The sign "Oiling Instructions" and the Coke "Zero" killed me! :-)))
Bobby Hutchinson and Joey D. Are amazing and the flow is what jazz is (right on)😎
I love it !!! I remember hanging with joey after a gig in Miami and he asked me if I played, and I showed my short fat fingers and then he showed me his and we both had a good laugh

Understood. I was thinking along those lines when I saw the close-up. It reminded me of a few years ago when I realized that people learn to use whatever physical attributes & talents they possess. If humans were all born with two fingers music may be a little different . . . or maybe it would be much the same. It comes from the brain and the heart.
I love the shot of the oiling instructions for the Hammond. I think Joey is well oiled.
A wonderful musical collaboration. And a great jazz tune 😀🙏🎼🎼
One of my favorite tunes..Loved the jam session. Two greats that will be truly missed!
The theme song from the television series Naked City in the 50s Somewhere in the Night
My god that vibe solo is insane!! So funky. Hutcherson was an OG.
Byron Landham is KILLING IT with boatloads of groove and propulsion. Did you catch Bobby's expression of joy during Ulf Wakenius' soulful solo?...nothing invisible about that, kid.
What a deep and soulful groove these great musicians are laying down, I could listen to this all night...Come On!
I love your organ vibes Joey especially with this song! Go Joey an Bobby Go!
Go Joey Go Bobby H Rest in Peace My Eternal Heros
When I saw Bobby Hutcherson perform at the Vancouver Jazz Festival some years back I lucked out and got a ticket in the front row, on a side aisle. While most people saw him playing vibes head on, I viewed him from the side, getting a much better close up look. It was like he was making LOVE to that vibraphone. This is very hip and Joey DeFrancesco is perfect here. Thanks for posting this!
Joey is the greatest that ever did it
Awesome! Love that Tenor Solo!
-good track, and super performing by star musicians, thx for posted it ..
that's just simply beautiful
Thank you Gentlemen 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Enjoying great music..
Sax solo gives me goosebumps. Beautiful changes.
Fantastic to read all the comments from the “backseat” musicians and other experts, for me they are just a bunch of very very good musicians :) :) :)
love this music, joey is the best!!
I used to go down the street to see Bobby at the Lighthouse in 1968. Seems like Harol Land was there too.
lovely!!
Fabulous..thx
so smooth
Real cool!
SILOFON ACÚSTICO... sonidos particulares...
Would give anything to revisit this concert..
Killer performance of one of my favorite Grant Green associated tunes. These players are just cookin' the fuck up, I love it when cats get to that zone when it's just like they playin' after hours.
Beautiful giants...
world of music is missing two greats in bobby and joey
muy exquisito este platillo para mis sentidos
I guess the organ rental company was like, “ we don’t have any B3s available right now. However, we do have this old A105 in the back you can use.” 😃 Sounds fantastic though!
Not only was "Naked City" a great T.V. show it also had one best T. V. theme song this side of "Peter Gunn". Joey DeFrancesco & Bobby Hutcherson have reimagined the theme superbly. Working with A list musicians as back up Joey DeFrancesco & Bobby Hutcherson take it to the next level and it's a complete game changer. I bet Billy May envisioned this version when he composed the original theme. "There are eight million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them." You dig?

Does anyone remember the great Johnny staccato series with a great soundtrack by Elmer Bernstein? It was great also
Snare drum it's louder than the others instruments; but it's good jazz anyway.
Ulf blows it. No soul just flash and this tune is not about flash. It's a seductive melody that swings, his solo sticks out lie a sore numb dumb thumb.

I don't like to dis anyone, but Ulf made it sound like the song was a Joe Bonamassa composition. He was "very good" at doing that, but it doesn't conform to the song's intended style and mood. It sounds like they jumped into a whole new unrelated song, altogether.
Joey D. is playing an A model here - sounds like the B/C, but the console version of the Hammond Tonewheel. It often played through the internal speakers. He is using a Leslie cabinet with it. Not as cool as a B-3, but proof that you can jam on a "church organ."
rip bobby!
Still searching the version with the singer included. I know Carly Simon did a version in her album "Film Noir"
Actually the Hammond model is C-3. Anyway, amazing players!

You're right on both counts, Osmo but you'd have to be an organist to know the first one!
Sure sounds like Ron Blake is soothing a bar from Johnny Mercer's Laura from 6:01 - 6:06. Sweet.

In my humble opinion I would say that Ulf Wakenius on the guitar is awesome, but I’m no expert..... :) :) :)
1960s series television series theme song I think Paul Burke was the star how do I do that
Who's the sax player?
Joey's A100 (german/european model) seems pretty detuned here...! Anyone else hearing this? Something wrong with it, I guess. Nevertheless, great musicianship, as always!

joey is always amazing, moongel/damper for Byron's snare PLEASE!!
@invisiblekid14 I 'm not sure you have any knowledge of jazz so let me introduce you to Ulf Wakenius one of the most respected guitarists in the world right now.
Oops ! Make that David Raksin and Johnny Mercer.
i think bass player killer everybody
Wayne shorter quote at the end. Btfl footage
@guitarman770514 jazz can be a repetition of notes with one note you obviously dont have ears for

Who is the guitarist?
I agree, whats the rush? He has some nice stuff but he is in a hurry to nowhere!
the guitarist plays always the same thing!! at: 07:39 - 07:41 - 07-45 - 07:57 - 08:22 - 08:30 - 08:33 - 08:39!!
y'all are trippin. Bobby seems to completely disagree with y'all at 8:00. Ulf did a killer solo !!
bass played by Joey's left hand.....its a b3.....

The snare drum is so overpowering and tuned totally out of whack for this ensemble. I've heard him before and always tasteful and in the pocket, not so much here.

needed a little muff..for sure..harmonic all over the place..
The sax cat played with more swing and soul then all others. The guitarist played lots of notes ...all I'll say.
@Gmuns1

more notes than you'll ever play that's for sure
Oh Man Ooof Wakin' It is way off no soul no swing. Why was he on this gig?

Saw an ad in Craigslist Germany. Their Jazz guitar guy got sick. Got a fusion guy instead. Too bad it creates a weird midsection for the song.
It's all about the spirit and most of you dont understand the drummers role in organ grinder pots and pans African American Classical music. Stop fricking criticizing. Why must you technicalize everything. There is nothing wrong with the snare play.GO AWAY!
I do love the vibes playing of Bobby Hutcherson, who is a master, but this comes close to being what's called "elevator music", right??
Hey Tunefultony . . . how ironic that someone calling himself tuneful thinks beautiful melodies constitute "elevator music." So sad. And how ridiculous that this extremely sophisticated and inventive interpretation is completely lost on listeners who've comet think that inanely repeated riffs over fake drum looping is NOT perfect for standing in little metal boxes rising up and falling down perpetually and ad nauseum in every sense of the word.

@invisiblekid14 Baseball cap, ginger hair... Hmm very strong arguments. I guess you have the same problem with most of the great players who, sometimes, play too many notes (for your brain). Right? Come on man, leave the genre alone, is not for your taste.
Gelder Studio. No different, same good as Larry,Grant and Elvin.

www.reactiongifs.us/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/sort_of_disagree_office_space.gif No comparison to nor with Grant Green.
My take on this session. Nice tune but it got lost in blues cliche - ridden organ and guitar solos . And it's way too long, it's not the kind of a tune to go on 11 minutes.
The guitar solo sucks
