John is like Smaug, never wake up a dragon

Love the scene's intensity. The way they captured the sense of terror from John Wick's wrath is downright chilling, with Viggo singing the song and John killing his opponents swiftly from the shadows like a predator. That and Viggo's scene with Iosef gave us a taste of what John is really like.

I love the sound at 1:44, it reminds me of the stealth games where your detection meter goes back to zero and you're in the shadow again. Just another minor detail that makes this movie such a joy to watch

I love how professional John is. He doesn’t even let his magazines hit the floor because that’s just an indicator that he’s empty and can be attacked. Exactly like he does to the guy who reloads around the wall and let’s his mag hit the floor, john hears the mag drop and instantly pounces on the goon and kills him instantly.

Really happy he was able to find something like this. He deserved this and more.

He actually shot nine times before reloading, not an endless mag. Love the reality of guns and gunplay in this movie as keeanu did train quite a bit before this film.

Keanu is giving his all in these movies. He’s actually training with weapons and practicing martial arts for these films which is really respectable. And he gives shoutouts to his stuntmen which is honorable of him

It's called a tactical reload. You know you have something left in your magazine, but you're not sure how much, so you put in a fresh mag and remove all doubt. Save the old mag. It still has some in it and you may need those later.

I like how the fight choreography is just a little sloppy the way a real fight would be. Bourne movies and Star Wars and the like tend to favor really tight choreography to show how awesome and well-practiced the participants are at fighting but it can end up looking too rote and unrealistic. But here they worked in the kinds of quivers and imperfect moves that happen when people are legitimately fearing for their lives.

Yea and I always liked how even tho he still has his skill set they still had him get a little beat up from where he's been retired. Instead of being retired all that time and all of sudden still fight that many people without being touched

Dude, John wick is so skilled from even a realistic stand point. He reloads after every 8 or 9 shots. He keeps calm in the every shot and has sight alignment and picture alignment. There isn't really any recoil from the gun he uses so from that I would say it's like a 22 caliber, which would make a lot of sense. But they really did an excellent job on this.

Hollywood might have funded it, but I doubt they wrote it themselves I want to believe Reeves had a lot to do with the success of the scenes, and not just because he’s in the movie

2:30 I never noticed before, John's looking at the camera, because he's watching the guy's reflection in the window.

He does it in the scene right before that too...

You can run... You can hide... In the end, The Boogeyman will come from his swamps, and he will come to collect.

And you can tell by Viggo's smile that he knows they have no chance of killing John

When you take everything from a man, you leave him a man with truly nothing left to lose. That’s the most dangerous type of predator. Or, in John Wick’s case, an unstoppable force.

Moral to the story is “Never mess with a man who is still grieving for a lost loved one.”

1:29 That is a frightening shot, John steps out of the shadows like a nocturnal predator about to strike while Viggo is singing an eerie lullaby about the monster that will take the kids that don't behave referring in a way to his own son.

The last "Baba yaga" feels like Viggo is finally realizing he woke the sleeping devil and that there is no return from this point. Just accepting it

Not having to pull bullets out of your own drywall is a solid motivation to be fair

It's both silly and awesome how Viggo's song is mistranslated. "Bayu Bayushki Bayu" is a lullaby warning children to sleep tight and in the middle of the bed or a wolf will grab you and drag you away. The translation above is saying "fall asleep and behave or the Boogeyman will come for you" is essentially the same message and sends chills down your spine. God, I love this movie.

One thing is for certain: you do not want to come after John with a knife.

What I never understand is why the last 2 or 3 guys stick around to get killed. If I saw 1 man just run through a whole crew of killers like they were not even there the last thing on my mind would be "Yeah, I'm the 1 guy who's gonna kill this dude." Fuck that noise. I'd get the hell out. At the bare minimum you could play it off to the boss as you wanted to report back what happened. You still might get killed for failing, but might get killed, is still better than certain death.

i'd love to see a movie with john wick in his prime.

I honestly love how the music gets dramatic suddenly as john wick grabs his pistol, neat detail

the first bit seemed a little robotic and crooked, but then got better as it moved on. Keep in mind, John was retired for 5 years so this makes sense

I’m probably reading too far into it, but I realize now Baba Yaga is more than a spooky nickname. This whole story is like a grim dark fairy tale. Virgo made a deal with the devil to get his empire, but broke the one rule he was given. And so he loses his son and everything to the monster he thought he could manipulate.

They went hunting for the wolf in the wolfs lair. Someone didn't think that one through very well,lol.

Love how every one of his victims he pops off with just headshot after headshot, ultimate marksman.
