Eminem. I happened to live in two countries during the early 2000's (One in Latin America and one in the Middle East), and the Eminemania was fully present in both of them. It was absolutely mind blowing to see kids from places where hip-hop was far from being popular battle-rapping in 8 Mile style. Moreover, his lyrics were controversial worldwide (Even in non English speaking countries) just as much as in America. Also, he was extremely popular with young girls as well. He was HUGE back then!

I never understood people using the phrase in there prime in hip hop. Rap is mental not physical there for as long as the mind is good so is the artist and Em just keeps growing as a artist he hasn't even hit his prime yet. Just listen to how his vocabulary keeps growing and his word play and meanings keeps getting more complex plus the way he has been messing with different flows and beats, Em is still growing and evolving as a artist and that's what a lot of fans don't get they want him to be the old Em but he is better now then he was and can't go back to it

Jiggy fly Prime is just a word to describe peak quality output. If they’re not releasing as consistent or their impact & reception’s peak is in the past, that’s their prime. Eminem isn’t as consistent, impactful or as well received as he was from ‘00-‘04...thats his prime. Jay-Z from ‘96-‘03. They both are still really good but not as much as before objectively.

Jiggy fly Everybody has “haters” a simple look in the comments will tell you Jay-Z and Eminem are the most hated...Drake as well. People find w.e they can to discredit when you’re doing something big. But social media creates platforms for stans to say shit like “Eminem is a way better rapper than Biggie, 2Pac, Jay-Z and Nas” & then get mad when people say “Eminem is trash compared to them”...when in all actuality they’re all raw asf. Most of the people that hate on Em probably just don’t like how his stanbase over exerts their opinions, which is warranted. It’s not about understanding literary devices or vocabulary it’s about relatability, we can’t really get mad if certain groups don’t hold Eminem in a high regard if every time they hear him his music it’s something cringeworthy (Rainman, Just Lose It, My Name Is)...some people just don’t like that & that’s ok. But there’s a ton of real lyricist out here that aren’t as marketable as Eminem and don’t get a chance. Bottom line is we need to appreciate quality music.

when taking about the brand how come you didn’t bring up Eminem establishing Shade 45? It’s a platform that airs uncensored music plus helps artists promote their music. that’s a business venture in my eyes. also in terms of Longevity, Killshot broke a KZread debut views record for music beating out Kanye and Lil Pump (two relevant figures in hip-hop) and it was only audio unlike Kanye’s that was a music video. It’s the 8th highest debut video in KZread history so I thought it was a bit bias to leave that out anyways great video man. I loved it and hope there’s many more to come. all love

@@Logan912 Eminem is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He has had thirteen number-one albums on the Billboard 200. He was the bestselling music artist from 2000 to 2009 in the US according to Nielsen Sound Scan. He was also the bestselling male music artist in the United States of the 2010s. The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, Curtain Call: The Hits, "Lose Yourself", "Love the Way You Lie" and "Not Afraid" have all been certified Diamond or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America. Among Eminem's awards is 15 Grammy Awards, eight American Music Awards and 17 Billboard Music Awards, Billboard named him the "Artist of the Decade between 2000-2009". I am not an eminem fan, not even close I stopped listening to eminem a long time ago like after his second album, but I am a fan of music and the numbers speak for itself. This information is out there for public knowledge. In 2010 eminem was finally dethroned from the number one spot by Rihanna, she would hold down that spot for a while till 2016 when she was dethrone by Drake. btw this top spot I'm talking about isn't top in hip hop music this is top in music of all genres.

