just heard Joe Locke live for the first time last night. He spoke of Bobby Hutcherson with admiration and respect. All of it true and earned.

I learned modern harmony in 95 for the first time, got my real book in 97. Never played this tune, listened to this, thought bobby's impro was the actual melody. Utterly class job by him. Re-write the song with those notes.

it's always touching to see a musician playing in tears. had the same feeling seeing dweezil zappa playing his father's masterpiece "watermelon in easter hay" with a river of tears on his cheeks

Lucky you. I never saw Bobby, I lost Joe Locke a few months ago in my town because of bad publicity of the live bar that he played

This performance of two giants of the vibes perhaps has no equal. Each time I listen, I hear different variations of the beautiful theme of this long standing composition. Thank you for sharing. Now, how can I stop listening?
