He's not underrated at all, he's been a Hollywood A-Lister for like 30 years. The big lebowski is one of the most famous cult movies ever made and he's a huge feature. And transformers are actually one of the biggest franchises ever.. So he's actually the opposite of underrated. ...

I get what you're saying. I absolutely loved the whole casting of The Batman because there were no faces I was tired of seeing. A lot of great actors who haven't got the recognition they deserve. Farrell, Pattinson and Dano are phenomenal actors and I loved to see them get into a huge franchise like this and really be the main stars. Nolan had actors like Oldman, Neeson, Freeman and Caine who are obviously incredible but they were already huge names at the time of The Dark Knight.

I get what you are saying. I realise he's a great actor but I didn't know he was that good because the first time I ever saw him was in an Adam Sandler film. I'm glad he got the Falcone role because he nailed it.

Turturro and Walken are the two actors that I’ve always believed instantly make any movie better when they’re a part of it. Having them together in Severance is a dream come true for me.

Alan Rickman and Willem Dafoe are two others. No movie was ever made worse by their presence.

I know it's not exactly a nuanced film but the man had me dying as the Butler in Mr.deeds, anything I've ever seen him in, he is phenomenal!

He played Ambrose Monk, Detective Adrián Monk's older brother. I thought his portrayal was incredibly sensitive and profound. If you weren't a Monk fan you may have missed it, but it's a real testament to the caliber of this actor.

I guess that I understand. It's a small role with limited emotional range. But, I could make a strong argument that Knish is the second most important character in the movie.

John Turturro’s portrayal of Herbert Stempel in “Quiz Show” is one of the best performances ever put on film. He was as equally brilliant as the attorney Jack Stone in the HBO series “The Night Of.” He always give you everything he’s got in every role.

He’s a staple in American movies. I’ll always love Transformers and Mr. Deeds because of him 👏🏽

Now that I’ve recently watched the godfather trilogy, he was lowkey giving Don Corleone vibes in The Batman.. I really like John Turturro man. To be honest, I hadn’t seen him in a movie since transformers back in ‘07, so I got a lot of nostalgia seeing him star alongside Pattinson, kravitz, etc.

I loved this man as Simons in the transformers series. "Tell Megatron: Let's Tango." I was so shocked and overjoyed when I saw him in the Batman as Carmine Falcone.

John is more than just an actor. He's an intellectual who knows how to read people and applies what he sees in that person in a character he creates that is believable. One of the finest artists ever in motion pictures.

He was great in Mr. Deeds as the Butler and also in You Don't Mess with The Zohan as The Phantom. I know John is know more for his serious roles but I will always remember him in these two movies.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? is one of the most enjoyable and re-watchable movies ever.

My father showed me all on John's films growing up and would always point out the subtleties of his performances and the masterful way he used his body and face to act alongside his voice

I have always had Mr Turturro at the top of my favorite actor list. I am a fairly old man but I am grateful that KZread has opened these possibilities; watching actors explain their thoughts. I am grateful to my grandsons for opening my eyes to this type of experience. I wish you all good health, happiness and all the very best to you and your families!

In my humble opinion John Turturro can do no wrong when it comes to acting. This guy can sculpt and mold a character into something you will enjoy watching. I love his acting and respect his acting.

He is recognizable, yes, by face, (and that amazing hair!) you can pick him out in a crowd, but that is not what the poster meant, imo. I'm guessing Turturro likes it that way, he leads a quiet life in Brooklyn, with his social worker wife--not looking for the glitz and glamour. I respect him for that.

Agree. I ran into him in L.A. five years ago, I recognized him instantly becuase I like movies, but I think nobody else did so I asked for a picture and he said yes! And when I told my family and friends I ran into John Turturro they said, who? It was until I showed them the picture, that they recognized him. However, they couldn't remember in what movie they'd seen him! They only knew who he was but couldn't name a movie!

Its not that he is unreconized. Its because he said no to big blockbuster. He wanted his career this way. This guy is a master of his craft.

First time I saw Turturro was in To Live and Die in L.A. His part was a lower level criminal, but his presence and uniqueness were very powerful. I knew right then that he was a Great actor. Has a lot of real range. Incredible actor. Very confident.

Him and the Coen brothers is the best actor/director(s) combo in modern day cinema. Great movies, great chemistry

Saw him twice in NY; once on the subway ("Loved you in Barton Fink!" Just before I got off, leaving him to say a baffled "Thanks." ). And once in Little Italy with my dad. Dad give him an Alaska hat with a moose on it. He enjoyed that.

Wow, you never realize just how talented he is or how his part carried a lot of weight in the many legendary films he was in until it's all brought together and highlighted. His range is just so vast.

Even though I thought it was brilliant, it's hard to recommend to people because it's so dark and emotionally disturbing. "Hey, wanna feel completely devestated? Watch The Night Of!"

