I feel like a true place of honor exists here, one like and it’s from vlog brothers themselves (my three favorites are the one on the hike in the desert 1:01:12 because “It’s Hanks Wallet, and two rocks” is a major vocal stim, the vidcon one 42:59 for its weird sense of nihilism and aggressive brother vibes, and Hanklerfish 2:06:32 for similar chaos and because it always makes me laugh at the bizarre nature of it all)

My all-time favourite reunion video is not included here, it’s called “planets don’t exist”. One notable event is Hank getting raptured. Other faves include “suit up a very fancy reunion video” (do your best impression of your favourite dinosaur) and “nerds at the beach: a reunion video” (old school vlogbrothers, reminds me of 2016 when I discovered the channel and binge watched the whole thing from the beginning).

In order of appearance - Around 47 - Airport Reunion for this quote "It felt like starting a lot of sentences and then not knowing how to finish them" - Around 1:01 - Green brother reunions for the mention of how Alice is like a chatbot AND for Hank mentioning wanting a job where he could wear a mohawk at 40 - accomplished ;) - Then it gets tricky because the older ones are so endearing from the tour days to the 2009 FAQ about who can be a nerdfighter and nerdfighter terms, but I might have to go with (forgot to write the date and time stamp) when Maureen mentions John crossing her name out of books and signing them because of my low-key old school nerdfighter hall of fame for myself when recommended John go into a store and sign his name in a book - and he found Maureen's at a used bookstore instead of his own LOL Thanks for this walk down memory lane!

Is This Mole A Concern got me, after having melanoma. And yes, the sun does give you cancer. (The mole I had was a birthmark, in the same place as a mole my great-grandfather had before he passed from melanoma. Thankfully for me, medicine is better and I am OK now.)

It's deeply troubling that despite all the attention the Green brothers bring to pressing issues in medicine, we still know nothing of the condition that causes them to appear younger and more pixelated the further back their videos were released.

I envy you. I discovered them only earlier this year. That is, discovered them as an entity. I've been seeing John's books on the library shelf (mostly with dog-eared covers, well-used, well-read) and have been seeing Hank's enthusiastic face and hearing that voice on SciShow videos. Only earlier this year did I discover Vlogbrothers (because of Hank's "I have cancer" video) and found out only then, that they are important people to younger millennials and Gen-Z. (Speaking generationally, I'm an older Gen-Xer). I wish I had people like this too look up to, a group like Nerdfighteria that work together for greater good in the world, and companies like DFTBA that make a difference in the world. I guess in my generation, we had things like Band-Aid, USA for Africa, and LiveAID (though found out later, that a lot of that money got diverted to corrupt governments). The internet, social media and streaming can be used for good. Mostly, it's not but those two guys are making a difference and so is your generation. Maybe you will save us from what my generation (and especially those that came right before us) started - the corporate greed, the climate crisis, etc. That you have people like these brothers to that set a good example and to galvanize a group to do good things gives me some hope.

We know that well intentioned, intelligent people are as likely, if not more so, to be indoctrinated into misinformation and the places that leads, no matter how terrible, as anybody else and trying to turn them back is a very difficult thing indeed because human brains are just the worst. I’ll not defend her views but I can see how she got to them and why she might think she’s entitled to them. Very decent people just forty years ago would have had the same opinions about homosexuality. Very decent people just a hundred years ago would have had the same opinions about black people. Combine a minority you don’t know personally with a compelling and plausible narrative that you’ve no reason to doubt (because, once again, you don’t know them personally) and our feeble human brains can be willing to believe anything. So yes, the story of Harry Potter is now tainted by its association with a terrible message. It has, largely in spite of many of the clear themes of the text, become a dog whistle for disgusting propaganda. The tragedy of it all is the suffering of the people marginalised by that message. The lesser tragedy of it all is the decent people who have been duped into believing and promoting that message who we may never get back

Just to point out that hank saying 'You're fine, You're doing great, We're all going to die.' at 27:07 genuinely brought me to tears for a second. The exact thing that instills emotion in me is always when for a second I can see someone else's brain work like mine does and this moment of 'We're all going to die' not as a nihilistic comment but as a comment that ageing is okay hit me way harder than I expected.

