@@natalieps2387 Nope. Earlier in the movie Drew mentions the phrase "nothing is certain but death and taxes" to Joe, which Joe has never heard before. As Death, he is a bit offended by it. This is just a really fun callback to that scene.

I truly like this movie. But an "undisclosed conflict of interest" is not something that the Internal Revenue Service would be concerned about. It is out of its jurisdiction. :)

@@sonofizzy presumbally if the undisclosed conflict of interest is part of a conspiracy to evade taxes it becomes their concern. Not to mention if there were an investigation the FEC would be going in deep and dry on those two and they would face ruination and years behind bars. That would be.the best thing that happens to them. No doubt the board will be filing a complaint with the FEC and IRS. In honour of Bill Parish's memory they would want to protect his legacy. No doubt Quincy if he does have the mettle and Iron in the spine, and has found merger options, could well rise to chairman status. Would do him a world of good to I think. Being that kind, sensitive but strong yet compassionate leader. He couldbe the rock his wife needs, now that her father is gone. Perhaps an ispiration to her that she too could be more than she thought. Or so I'd love to imagine it.

Probably not in Hopkins' case. His process is to devour a script and read it over and over until he gets everything right, the words, mannerisms, expressions, everything. He does add his own touches and improvisations to his roles, but not on the spot like that.

In it, Joe was meant to almost reveal himself as death, when Bill interjects with "he's an agent of the IRS" so it is quite plausible that the script was changed without Hopkins' knowledge, albeit for an actor of his calibre, it wouldn't have been too difficult to pull off such a nuanced 'surprised' expression

This movie is a piece of Hollywood perfection. I’m not saying it’s flawless or “the best ever”, but it just perfectly represents what Hollywood of that era did so well.

I keep forgetting just how good Brad Pitt really is. Perfect deliveries every time. Sinister and hilarious all at once.

I am NOT a gay man, but Brad Pitt is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS in this movie. He is a GREAT actor as well, especially in this role.

GREAT film, great music! I don't just watch films, I STUDY films. Obviously some people don't have the depth to go this deep. If you can't or don't appreciate this film you can always go back to watching Rambo, or Independence Day or something else that requires little or no thought on your part to understand... something entertaining without the effort to have to process what you're watching would seem to be more up your alley!

One of the greatest sleeper films of all time. Such an original story and wonderful acting. The writing is magnificent and the movie has one of the best final scenes of all time. I'm a red blooded 47 year old American male and it brings tears to my eyes every time I see it. The pairing between Anthony and Brad is spot on and the movie has so many inspirational quotes you can imagine. I'm glad I have it on DVD because if it were VHS the tape would certainly be worn out by now by 10 fold. If you don't have this in your collection or seen it you MUST!

This movie is pitch perfect.. In every sense and in every scene.

Brad’s delivery is impeccable.

...perfection! "He's talking through his lips.... the subtlety is priceless. LOVE IT.

The original script of this film had Joe Black start to reveal his identity when Parrish interrupts and says he'a an IRS agent and when he made the explanation of their investigation, Joe Black played along.

One of the best endings of any film. Thanks for posting this video, it's the only one of the ending on KZread.

There’s something beautiful about Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes” playing in the background. With death, you’re not sure of what’s to come, but anything can happen.

"And he's talking through his lips." Oh, that perfectly describes some liars I have encountered! Hopkins's reaction to that is awesome.

One of the most underrated movies of all time.

Pitt showing he's not only a really really really really good looking guy. He is perfect in his role. And Hopkins? he's superb as usual.

The best part of this is the fact that Drew mocked Death about taxes when they first met.

"Death and taxes." Nice editing job on the clip. This was a much better movie than its box office draw indicated. I've never been a huge Brad Pitt fan, but his dead-pan delivery was perfect for this role.

(i just watched it on netflix and it was exactly like this) so it was not like this when the film came out?

His character reminds me of Mark Twain’s young satan in “the mysterious stranger”. A young, beautiful stranger that also has a peculiar and cruel way about him, but friendly to the innocent.

Still one of my favorite scenes in cinema history

The unwavering conviction in Brad (Joe's) face is a bit frightening and then the "Death and Taxes". Freakin priceless! This scene is one of my favorites in the whole movie.

To me this is o e of the funniest scenes in this amazing movie! Anthony Hopkins and Brad Pitt are peerless in this movie! The slow stunned look on their respective faces is such great acting and that killer final line: "Death and Taxes". So great.

Watched it again and i just noticed how that smug smile subtly fade away after hearing that….wow. They are all amazing. All star cast…..if i were to do a character analysis on any movie. I think, this would be the most interesting one……
