But later he openly said her name when they arrived to Jackson (before they knew Tommy was with that group) almost like Bill was right that she was making him softer.

@@knowledgeanddefense1054 That is true, I do believe that Ellie made Joel softer. Things is though (spoiler alert!) by the end of the first game Joel killed some very important people of the firefly organisation and killed many unnamed soldiers to save Ellies life, now Joel isn't stupid, something which we've seen many times throughout the first game. Now, according to Neil Druckmann, Joel got to...comfortable and "kind of forgot" that he killed the head of the firefly organisation and the head surgeon, who would have been able to make a cure to the cordyceps disease and save humanity from the brink of extinction... Joel must have known that his and Ellies name was known among those who he didn't butcher of the firefly org. In part 2, shortly before Joel gets shot in the knee by Abbie, after Tommy and Joel tells the group of armed unkown people their names and that they live nearby Joel says "Y'all act like you've heard of us or something". Thoughts on that?

​@@HeyImdrphilyall First of all, Tommy (the guy who told Joel: "living like you wasn't worth it" in the first game and straight up founded a community based around mutual trust towards strangers) gave their names first while Joel was in earshot, and he did so while the infected were still the looming threat and he and Joel were panicking and thus not on their toes against human enemies (which is also why it makes sense for them to lower their guard down right after said primary threat has been dealt with, Joel can't be mentally prepared for every situation at all times otherwise he would have never stepped on Bill's upside down rope trap for example) there was no point hiding it after that and Joel knew that. Secondly, I don't know if you've noticed, but they literally just SAVED THEIR LIVES - I'd say that's a pretty fast way to earn major trust, don't you think? Also, you seem to be mistaking Neil Druckmann for the people who made Game of Thrones, if by your logic it's impossible for Joel to put his trust in new people after killing spree than what about all the people he killed before meeting Henry, a person who initially tried to strangle him and which Joel fell asleep next to 10 minutes later - thanks at least partially due to, again, Ellie's influence. Also also, the fireflies disbanded and these guys were wearing clothes of a different faction (which they were now a part of) thoughts on that?

Kind of wild they keep changing stuff for the show like how they meet these two, bills town, and the lack of infected/enemies they encountered to get to the point they are at

Every time i hear people say "joel wouldn't have trusted abby," I think back to this scene. He literally did the EXACT same thing as what he did with Abby. He told Henry his name, then followed him back to their base. In fact, he had wayy more reason to not trust Henry than Abby in this scene. People so stupid bruh, istg the people who say shit like that didn't pay attention to the first or the second game

@rage2455 it really doesn't matter. He wouldn't think not to say his name anyway. He still went to their base, which is a far riskier move than telling them his name lol. The only reason he seems irritated here, is simply because he's younger and more grumpy. At the point of tlou2, he's lived in complete peace for 4 years, of course he's gonna be calmer. Not to mention that abby is young, which Neil druckman and Troy baker have both confirmed that to be one of the reasons he trusted her so fast, since joel was so close with ellie who was also young.

@@grannyperson no he’s grump because he’s hardened from the 20 years he’s been surviving, he didn’t want Ellie to say her name because he doesn’t trust them. And the only reason he went with them is cause they were in the same boat, there were 2 kid s Ellie and Sam. This Joel wouldn’t be dumb enough to say his name in front of a group people especially after what he did, it’s just poor writing in Lou 2

Joel died, and it made perfect sense, yall just making excuses to hate on the game. Troy baker literally was against it, but completely changed his mind by the end of it, and has literally said how it was because he was biased to the character. Same exact thing is happening here lmfao. If u actually use ur brain, and pay attention to his character, u would know that he's extremely prone to mistakes. Idk why people have this weird image of joel being this wise and mature dude like kratos. Joels entire character literally revolves around making poor decisions, and that he's easy to fall for traps because he's easy to be manipulated, especially by young people because hes traumatized by Sara's death, and he saw ellie in abby when he first met her. He was also under complete stress, literally being chased by horde. Also, why the fuck would he give a shit about saying his name, especially to a random girl he just saved. Such a stupid argument against something that doesn't even matter. Quite literally fishing for things to hate on the game for.

@@8johh pretty sure Abby had a pregnant woman with her back at their little hideout Of course just to play both sides, Joel does still express reluctance when Ellie suggests they work together, though it might be more of a ‘strength in numbers isn’t a thing when you’re trying to be stealthy’ kind of look

Joel wasn't trusting of them, he didn't plan on tagging along with them in the first place lol. He was still cautious. The only reason why he gave them the benefit of the doubt was because Henry told Sam not to shoot him and they were in the same boat.

@sweetsurrender2012 Dawg who df said anything about FEDRA, there was no mentioning of FEDRA. The reason why Joel trusted them was because if Henry and Sam were going to kill them they would've done it already the moment Sam aimed his gun at Joel. Joel had no reason to trust them both, never did, and they both wanted the same thing. You should try body language analysis, it's smth that Joel was an expert at too until TLOU2. If they were gonna harm or kill Joel and Ellie, Henry wouldn't have told Sam to lower the gun but shoot him in his face the moment Joel got back lol.

I really hate that they made sam deaf in the show like really what was the point

@@vynyltyx yeah because game sam was like 12/13 or something? So Sam being 8 was probably a bigger change to me with how that changes his relationship with both Henry and Ellie. I like both versions a lot and I think it’s cool we get to have them both, I find it annoying when people compare all the time when we can enjoy both as their own thing

Ask yourself why they changed this scene in the show. In this cut scene, Joel gets the better of Henry, showing his superiority as a survivor. But if course woke Druckman changed it so Henry and Sam get the better of Joel. It's a little thing overall, but, again, ask yourself why they HAD to change this scene in the show.

Well in the show joel is now a person of color so it doesn't really matter. Unless they don't want to show a black guy getting beaten in general....