At you have to do is do your research and see artist who was existing from other countries before Em got mainstream. It just made it easier to see the impact because of internet and streaming. And for the record, Jaz O was taking Jay-Z over seas to Europe before Jay-Z got big. I can't remember the artist but I remember some 90's artist talking about doing shows across the water and being surprised them people already knew the words. DO your research. The first song with rap to TOP the charts was a white woman over in Europe JUST FOR THE RECORD. look it up. It wasn't a rap song tho. It was like a disco song but she spit a rap. This was around the time rap was on the rise of commercial success here but never ht number 1. Name of the song is "Rapture"

Is em inducted into the song writers hall of fame does em have the same amount of critical acclaimed albums does em have the same amount of number 1 albums or even grammies as jay ?? Id rather have all that and be one of the most iconic artist ever and run a billionaire dollar empire then only having more sales and jay still sold over 100 million units worldwide and rap was global and known every wayyyy before em came on the scene rap became the biggest genre in 98

I think that is what that other person is reffering to. Again If you are talking just music Em is more known, BUT if we are talking bussiness J is over Em. Imo, of course. DOBS J9 OG that shows me your lack of knowledge about hip hop and that’s why Eminem has the dumbest fan base in rap history and we laugh all y’all (stans) and when you debate a stan the only thing they can run to is sales, when Eminem himself said he’s a product of white privilege if you listen to white america Eminem says he wouldn’t have sold half had he been black he’s just overhyped because he’s a white guy who does something black really well sorta like Elvis, he’d just be another redman or sticky fingaz with their comical rap, secondly how many of Eminem’s albums are classics or critically acclaimed ?? Every album after Eminem show was average to mediocre to booty juice 💩 where as Jay z has 14 number 1 albums on billboard most amongst any rapper or any artist from any musical genre including the Beatles Elvis Michael Jackson prince Beyoncé Eminem etc secondly jay z makes better songs better albums more classics more critically acclaimed jay z also the first rapper ever inducted into the song writers hall of fame while never using a pen or paper all his songs are freestyles, Eminem doesn’t have the diversity that jay z he makes dumb funny music for nerdy suburban kids where as jay z makes club records conscious records, songs you can play at a family bbq songs you ride around to alone just straight bars and so more, jay z leads all rappers in grammies (22) jay z is more culturally impactful and more influential and has better subject matter a lot of you dumb fans get caught up in the lyrical miracle spiritual individual bs rapping fast at 100 miles per hr saying nothing Eminem has the weakest subject matter and content who cares if he can put words together well if it don’t make sense

I am 41 years old and white had it not been for Eminem, I would never have discovered Rap and R&B. Until Eminem came on to the scene, I didn't feel included. Once his lyrics spoke to me, other artists words became clearer, their meaning deeper than I was previously able to understand. I love Jay, he has inspired me to make the most out of every business venture I have ever taken part in. Jay helped me to understand that you have to appreciate why you work long hours and why you need to keep grinding long after everyone else turns in for the night. Eminem taught me that is alright to be angry, and what it means to focus your anger on your Craft... I don't feel it is quite right to say that either is more influential, (except in money Jay has that on lock) because I feel it depends on whom you are and where you came from, as to which would have had a greater influence on you as an individual... Just my thoughts...

Americans cannot say who is bigger while being unbiased, because both artists are extremely famous in the US. But as a guy from Greece, the country full of crappy rappers and debts, I learnt about Eminem when I was 8 (when I wasn't a fan of rap) and about Jay when I was like 13 (because I had started listening to rap a lot). So I think that Eminem is bigger, even though both are great

Jay-Z has very little accomplishments business-wise. The majority of his business "success" was signing artists and bleeding them dry. Memphis Bleek, Beanie Siegel, Young Gunz, Kanye etc. Kanye was luckily just such a phenomenal artist that Jay's shitty influence and greedy practises couldn't hold him back.

YourPalHDee not that it is even relevant in this discussion but you’re mentioning him not dealing drugs as if that would be a terrible thing not to do and also as if you actually know first hand if he did or did not deal drugs! Rap is entertainment! Some tell their real life stories while others (most) create a storyline for themselves! Eminem has mentioned many fictional things in his raps but yet you target Jay for rapping about the drug game and you say he has not dealt drugs! It never amazes me how many people know so many facts in the comments! But at the end of the day what they eat and you eat don’t make me shit so it’s all Good! We are all entitled to our opinions!
