To be fair to Joey Barton, he has got a lot better since the last typical Barton incident, his knee in the side to Aguero at The Etihad. I've watched him play for QPR since coming back from France and he seems a new player. I could never look past his attitude and credit him for being a good midfielder, now I recognise the talented midfielder he is. Fair play to him, and fair play to Savage, I never considered him an overly violent player but to only have 2 reds for someone who'd still be considered a tough player is impressive, to pick up that amount of yellows and then to be able to keep a lid on it is also impressive. There are far more dirty, hot headed players who should be sitting talking about this subject....

djchucky yeah true. it's a very serious psychological issue he has, as is Joey Barton's anger issues. I cant understand why any grown man would have it in their personality to think it's ok to bite people when they get a bit cross. The worst thing about it for me is not just the poor blokes who've been on the receiving end of these cunts psychotic actions, it's the folk who defend them and the example it sets to the kids. Kids who wanna play football copy what they see, and look to role models. How can anyone with half a brain accept these three twats and the majority of the overpaid wanks playing the game as role models?!

Barton is sort of insulting Savage by saying Savage didn’t have the switch to anger that all the great midfield players had. Barton is trying to put himself in the Souness, Keane and Vieira category in terms of that fire, if not ability. But the truth is that Savage was a good player (I say this even as a Forest fan) and had a better career than Barton, and though he got up to antics he had enough control to not do anything truly reprehensible (unlike Barton).

It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Barton is a really interesting guy, a number of years ago I was speaking to someone within the youth setup at City and apparently one of the things that they test for with the young players coming through is IQ and in the 15 years or so this guy had been at the club, no one had got anywhere near his IQ score.

Why are they making Savage out to be a hard man? Not that they were either. Savage was a wind up merchant and would go down easy and play act to get people sent off.
