    When you pull the steering lever the first part of the movement disengages the drive and the end of the movement tightens the brake band. If you pull both levers all the way back and the machine doesn't move its set up right. If it kills the motor the clutches aren't disengaging but the brakes are working. If it rolls forward clutches aren't disengaging and brakes aren't set tight enough. Hope this helps. Machine that have sat awhile usually have clutches that don't want to slip.

    On the injection pump a steel washer is used either side of the banjo fitting on the line. They are steel for a reason - very high PSI! Secondly if your copper washers are not thick enough the bolts securing lines will protrude into the housing to far and cause problems with rotating parts. Remember High PSI, if you like your fingers don't stick them near leaks on injection lines! If fuel gets injected into your fingers doctors cut them off at the nearest joint. FYI.

    If you haven't actually operated a 350 before, and it has a direction reverser, one thing you'll notice is it's nearly impossible to inch it along using the clutch pedal. This is because the flow of torque goes engine-clutch-reverser-transmission. If it's in gear and the clutch pedal is pushed down and you slowly release it, it'll pretty much jump and not mush. This is because when the clutch pedal is pushed down, the reverser is not turning and thus, no hydraulic pressure to engage its clutch. Once it gets turning, one of the clutches (either forward or reverse) will fully engage. If you push the clutch pedal down, the reverser stops and loses its hydraulic pressure and its clutch will disengage. Then you let the pedal back up a bit, the reverser starts to turn, the hydraulic pump builds pressure...........and so on. Also, if the steering clutches and brakes are adjusted properly, it'll turn at any speed. Most likely your clutches are gummed up and need to be cleaned and/or adjusted. As noted in another comment here, when you pull a steering lever, the track clutch will disengage and if you pull it harder, the track brake will engage. If it has a reverser and you have trouble killing the engine getting started in 4th, push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor. Put it in 4th. Pull both steering levers all the way back. Let out the clutch pedal (this can be done fast or slow, the dozer won't move with both steering levers all the way back). Then slowly release the steering levers. This also works to inch along but it's pretty tricky to do it smoothly.

    When being charged, lead acid batteries release hydrogen gas, which is explosive over a very wide range of proportions when mixed with air. Like acetylene, that wide explosive range makes hydrogen quite dangerous, since you don't need the perfect mixture with air to generate a powerful explosion. I saw a battery which had blown up inside a man's Corvette decades ago. At the tire store where I was working, we sopped up the acid, and replaced his battery. Luckily, no acid got on him because sulfuric acid inside a battery can destroy your skin in seconds since it has a great affinity for the water inside your skin cells. A face shield is a good idea when messing around with lead acid batteries which might be exploded by any spark igniting escaping hydrogen. Generally in industry, hydrogen is only used when it is the only gas that will work. Over time hydrogen also makes many metals brittle by working its way into the tiny cracks between the metal crystals. It is called 'hydrogen embrittlement''. It sounds impossible but it really happens because the hydrogen gas molecules are so tiny that they can get into any gap. Eventually, the metal part will fail.

    looks in images like a fully threaded bolt about an inch and a half or inch and 3/4 long... a jam nut.. and this is the adjustment if you pull both levers back? if it does you are not adjusted right or the discs are swollen and wont allow it to release. levers should only have about 1 1/2 inch free play before throwout touches fingers then about 6 inches to brake apply..

  • @AndysShed
    @AndysShed3 жыл бұрын

    I think the reason the battery blew up is you were trying to pull too many amps fropm too small a battery. That big one you've got now looks much better. If you're going to rebuild the fuel pump then check the 'o'-rings you put in are compatible for use in a biodiesel system. Most fuel producers now put a certain ammount of bio into their diesel mix and chemicals in the boi can attack some types of rubber seals. If you make the pump biodiesel compatible then you could probably run on pure biodiesel and get your running costs down quite a bit. Here in the UK commercially produced biodiesel is about 20 pence per litre cheaper than normal diesel and that's including tax as road fuel. For off road use, bio is about 50 pence cheaper per litre. That soon adds up when you're using a couple of 20ltr cans per week. Bio is also a very good fuel for pressure kero lanterns such as Tilley lamps.
