Kept my phone down and was speechless for a while when Amla said Asif. He was a bloody magician, such a shame how his career ended. We will never know what heights of success he could have reached, but within a few years of his time, he proved what a brilliant bowler he was.

Wasim and Waqar were smarter or luckier! They were never caught! That's the only difference! Even in that case, the players are mere pawns! They are being controlled by the betting industry! So end of the day, for a spectator, the thrill that we get is fully scripted! So just appreciate Asif for the fine talent or wizard he was, and for the fixer tag, apart from getting caught no big difference with others! It's just that he was not smart enough to do it without getting caught/ or to fix according to existing system or just unlucky😕😕

Ya i was also in the stadium the stadium 🏟️ was full of crowd .In the first inning in 1st over irfan pathan got hatrick and Pakistan team was in such a big trouble but kamran akmal played very well and made a century .

Gavaskar as a true legend and badass, he played in the 70s and 80s when fast bowlers went wild. He faced the Likes of Lillee, Thomson, Marshall, Holding, Roberts, Garner, Hadlee, Botham, Willis, Imran, Wasim etc and scored most runs and centuries in the world (at that time) in all kinds of conditions. Sometimes i feel like we indians have totally forgotten about how great gavaskar truly is.

Gavakar was a household name of every cricket loving person around the particularly in india, westindies and pakistan. There were even famous westindian calypsos on Gavasker particularly one by his westindian fan Lord Relator which reads as follows." No one can take Gavakar's wicket"

Amla was indeed a fantastic batter but to say he carried the SA batting on his shoulders for a decade is tad exaggerated given that both Kallis and de Villiers played a lot of cricket in the same SA team as Amla. All 3 are among the all time highest test run scorers and genuine legends of the game.

Mohd Asif may be biggest player to be missed on cricket in our generation. What a great control. Specially with red ball. i remember that karachi test. even that sydney test where he took i think 6 wickets and Aussies were bowled out around 130.

I don't know how Asif used to do it unlike other bowlers but with same wrist position he can move the ball both ways. And what makes him more dangerous is if there is no swing in the air he will get you with the seam movement.

He was just born with that bowling skills because you can't learn from a coach what Asif you use to do with the ball. I had seen him bowling in 2010 in England, it was just magic.

I still recall how Michael Holding explained these points, as well as his wrist position and striking the seam when the ball was wobbling. Holding claimed that only Muhammad Asif knew where the ball would swing, ignoring the batsman and the fact that the camera couldn't capture his bowling.

I'm.glad Andy Robert's got a mention. Lots of people focus in Holding, Garner and Marshall, but Roberts was great too

He had eye surgery for Pterygium, a nasty eye disease, in 1984, which affected his eyesight & reflexes. Lillee, the greatest fast bowler of All-time. @@graemealexander8804 still the first man to score 10,000 test runs and remember he was an opener unlike Chappell and Richards. Gavaskar didn't have the resources that the Aussies or West Indies had. India didn't even have a fast bowler in their domestic circuits and every other nation had fierce fast bowlers. Gavaskar had to invent new ways to practice and counter the amazingly cruel fast bowlers of the 70s and 80s. And remember the best team in the world in his time were the West Indies and he has 13 centuries against them. So you can keep up with your selective reporting because for me he's still the best test opener of all time.

Mohammad Asif was such an incredible talent.

And Sunil Gavaskar was playing them without a helmets That's balls of steel

Very difficult to replicate a foursome of Roberts, Garner ,Marshall and Holding. And batsmen had to face them without helmets

Muhammad Asif, Muhammad amir, Shane bond, Patrick patterson, Sylvester clarke etc are some of the examples of people who could have been remembered as fast bowling legends but due to different reasons all of these guys perished away

Magic is the word for asif. Always looked like he had that little extra. Same feeling i got from watching lara bat. Like their skills could sometimes go a level no one else had gone.

Asif record in his short career speaks volumes. He was the best bowler the world has seen, they way he made Sachin to Neel down at Bangalore in India was unbelievable and broke India batting(laxman, Dravid and gangully).

Woow.. Asif was such a class that even best of the game couldn’t read him at times. Asif is best example of self destruction. Discipline is the key when you are at highs or lows.

Hashim Amla is the technical mastero of modern era of cricket ranking Mohammed Asif as the toughest bowler.. Then it is some serious business... Asif always plays and bamboozed most technically sound batsmen of the opposition... Pure talent and an absolute genius with the ball❤️
