@@Trollseeder yh, it's because he's a Dana White UFC company guy. The UFC is a promotional company at the end of the day and they always want to promote their current fighters as the best ever, and ignore the past, because they think that saying older fighters are great diminishes their current fighters, especially in the public perception and the UFC thinks that effects ppv sales. I get why they do it, but still drives me mad how quickly they disrespect legends of their past, and flat out lie. The welterweight division is weak and has been for years now. Usman dominated it during a weak era, mostly fighting blown up lightweights and average fighters, and plenty with a lot of losses. So weak in fact that guys who would never have even earned a title fight in GSP's era, where not only getting title fights, they were getting rematches for the title without even winning a fight in-between. There's not one area of the game that Usman is better than GSP at, and his resume is literally half (or less than) as good as GSP's. I don't think anyone could say they'd trade GSP's career, his record, his title record and his resume for Usman's.

@@Trollseeder yh exactly, Josh Koscheck, Nick Diaz and Thiago Alvarez in their primes too. Ridiculous resume. GSP beats everyone Usman beat and does it more impressively. Out of the fighters we've listed, in their primes, most if not all would beat most if not all of Usman's opponents too. I think a few of them in their primes could beat Usman too to be quite frank. And I think GSP beats Usman 10/10. Better boxer, better jab, better kick boxer, better footwork, better movement, better understanding of range, better at transitioning, better wrestling, better submission game, better timing, better iq, better game planning, better at mixing up his skill set, just as strong, if not stronger. Faster. Just as explosive if not more so. More agile. Significantly better kicker. He's just better. Head to head, ability/skill set, level of competition, records, title reign, accomplishments etc etc. He's not only a clear favourite, he's hands down better in every way. Usman's only hope would be a massive right hand, but being as Usman only displayed that in a couple fights just before he lost to Leon, and isn't actually a great striker, it just looked good against a street fighter who thought he couldn't be kod and a predictable come forward pressure fighter, he's not landing that against prime GSP. He's getting out boxed, his legs kick out and repeatedly taken down. Unanimous decision win for GSP. I'm not sure why Joe himself doesn't give GSP his respect. I know why the UFC doesn't. And I think that is why Joe doesn't. But I don't know that for a fact. But if that is not why, why on earth does he constantly overlook GSP and overly praise Usman?

I think his Khamzat's team takes the right approach to fights. If they are fighting a good grappler they strike and vice versa. The problem with Gilbert was he is a well rounded fighter with very few weaknesses. Now Khamzat has to fight another well rounded fighter so it will be interesting. If this fight stays on the feet i think Khamzat is in trouble, if he can get top position on the ground he has a good shot.

People bring up the Khamzat Burns fight like they brought up Khabib vs Al Iaquinta. Khabib wanted to prove something on the feet (he wanted extra practice in the cage from his own words). People took that as Al Iaquinta giving Khabib a hard time. Likewise with Khamzat, he wanted to prove he could knock Burns out... he fought sloppy, was not calculated, was not defensive, did nothing right. He admitted it himself. I don't put much into the Khabib Iaquinta fight, and I don't put that much into the Khamzat Burns fight.

Khamzat will smash Usman, mark my words. People always forget that you have only one prime moment in your professional career. As soon as Edwards beat Usman twice, his prime moment was over. Also, Khamzat casually beating Burn with striking to show he doesn't need to grapple says a lot. Khamzat is going to throw Usman around just like he did with Kevin Holland.
