John Deere 350B will it run part 1, ETR.

Ойын-сауық

Here they are The official East Terminal Railway tee shirts! railroadmerch.com/
In this video we start the process of bringing a new piece of equipment back to the yard. We watch will it run videos where these people go into junkyards and see if they can get old equipment and old trucks to start, we wanted to know and have wondered how much skin do they have in the game. a.k.a. how hard is it. So we bought this little dozer not knowing the history or if it would run. We need this dozer on the railroad to assist us in land clearing, Tie polling and ballast spreading. This will be a multiple part series on this little dozer.

Always a good idea to drain the first half quart out of the oil pan to see if you have any water in the sump

Just a comment that I want positive... When you have a specialist like the operator that was digging the ditches, I really believe that your role is resumed to look and learn, not to give him your directives ! I am convince that he would do a marvelous job cleaning the rest of the sides that are not cleaned wide enough. You left big trees that keep the shade keeping the humidity keeping the vegetation growing fast and dense. Your son is a marvelous operator of all your machinerie.

I love that you relate personal freedom with personal responsibility. Too extend your analogy, too many people today scream that their personal freedom is being trampled on when their own personal car breaks down because they haven't done any maintenance on it in 5 years. People also forget that personal freedom does not mean everyone else has to get out of your way. If everyone gets in their car and creates a traffic jam that slows you down that's not someone taking away your freedom. That's simply the result of everyone trying to go to the same place.

You can put any primary and secondary filters and filter bases on that with a little refitting work and use a different set of course and fine filters. You just need to know what the secondary filter micron is needed. Like Cats engines are 2....but old cummins were 10-15 microns. Primary are just a screen or course. A cummins base and a 25 cummins filter of 25 microns will work there. Old Cats were just a steel cam with a mesh screen....no filter, They went to a spin-on because of cold weather gel-ups....it was quicker to spin on a filter instead of using wrenches and a swishy-washy and reseal job that took more time.

When I was working ( been retired for 17 years now ) I worked outside most of my life, I purchased a pair of 5” Servus Brand rubber boots to go over my work shoes. They have 2 buckles for easy on and off. These cost around $40.00 on Amazon. Order 2 sizes larger than your work shoes. I’ll tell you they make a huge difference and your feet will stay warm, even if you have steel toes. Also great for wet & muddy work areas. Gary

mechanical lift pump.. does it create vacuum when you pump it with a finger over the inlet tube?? it should.. if yes.. does it create vacuum when cranking the engine.. then does it hold vacuum. that lets you know if the check valves inside are good or dirty. please find a piece of wood to put over the intake .. it will suck the skin off your hand if you try to put your hand over it.

A #9300 detachable back hoe which attaches to either machine. Recently my friend and I rebuilt a Cat D-5 from 1951, and fixed the 1948 Cat D-8. We buy Cat Yellow spray paint by the box. If clutchs need to be done there's videos on here showing repair. Also with diesels a lot of guys use wd40 rather than starting fluid Starting fluid can wash oil rings dry if to much is used. I had ford 450 diesel (company truck) when I had to use starting F I would just spray the grill near intake, most just need a little sniff

You may already know this but the 350B had an issue with the bolts holding the reverser on the transmission loosening up. If they do it causes the connecting shaft splines to wear and you have to split the tractor apart to fix the shaft, which is a major operation. Those should be checked before you try operating it for very long.

Great dozer . 6 way blade is very handy . They did have a root rake for it as well . It will service you well . ? In my teen years (13) a friend and I happened on an old tractor in an old warehouse area. I think it was a Massey Harris. It had a crank and a battery. We got this brain wave that we were going to get it running. (We have no idea who owned and we kind of didn't care). We'd go to school and then after school ,ride our bikes to the tractor. We spent about a week tinkering with this thing. This thing was sunk in a muddy yard. For some reason I allocated a 1-1/2 ton bottle jack and we Jacked it up using wood and planking that we could find laying around. The tires were holding air. We hauled fuel another day so we knew it had fuel. We took tools another day. I'd crank and crank that sucker, but a 13 year old that weighed 90 pounds wasn't going to get enough muscle into that. I don't know how , but we managed to get a battery and my friends parents dropped it off at the tractor. We got it to turn over. We tried for a while and it started to putter and fart into life. And that was when it hit us. LMAO. What the hell were we going to do with this tractor once we actually got it running, because it almost was running now. We got scared and abounded the project. We couldn't see two 13 year olds driving a tractor down the street going over that great. LoL. We had a lot of fun though. We don't know what became of the tractor. It sat there for a few more years and then it was gone.

Question for you folks, would you permit me to copy your logo into a decal ? I'd like to create some rolling stock for my layout ? I love the smaller, unique roads.

Personal freedom means a lot of different things to a lot of different people I'm a libertarian and I believe that the government should stay out of almost every aspect of your life But more and more I see government being everybody's parent and especially when it comes to the Republicans and the conservative people and the Christian people they really want to control every aspect of your life and it's all about what you cannot do and what you must do and there's no personal freedom no personal Liberty and it's not what America is supposed to be
