
Priceless!
This is fantastic. Fred lights up a cigar halfway through!
Absolute comedy gold that. What a performance 😂😂
The music in the background is perfect
Bless Aggers here. In the early 80's he bowled high 80's. Not rockets, but quick enough to be considered fast. Saw him in a Leicestershire V Worcestershire match where he did a Mark Wood and get a bouncer over the keepers head one bounce for 4. Keeper was stood a good pitch length back as well.
8:34-Fred's "That desperate" comment cracks me up everytime, superb !...as are JB's terse and trite interjections.

Good old days Trueman with his cigar and such cutting comments dearly missed
Love how that cigar smoke was wafting in Agger's face every so often......
"you came from a very poor family Jonathan, you never even had a TV set". Classic Fred!
Trueman on fine form there. And Bannister played the straight man perfectly. Morcambe and Wise eat your heart out!!! Hilarious...... "You slowed down...? Never knew you speeded up..."!!!!!!
SUPERB!!!
Brilliant! RIP Jack.
When the cigar smoke passes aggers face, perfect. So funny
You're a good sport posting this Aggers. Absolutely classic stuff.....Fred never loses it, not once. Jack manages to hold it in courtesy of a few pauses & looking at Fred to avoid giving the game away......but I fear you, were completely 'had' until the end!!!
