I don't think they account for the fact that Em benefited everybody as a whole more. If Em didn't exist, millions of white kids might not have gotten into hip hop because of how marketable he was. And those kids went on to buy and like other black artists music. If he hadn't been around, that may not have happened.

So explain NWA, Wu-Tang impact that has nothing to do with Eminem. TRL wasn’t playing black artists that’s why Rap City, and 106 & Park were so important. Eminem had Dre, and sign 50.

wrong… Hip Hop was worldwide by 1990! White people were buying records in Europe. Asian people were buying records in Japan. Eminem has white fans that don’t even care about hip hop. I’m not saying that’s his entire fan base is made up of this type of fan, but he’s definitely got the “I don’t listen to rap but I listen to Eminem” white fan base. Y’all know the type… the white guy that works for Budlight driving a truck that listens to COUNTRY and some rock & roll. The I don’t really like rap but I like Eminem fans aren’t hip hop fans. They’ve got no say in the culture, about the culture, they’re not part of the culture.

Pac and big had a bigger impact here with the style of music than Hov.. Ish said that most of the black audiance are influenced by jay and i dont refute that but em had a way bigger impact all over the world... alot of artist mostly black can definetly relate to jayz but on a global stage hes not touching em. Sometimes people need to go outside their country to see that some things aren’t big as they think. All the artist that we think are big in the US aren’t even known in other countries, clear example is Drake. Jay z maybe be big in hip hop but not enough where his impact is worldwide, in the other hand you have Eminem who inspired all the battle scene in Latin America, even Argentina artists talk about how 8mile inspired them to get into the rap

Take Eminem out & the rap game wouldn't be the #1 genre & rappers wouldn't be making the money they make. It don't take a rocket scientist to see why. Eminem is a better overall rapper then Jay Z. when Jay Z came out he wasn't all that, because we had biggie who was so much better then Jay z, we had tu pac & then DMX. Big L was better then Jay Z. They are not talking music. They are talking finances. Totally different topic. Eminem can rap with anybody, Jay Z took Biggie style in alot of ways. Jay is a billionaire, but doesn't mean his impact on hip hop music is bigger. I like Jay z, but people don't give Eminem credit because of his skin color. So who's really being racist.

Yes, Jay-Z has this and owns that etc. But we dont even know what Em owns because he has never really used his money, connections or business deals as a marketing tool to gain popularity. In contrast to Jay? vis-a-vis to the perception of black excellence in the urban community. Jay was the perfect example. Em on the other hand, has always been quiet.

He started his own label just like hov as well. he's a businessman too. hov is just a better one. i like both but i rather listen to jay or nas. ems first 3 albums are great after that nah. i like the way he puts words together but his content is what loses people. for every stan and cleaning out my closet, he has we made you, just lose it, ass like that, i can listen to weird stuff like that. jay, and nas to me have been more consistent the last 20 years. relapse, revival have been some of the worst albums i ever heard. jay don't have trash albums.

@@meladgoat So far, for some reasons. I feel like y'all dont understand the point i am trying to make. Lol For music. By themselves, Em has had more impact. However as for business? We can say that Jay might have an edge. Due to the médiatisation of all of his business ventures. However, i personally dont know the business ventures that Em has been on that has been publicized as much a Jay. And this is both heard in their music. Jay at times gives us a verse about how he may have bought this or that etc. I have NEVER heard Em talking about his riches. Lol But as far as we know, if we want to rely on mere perception. Yes Jay may seem like a better✌ businessman✌ than Em Because the music industry focuses its impact on business rather than the art itself. A perfect example. Drake vs Kendrick or Cole. Drake is louder with his money than Cole or Kendrick. We see his house, his plane, and some of his business investments. Fam, we have no idea where Kendrick or Cole lives lol. We have no idea where they have invested and what they own. As far as we know. They could own a % of a professional team, tech company etc. We dont know because they are private. And this is the point i am trying to make. The perception of business may seem more impactful than the art itself...only if the metric of the impact were measuring is based off precieved ✌numbers and values✌

Sorry to say. JayZ big and impactful in the America. No doubt about it. I don't debate it. He great rapper, influence so many rapper in culture, OG, billionaire, business mogul and etc. But Eminem, it is impactful globally worldwide. American should go outside of your scale, see for urself. Pac and Biggie famous in asia after their death. then, here come the white boy, Eminem. I'm as asian, literally live in asia continent, know Eminem, DrDre and 50cent first in 90s and 00s. Their music firstly arrive here and from that we learn about JayZ and another OG. Aftermath and Shady Records presence first in asian and it open the door for another hiphop artist globally and bring more money to culture. HipHop culture in asia literally start from that. I just speak from my point of view as asian people.

You go to Thailand, Bali, Columbia for example, Eminem has more merchandise in those SE Asian/South American markets than Jigga. Tbh you rarely see the latter. In Europe Em is 100% played more on the radio and in bars etc. Hip hop is bigger worldwide cos of him. Jay may have had a bigger impact in the US but Em conquered the world. Hov did units but he wasn’t a super popping global artist. Em has done more for hip hop globally. Em has an album that impacted American culture. Hov has created more trendy moments and made himself a household name. Rocafella is not the first independent label. They might not even be the most successful.
