I've never seen John enjoy himself on stage like that before. This is what it's all about!
"We got this old floozy with us...." that's classic. Probably would never have gotten away with that today. Just think though, this was in the early 80's right as John was really hitting it big and what a decade the 80's was for him.

Yeah definitely wouldn’t of gotten away with that today. Considering on how sensitive this generation is.
One of my favorite songs of his!!!

An underrated classic for sure. Hell the entire *American Fool* album is.
I remember seeing this live. I love American Bandstand. To me this was a great time and a time I miss so much. John C. One of my favs then and today. Keeping rockin brother! The ol “floozy” Patricia Ann Cole was a very good friend of John’s and a very good singer as well.
Killer rare footage of an incredible deep track. Thanks for posting!
Awe the eighties. When you could call someone a floozy on TV. And everyone laughed cause no harm was meant it was funny. Today all hell would of broke loose. 🤘😍

Something very nice about the clearly 100% unrehearsed dancing.
Excellent, never seen this footage before.
THIS IS A TOP SONG TAKES ME WAY BACK YEAH YEAH YEAH ❤❤❤❤
So underrated!!
That was Mellencamp's best band with Larry Crane, Kenny Aronoff & Toby Myers.

Wow that was cool
For all you lip sync detectives, It has always been common knowledge that American Bandstand has EVERY performer lip sync... I have seen John Mellencamp live.... He is better live than on any record he recorded... Great live stage performer
GENIAL AMIGO. JOHN MELLENCAMP ES GRANDIOSO
Oh how I wish we could have these days back. You know he and (“The Floozy”) PP Arnold were good friends and JCM not have a racist bone in his body! God Bless You John-always. One of my fave songs to this day!!
Raw singing ❤
..always LOVED this song..one of my favorites from American Fool..used to crank it up LOUD in my car back in the summer of '82...not sure why it wasn't released as a single, definitely good enough to have been...I sure wish they would play this song occasionally on Classic Rock stations!..they won't even play "Hand to Hold On To", which WAS a hit from American Fool..no, it's gotta either be Jack&Diane or Hurts So Good(don't get me wrong, those are great songs, too, but way overplayed on classic rock radio..in some ways, classic rock radio is a lot the same as top 40 pop radio..only certain songs are gonna get played..well, at least our local small-town station here DOES play "Play Guitar" from Uh-Huh sometimes..:)...albeit the edited "censored" version... :(
HOLY SH ...... gosh !
this is one of the best LIVE anything of his... just wish he'd done danger list & close enough live
