    If you guys are referring to the drums lagging during the head out: 9:49 , then you need to do some more listening to realize he is modulating the time to a 3 over 4 type of feel. This simulates the feeling of slowing down, but if you listen to the bassist and the rest of the group the drummer is right on point. These guys aren't messing up the time, they're masters of the instrument it doesn't happen.

    Those guys are so spread apart on that stage... time is different all over the place. I feel like Bobby Hutcherson is visibly disturbed by the quality of the ending... More of a blowing session than a performance. Still, they have some inspired moments, esp. Joey, Bobby and the drummer (whose name I'd like to know!).

    The back of the Hammond is off !, and the amped-up tONE would be rite' there to play with your mind's B-3 receptors except for the over-reverby room and sound-leakage which is like an empty Amazon warehouse..... Bobby Hutcherson has a cast-iron, certified legend-status, so my hearing of a lack of spark in his solo suggests hes unhappy with the sound, too, though he does in the '8s. This chap Ulf is hot. How he stands calmly for five mins then comes straight into blisteringly accurate arpeggios of doom suggests he has eaten the Frank Gambale video collection for breakfast since he was 3.5. I like Byron , who seems to be Joey's go-to sticks man, more and more. He's tasty, calm, and cultured, partic'larly on his hats and a sensitive listner. Ron Blake sounds like '63 Eric Dolphy after a couple of gin and tonics and I like his tone. Joey shines on his solo at this tempo, his mind is clear and his lines are 1969-functional. No theatrics, which is refreshing. Thanks a lot for excellent post.

    The C-3 wasn't equipped with a speakersystem . The organ, you see on the video, has a speakersystem (with a poweramp plus a reverbamp) so it can't be a C-3. It's a A-105 (Tudorstyle) wich looks very like a C-3.

    The organ used here appears to be some odd species. It's obviously of the A-100 series, but it has a folding top. An A-105 has a similar top, but uses a modified "C" cabinet, that is deeper. Since this was filmed in Germany, I would assume that is a cabinet used by European vendors only (like the M-3's in mini "C" cabinets seen there as we..)..

    Craig Browning I'm looking across the room at my A-105 right now, and it looks just like this. I'm not sure where you got the idea that an A-105 uses a modified "C" cabinet--it's A-100 series all the way, though it obviously is styled after the "C" it has the same dimensions as all the other A-100 series.

  • @craigbrowning9448

    @craigbrowning9448

    +Akbar Jefferson A-105's and C's(V2&3+D) are Deeper than other A-100, as the Preamps in the C Cabinet are mounted on next to the generator on the same deck, on mostvA-100's (not A-105's) the Preamp is mounted upside-down below the generator for the ability to have a shallower cabinet. The A-100 Preamp is called an AO-28-5, the "-5" refers to the expression Cap. being electrically backwards, due to the upside-down placement. The A-105 adds a Speaker Baffle, a Reverb. knob, power & Reverb. amps,speakers and a Gothic motived back to a "C" Cabinet. The Prototype A-100 was infarct a C-3 that was went through a fire in a church and was returned to the Hammond plant in 1957 (fact C/O Bob Schleicher). The A-105 was continued after 1965 (when other A-100 production ceased), largely because of common parts with a C-3.

    Isn't it a D-105? That's an A-105, but equipped with larger speakers and amps from, I think, the PR-40 tone cabinet. And some extra stuff, too.

    Something is wrong here. And please don't flame me, but almost every soloist plays like they are running out of air. They are all great players, but here I feel the music dies. Take Myron Waldens solo. He just seem to be in another place. Ok, sorry it is of course a personal opinion, like everything with music is. So I am not trying to offend anybody!

    With respect, you are correct. We have here a bunch of very good musicians not gelling at all. The only solo that connects is Joey's. This happens with pickup bands, no matter how good the musicians. . .

  • @wkalkhof

    The beginning was kind of a train wreck. I think they got off on the wrong foot--everyone trying to figure out where they fit--and it just derailed the tune as a whole. Instead of six great musicians coming together, you had six great musicians that sounded like they were at home shedding with a Jamey Aebersold play-a-long album. They didn't connect here, though there were some moments where I thought it would get off the ground.