He's such an underrated actor thats crazy

Julian in The Color of Money is another great character of Turturro's. He seems to have a way of makin' a common type persona very animated and interesting. When he shifts his eyes with mouth slightly open as a response to the zeal of an individual, classic! Turturro can simply gesture and relay over the emotion. Dude is awesome

Barton Fink is one of my all-time favourite films. It's so under seen.

Don't forget his small, but effective role in "Rounders" as well!

This was such a terrific and thoughtful look back by Turturro, who I think is still so often underrated. He's given so many incredible performances, but his subtle, wistful performance and character in THE NIGHT OF has stayed with me forever, and that final moments of that movie still make me tear up just thinking about them. Brilliant actor.

For those who don't know the writers of The Night Of, whom John mentions in this, one of them wrote for The Wire and The Color of Money, the other wrote for The Irishman, Schindler's List, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Gangs of NY, Searching for Bobby Fischer, and Awakenings (really underrated De Niro film I had to watch in a Psych class). So they were indeed as talented and great as John says they were, even just going by their credentials.

John is one of the most underrated and best actors of all time. I'm still waiting for season 2 of The Night Of

It's crazy how normal he is in contrast to the roles he plays. That's a good sign of an amazing actor.

I was first introduced to John T in a spoof of Groucho Marx's Night at the Opera ...Brain Donors...absolute slapstick gold!

“If you really love someone, you can’t keep saying to them hey I love you. It’s what you do.” I really like that. I hate it when I hear my buddy say I love you after every time him and his fiancé talk. Even when he’s just asking her what they should have for dinner it ends with him going “I love you”. It’s like he’s trying to get reassurance that she still loves him or something every hour.

I always enjoy his performance in Don’t mess with the Zohan . Him and Adam Sandler play off each other very well Mr.Deeds is another example.

Just saw 'The Batman'. Did NOT know you were going to be in it. Was such a great treat; I love when you fly in under the radar like that. Instantly doubles my subjective emotional investment when you do. What can I say? I'm a fan.

One of my favorite actors to see on the screen

Ever since seeing Miller's Crossing it was apparent to me that John Turturro is a giant of an actor. I wouldn't have been able to articulate it back then, but his performance was just brilliant.

John is the consummate character actor who inevitably injects his own unique persona into each performance.

This guy is a true gem of an actor, to this day Oh Brother is one of my all-time favorite movies! He is fantastic!

First saw him in Unstrung Heroes and got hooked ever since. He's one of the very best around. Love him to bits and always enjoy his acting and every movies I've seen him in. I hope he keeps acting. Thanks John!!!!

"Box of Moonlight" with him and Sam Rockwell was a beautiful movie.

He was the only guy I thought was miscast in The Batman before I saw the movie. I am so sorry now. He was one of the best parts of the movie, absolutely killed it.

Why are these 2 movies skipped over? Most of the movies listed suck. Knish was perfectly played. Anybody that met this person (character)in real life would know this

He's been one of my favorite actors for a long time. I love his raw italian energy

Great clip. Turturro is such a committed artist in everything he does. I only wish he'd talked about Severance!

I agree with him, I hate watching a movie and you can't hear what they are saying so you turn the tv up to 50 and then the next scene the music blows the speakers out.

He really got to show his range in The Batman! First time I had personally seen him in such an intense role and he was perfect!🙌🏼

I wish more people remembered quiz show. An Oscar nominated movie that got overshadowed in a really strong year for movies.

I looove "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" is just amazing!

His roll in Rounders was criminally underrated. I think it was his best roll.

I still remember realizing how exceptionally talented he is when I saw Barton Fink in the cinema when it came out. He just blew me away (and many others, winning best actor at Cannes that year). He's absolutely captivating - magnetic - and just draws you into the character he plays. One of the most underrated actors out there.

he was a great surprise in The Batman. played a chilling Falcone

One of his best performances is Roland T. Flakfizer in 'Brain Donors', a wonderful comedy that is criminally underrated.

Hahah hilarious movie 😂 The ballet dance scene cracks me up every time.

Brother were Art Thou one of my faves, loved The Big Lebowski, loved the Quiz Show, He was great in Transformers, have yet to see Barton Fink, The Night of and The Batman. John was definitely one of the reasons those movies are great.

Box Of Moonlight.

No one seems to remember his play in The Truce, as Holocaust survivor in the role of Primo Levi. He did terrifically well there. Surely one of the most underrated actors of our generations.

I don't think the word underrated means what you think it means

Remember first seeing John in Rounders and been a fan of everything he's done ever since, truly great actor.

I loves this guy!! Its so nice hearing, speak up humble 100%!! Just a wonderful Actor with honest commitment for his job!!

The control of the instrument displayed at 13:33 is gorgeous in context.

Turturro is amazing. I loved him as Knish in Rounders and in Fading Gigolo which I first saw only recently. His more nuanced roles like those are the ones I enjoy the most but he's a lot of fun when he cranks it up too. Always a plus to find in a cast.

The Night Of is so good, Ahmed and Turturro are phenomenal and the late great Michael K. Williams is amazing in it, what a gem of a mini series!

One of my all time favorites, nobody can do what he does like he does.
