John Deere 455 - Introduction & Snow Pushing
Finally! I managed to make a video a good 5 months after buying this tractor. After much deliberation and desire for something more than a carbureted 425, I found a lovely 2 owner machine with 720 hours on the meter. Here you see a cold start in -2 celcius weather and plowing heavy wet snow.

Wow 7300 canadian dollars! My 455 I got last week for 2400 US dollars was a true steal then...super nice condition with 1100 hours...hard to come by these days. Long live these beasts!
Congrats on your new 455 Rory! That's a beautiful machine. Can't wait to see more videos of it.
Awesome unit! Hope we get lots of snow to play with this winter!
I want a diesel so bad. I have a 318 now and for what it is it does impress the hell out of me with its 49 blower but I too feel I need something bigger for my property size. A 455 is on my wish list!
Nice find! Glad you were able to get your hands on it

Thanks Brandon! As am I.
Just seeing this for the first time, congrats on the 455
That intro is very cool. Great job there.
Great video!
Awsome tractor. Good luck. I have a 445 with cab. And I paid 44 hundred with the plow.
I have a 455 too with around 500 hours on it, only bummer is the side panels as you probably know.
that's an incredible rig you got there Rory

john carnall Personally I think the X series improved on this design, especially with MFWD. That being said, the 455 was the last major incremental step in garden tractor design.
I love the intro to this video! That 455 is such a pristine tractor, and for what you actually paid out of pocket, you pretty much stole it.

Thanks Michael! These tractor videos are as much about hobby videography as they are about tractors themselves, so I really appreciate your compliment. Yeah - the way I look at it, trading all of my 425 stuff plus $1,000 for a diesel is well worth it. Especially considering how well these hold their value. After I bought this one, not a single one has showed up for sale since. It was scary paying twice the cost of my car for a tractor, but I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

It's worth every penny. $1000 CAD is roughly $770 USD, which can barely even get you a running 455. I know of a running 455 that sold for $500 but it was in very rough shape.
I’m late but how did you do that intro? I need tips! Lol.
I just found a very clean 455, 576 hours on it, very straight body with no cracks. 60” mower deck and a 54” quick attach plow for $4500 and he won’t take any less.. do you think it’s a decent deal? I have a BX25d but I just want something to strictly mow with without having to keep gasoline around. I’d much rather just buy another diese
What camera do you use
nice 455 sorry to see the 425 go?
Moooovin on upppp to the 455555 to the diesel up in the skyyyy

Lake Stamp Ordinarily I would but.. no need. That's for a future video, haha
Now ya just need to put some AG tires on that bad boy,, or the tires that come on the X700 series they are supposed to be great in the snow also.. not as good as Ag’s but real good none the less...

I've heard of the HDAP tires. Usually, we just put chains on turfs here; our property is hilly in some spots and the driveway is gravel so it makes sense.
Dang now I really want one. But I wouldn’t trade my 425 for anything.

I'd be willing to bet you'd trade for a 455 haha. There's nothing like them.
