John Bunyan | The Journey of a Pilgrim | Full Movie | Dr. Martin Spence | Dr. George Mitchell

Ойын-сауық

This documentary tells the story of cooper (barrel maker) Jock Troup, whose passion for evangelism would greatly contribute to the 1921 Fishermen’s Revival which swept through the fishing ports of England and Scotland. Known as the “Revival Man,” Jock Troup was a working-class Scot who experienced a dramatic conversion and calling as a young man. Troup was on fire with the power of Christ and in a time of great economic hardship, he dedicated himself to reaching the lost in the towns and villages dotting the coast of northern Great Britain. In this documentary, noted Bible scholars, authors and eyewitnesses give their insight into Jock's life and detail the remarkable events that led to scores of men coming to Christ.

"Like his Lord and Saviour, Bunyan carried his cross bravely - A pilgrim and a stranger on this earth making his way home." I love John Bunyan's response to the king's men when asked if he would stop preaching the gospel, if they were to release him, "If you release me from prison today, I shall preach tomorrow." He consequently served 12 years in prison with contentment through the grace of God. Heavenly Father, give us the grace to carry our cross bravely - no retreat! Father, as we face persecution and the trials of life, may we endure these seasons with the mind of Christ Jesus: knowing that he that endures to the end shall be saved; knowing that we are not alone - for You are with us in our troubles; knowing that whatever hardship You deem fit to put us through will build godly character within us, and will strengthen and prepare us for a greater work, a greater glory, and to be a blessing to the Body of Christ, even to the world. Heavenly Father, I thank You for the trials and persecutions You've allowed to come my way, because more than ever before, I feel Your love and the comfort of Your Holy Spirit. If this is where I have to be to experience the assurance of Your love, then keep me here. I presently feel no fear. More than ever before I have the assurance that in this great spiritual warfare I am safe and secured in Christ Jesus, my Lord. The joy of the Lord truely has become my strength. "The Lord is my Light and my Salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the Defence of my life of whom shall I be afraid? Though a host of demons encamp against me, my heart will not fear; though war rises against me, even in this I shall be confident." I love you my God. Strengthen Your people, today. Thank You for the indwelling and forever abiding Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name. Amen

Very good video on the life of John Bunyan! I'm thankful to have come across it. Just wanted to point out that when the man in this video speaks about the "State Church", he's referring to the Catholic Church at that time. The Catholic Church heavily persecuted anyone who read the Bible for themselves and preached the truth revealed to them in God's word. Thanks to Bunyan who was an integral piece of the protestant reformation. I also think its important to point out that John Bunyan's story about the Pilgrims Progress was, I believe, inspired by God. He dreamed this story in a dream and wrote it down.

@James Montagna The Catholic Church and the Anglican Church both heavily persecuted protestants. The Catholic Church most definitely persecuted people for reading the Bible. This is why William Tyndale was burned at the stake because he was translating the Bible into English so that people could actually read it. The Catholic Church didn't want people to be able to read the Bible for themselves because they would then be able to see that they were clearly misguiding them by teaching confessions to priests, purgatory, indulgences, and many other seriously wrong teachings. The inquisition is an interesting thing to study. History is laid out. Through studying scripture, I also take the same position as many of the protestant reformers that the Catholic Church is the beast of revelation and this is why I think its so important to talk about their history. The beast is, has been, and always will be the Roman Catholic Church. However, many catholics are unaware of this and I believe many will be in heaven as we are all judged according to the light we've been given. Blessings to you Mr. Montagna.

The changing of Sabbath day to Sunday is an authority claimed by the Roman Catholic church. They changed times and laws, which the Protestant world bows to it and pays homage by considering Sunday as Sabbath Day.

Sabbath is Saturday, the seventh day according to the Bible, not Sunday which is the first day of the week when Jesus rose from the dead as what most Christians term as Easter Sunday. The Bible is very clear that Jesus was raised from the grave on the first day of the week which is Sunday. The same clearness in teaching that Sabbath day is the seventh day of the week. I hope you won't confuse Sabbath day and Sunday.

Very likely she is able this very moment to look upon her Saviour, with eyes that see more clearly than ours, in the presence of her loving and glorified earthly father.