@@JulieHerrick When they asked if they could ignore the 4-minute rule, a bunch of people wanted to keep the idea of punishments because of tradition, but didn't want to actually make things worse for Hank or John. So the compromise agreed upon in the comment section was that they are still "punished," but their "punishment" is that they're required to go do something of their choice to take care of themselves. I don't think it's super official, but now when they break the traditional rules, people tell them to go do some self-care. It can be something like hydrating or taking a deep breath too, I just figured family time would be easy given that they both celebrate Christmas.

You know you've reached the perfect balance of _silly_ and *serious* when you leave your audience staring off into the sunset contemplating life and the world with wonder in their eyes, tears on their cheeks, and a smile on their face.

aw “question tuesdays never got a second appearance” but it does!! don’t fear younger john, you bring it back!!

It's impressive how we didn't notice how few pixels the world had back then. I look in the mirror now and see myself in hi-def, but I'd be surprised if anyone comments that they noticed the first time they pet their dog in 360p, or saw Grandma in color for the first time.

i adore the amount of times they have swapped glasses and made the same observations

So, Christmas Eve is always really difficult for me, as it's the anniversary of my dad's death. There's never any telling how I'll handle this day, but this anniversary (the 15th) is particularly challenging. However, it turns out old Vlogbrothers reunion videos are exceptionally comforting. Thanks for making this day a bit better for me.

This is not what I expected when Hank said he was going to upload a weird video today, but this warms my heart ❤️ Merry Christmas Eve, John and Hank!

Why am I crying while watching this? I hate how weird I am. I've been feeling so overwhelmed and stressed and anxious during the holidays that I didn't really know how much I've been holding my breath and holding it all in until I clicked on this vid... and it just gave me so much comfort that I felt my body unwind and I was able to breath, and now I'm sobbing over 2 dudes who don't even know me. If those adorable idiots, calling one of their wives "the yeti", would only know that in a few years they would play a significant part in the fight against tubercolosis and raise millions of dollars for all kinds of purposes... In the middle of watching this and it warms my heart to watch this in it’s entirety! My mother had passed two weeks ago due to recovery complications from her cancer remission. Call it being overly emotional but this channel has comforted me in all aspects after finding this KZread (albeit late) on February 2023. I’m thankful to have find this community at all, and it’s definitely made my year less stressful to go through. Happy holidays to Hank, John and all of Nerdfighteria. I only hope for health and happiness for everyone in this upcoming new year ❤.

If you joined after Project for Awesome this year, just wait until next February. P4A is one of the most glorious parts are Nerdfighteria and I think you're going to love experiencing it either for the first time or for the first time as a full-fledged part of the community.

god this vid sent me through a spiral. iv been watching since i was little, youtube came out when i was 6. my dad and i watch the videos religiously. the X jokes in X minutes was always my go to. as an 24 (25 in january) year old its just brings so many memories. nerdfighter forever, probably my longest fandom. thank you for everything youve done and the impact youve made on my life. this girl from Chicago grew up with you guys and hope to do so for the rest of my life.

Best Christmas present I ever received. Mostly because I don't celebrate it, but also because it's great

Omg I’ve been doing the same thing! I have a very busy brain and usually cannot get it to shut up and let me go to sleep, but the last few nights having this on in the background has really helped me doze off. I’m way past childhood but it feels like listening to the grownups talking in another room at a family gathering. Just makes me feel safe.

I didn't have ulcerative colitis in 2016, but I do now, so Hank's goal for 2031 is the same as mine.

While watching this I realized I started watching in 2009 and I’m 30 now, so I’ve been watching y’all for almost half the time I’ve been alive. That feels so surreal. Thank you for all of it

I also started in 2009. I was in my 20s and it was the first year I had broadband access and I became just a tad addicted to the internet.

oh my god this is exactly what i do sometimes - binge watching hank and john reunion videos - and now it's conveniently in one video!!!

Oh boy, I didn't look at the runtime until hank mentioned they'd been talking for 2:50 and assumed they had just rambled through almost half of a 6-10min montage vid. Oh boy! What a treat for Xmas eve!

Hearing the old video intros unlocked core memories of being in high school and spending HOURS watching all these KZread videos

Reunion videos also make me weepy, thinking about all this community has accomplished. It's been a pleasure to grow and evolve alongside these two human beings and the community we've all built together. Started when I was 12, now I'm 24 and about to be in law school! Can't believe how much we've grown.
